Stock, rooted D801 with TWRP 2.6.3.2 here.
The easiest way I know how to reboot into recovery mode away from my PC is to open terminal emulator app and type "reboot recovery".
Anyone an easier way?

Thanks, solutions like this are the reason I love XDA! Any chance you know of one with access from the app drawer instead? I'm kinda finicky about my pretty home screen

I had no idea the TWRP manager app even existed. Awesome! It even alleviates the timestamp issue on backups. Thanks all!

It works for a while and stop updating on CNN news. Doing manual updates just has the loading icon going forever with "updating..." at the bottom.
Does everyone have this problem or found a fix?
Anyone know?

more information is needed, what ROM you are on, are you pre-OTA T-Mo update/post-OTA T-Mo update, custom ROM. Have you tried removing the Widget and re-adding it? have you tried uninstalling the application and downloading it.
Stock ROM. Removed, added. Did a factory reset a while back for another reason, it started working for a while and stopped again.
No clue on the update status...

If you've done all that then i don't know what to tell you.
I do not follow CNN news at all. And i'm not allowed to mention why since cell phones are not political.

There is no way to get it to display just the name of the person messaging you without also previewing the message is there?
Hi,
I was curious if someone could tell me what the left and right arrows are for on either side of the menu/home/back buttons (see attached pic). I press them and nothing happens, and I can't find a description anywhere of what they do. Thanks

I wish those arrows showed up on mine, guess Sprint didn't get that option. Unless it's something you are supposed to enable in settings.

I installed Action Launcher and it has an amazing quick search app widget that is built in.
I would like to use another launcher, but can't find another quick search like this. Using Google Search takes me to a new window and performs more searches than I need.
Does anyone know of a widget that can do just app searches that I can place on my launcher and do 1 second searches?

Thanks. I installed it, and while it is REALLY fast, it still takes u to a separate screen for the searches. I am looking for a dropdown search that stays in the widget on the home screen.
oh.maybe this one can do the job:

That's ok. I appreciate the help! And I'm gonna keep Conjure as it's a REALLY fast search.. but still looking for that illusive search widget!
Hello,
The original buttons mapping is really terrible on stock rom.
I was searching for a way to modify them to something like on custom roms.
For example : double tap home starts a certain app.
The only app on playstore is not compatible.
The renovate ice mod is really bloated and I don't want to allow root access without knowing what it is doing.
Is there a way to edit the softkeys?

I didn't see any app mentioned. My bad.
Yes. It will work for non-rooted devices, just follow the adb commands, and you should be good.
