Yes you lose root and don't use factory reset. Kies is better.... And root takes like 30 seconds... come on!

Lol.... Yes Root is easily obtained but I'm on the road and am trying to rid myself of this lag and don't have my laptop handy! If factory reset doesn't help I think I will exchange my s4!

A factory reset would leave your device status as official still?
I'm sure a using kies would be a better choice.

Don't do a factory reset on the road. It still has the Samsung with the unlock logo if you do factory reset.
Also you might run into the initial setup crashing which eventually you will need to use Kies method...
Just saying there is a possibility. I created a lag guide in the General Section... See if any of those tips help.
Factory reset does not unroot. You just have to redownload superuser from market place.

Anyone else having problems using wanam exposed to get rid of the custom unlock when booting up? It doesn't change in about phone either. It does say "official" in about phone though. It doesn't seem like the hack is working at all
You need to reboot twice to see it in effect. First reboot will still sees lock. 2nd reboot and in it will be gone.

TA ... which setting worked?
Beeing a bit of a noob, and not wanting to brick my phone by clicking the wrong option in "Triangle Away" ... exactly which setting did you select to remove the "custom" from the boot screen on the Note 3?
Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Reset flash counter.
I rooted the SM-900V MI9 build via de la vega and was successful, then the MJ7 build came out and i was able to keep root after that. after that I proceded to delete bloatware and one of which was my magazine. Since doing so, when i hit the home button from the home screen TW fc's every time, also the native mail app fc's every time i get a new message and try and open it. I have tried to install both the lounge.apk and the magazinehome.apk into system/app and then changed the permissions to rw-r-r, then rebooted. Nothing worked. I have tried to delete them from system/app and then reboot and try to add them back in, change permissions again, but still to no avail. Today I thought that simply doing a factory reset will wipe my root and put everything back to the condition i bought it in, then i would re-root knowing once done not to un-install my magazine. Any help on how to get my device back to the condition that it was from day 1 or what I am doing wrong that my magazine shows no application installed after i have put into system/app, changed permissions to rw-r-r and rebooted?

Looks like I cannot get the MI9 build back? Do you know if there is a de la vega root yet for the MJ7?
You would have to use Kingo for MJ7.

is kingo safe and are there instructions on it? Does it keep knox at 0x0? From what I have read they get some vital info off the phone like imei number and all, can i trust them?
People are using it. And it keeps Knox at 0x0. There is a thread in the General forum that you can read up on. I can't say if it's 100% safe though. But most people that are on MJ7 and want root use Kingo.

My rooted (via vroot) S4 display a white logo of unlocked lock with the word "custom" below it.
Is this something that can be changed?
Thanks

yes triangle away will clear it. if you get a boot loop that keeps going into download mode pull the battery it will then boot to the TA flash counter reset menu. do the reset and then reboot. it will still show Device status as Custom in the status menu of system settings though.
this was my experience after rooting the 4.3 OTA mk2

The Triangle Away thread says the below:
Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T SGH-I337 UNLOCK BOOTLOADER

What does UNLOCK BOOTLOADER mean? I thought the boot loader is locked.
Thanks
Triangle Away doesn't work right if you have MF3. I don't know how it works if you have MDL, bit for MF3 you a have to used an closed module to fake an official status.

not sure about actually using it to reset the flash counter. my counter was not tripped but it did reset the boot splash screen back to the galaxy s4 boot logo instead of the pad lock custom screen.
as for the unlock bootloader im not sure where you were getting that info there is no such option in triangle away. and i could not find the thread you were refering to.
and as stated above triangle away will not set the status to official on mk2 in the about tab device status menu

Hey, i need help to unroot my S4.
I have rooted my phone with odin and a CF-Auto-Root file. Now i want to unroot my phone but i dont want delete my data. I have tried to unroot with Supersu (full unroot) but it doesnt works so good. I want to look for Software Updates and it says my phone is modified. So can anyone help me ?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9506
(Sorry for my englisch, i'm from Germany )
You need to root again. After that, use triangle away to reset flash counter, binary status and system status. After this use the full unroot option in supersu. Never tried it like this, but it should work. I alway flashed the stock firmware after using triangle away and then factory reset.
Triangle Away can be found on the Play Store.
Support thread for Triangle away is here. You should read the second post, as it may help you.
Just download the same firmware u have from Odin and flash... That's what I did... Works great.

Another option is to use triangle away and then flash the stock firmware without factory reset, as pointed above, but I recommend the factory reset afterwards, as you may see some weird behavior.
