What do you use your tab 2 for? - Galaxy Tab 2 General

So I bought my p3113 out of impulse and had just been using it in bed for occasional youtube video. After getting a galaxy s4, I really struggled to think of a use for it or even bothered to keep it charged. How di you guys use it?

I got mine as a Christmas present and I use it for mostly social networking since my data on my phone is limited. I do however hate the 8gb of space on it but I love it overall
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk

Reading books. Browsing. Watching movies and photos. Taking notes, sometimes with external BT keyboard. Navigation (in the car or on foot).
I agree, a phone is good for all these tasks, too, but quite often I still prefer the convenience of a larger screen (I mean physical size, even with lower resolution than my phone). Especially when you are with someone who really struggles with small screens. The battery also lasts longer than on my phone. I don't care much about the 8GB storage space, as I have a 32GB card in it, and an OTG adapter for using flash drives.
It all actually boils down to a personal preferences and habits. If you are happy with doing everything on your phone, you may be hard pressed to find a good use for a 7" tablet. To me, the size definitely offers some advantages over the phone, and 7" is just about perfect (8" might be better, but not sure). I find 10" tablets too big and cumbersome. If I need something that large, I use a laptop.

I have the 10" Tab 2 and use it daily for TV and video. I have an unlimited data plan on my phone and I tether my Tab to it. I put all my movies and TV shows onto my home PC and use Plex as Media Server. Add catchup TV and Live TV and it is the perfect accompaniment for a truck driver.

I use mine mostly for reading. For awhile reading things on my phone was fine, and I got hooked on the convenience of having my books readily available, but after awhile the small screen got annoying. I've also recently started using it to watch shows on Netflix while I'm at work on lunch breaks.

I use mine for everything. I will have mine a year in February. Like in a previous comment, 10 inch tablets are cumbersome. I like the fact that it is a bit bigger than a phone. I have larger fingers and I usually hit more than one button on the keyboard on a phone. I watch Netflix on it as well. I have a 360° swivel case so I can watch movies or shows hands free. As far as the memory goes, I don't think it is too awful bad. I have an 8 gig SD card to transfer some apps to. All in all, I love it. Not too big, but not too small.

Mostly as an Ebook and comic reader, with a little bit of browsing when lay on the sofa. Got a 32Gb card installed for large comic collections and the odd movie depending what am doing at work! The greatest use i have found is car sat nav! In the leather wallet, it fits and wedges in nicely were the ash try is in my old E42 BMW! With Sygic installed, not a bad solution for car navigation.

mostly for reading old comics, abit of pdf and ebook reading, the odd game, catching up with xda, starting to use it more & more. Also i've caught the installing roms bug, although i stick to CyangenMod now with tablet ui patch.

My 7" is mounted in my truck and is used for all audio/video/navigation needs. Running through a WiFi hotspot, mounted in the vehicle as well.

Now that I have my galaxy note 3, I honestly never use my tablet. I'll probably sell it soon.

Replacement for Xperia Play: Moga Controllers

Hi guys,
I recently noticed many people saying goodbye to Xperia Play n going to S3 or other devices..
Ques: I want to know if its good option to replace Xperia Play with ARCHOS GAMING TABLET?
Ans: I have tried Archos Gamepad and trust me its pathetic !! Better avoid, its waste of money.
Finally m using MOGA CONTROLLERS with my Galaxy Note 2 and its pretty cool.
Waiting for Moga Controller Pro version now.
I don't think that's a phone

But seriously I think there will be Xperia Play 2. Start next year as lots of contracts going to finish (like my) and big hole in market will appear. To big to miss tat opportunity, specially Sony said that selling of XP was bigger as predicted so I have hope
I'd Rather buy a real ps vita and put a cfw on it then buying this cheap thing looks like the build quality is really cheap

Equally, how the hell do you use a 7 inch gamepad as a phone?

The Archos gaming tablet is just that, a Tablet not a phone.
I have enough phones, I`m more interested in the gaming part of it with physical controls.
I know you can pair up controllers to some other devices, but that means using bluetooth which is bound to be a drain on battery, and also while I feel comfortable using my PS3 pad on my PS3, I don`t think it`s so cool on a mobile phone.

Fair comment, however I still prefer the idea of an all in one unit as opposed to carrying a controller and a device.
Also to be fair this archos tablet gamepad actually looks good to me, and it`s price seems very fair to.

The best part? Archos claims to have developed a “mapping and game recognition” software that will allow virtual controls to be mapped to its buttons, even for games that don’t actually support physical controllers

Xbmc Android

Been mucking about with Xbmc for android on the s3 and although it's still a little buggy I reckon it has great potential.
One thing that's annoying me though is that I can get any scrapers to work. It searches for stuff i don't have and it's not the way folders are set up because they work fine on the pc. But I won't go into that just now.
Been using the wii remote to control it and it works pretty good but there's no keyboard.
Then I did a wee test with my dad's tablet, using that as the remote and it worked perfect. Bit draft me going out buying another android phone just to use as a remote though.
Just wondering what everyone else is using or if anyone has any ideas?
Cheers

I've got XBMC. Works quite well. I have the same aeon Skin as my desktop, something my Raspberry Pi couldn't handle. The only issue is in that skin, you need to press cursors to access certain menus and that is not working very well as I dont have cursors in the app. Other than that its fine though. All my movie and TV info is there.
I recently got the XBMC remote app. Thats great. Can scroll stuff without changing the display. Queue things up. Its actually much better than the hardware keyboard/remote I have, which awesomely since I have an S3, also works with XBMC for android
All in all, it needs some thought around control functions but other than that pretty neat. One thing I would like with the skin is 2x movies secti
ons via the skin rather than via the list. One for on VPN externally and one whilst local. That way I wouldnt have 2 of everything like I do now in the same folder

With xbmc I struggled to get h.264 decoded with any consistency. Sometimes had to reboot a few times. Just got it sorted after 2 weeks without an amp (which is why I used pi anyway) then replacement amp came
But back on topic, xbmc have some work to do but it'll be great on the s3

What can I do to love my N7 again?

Need some ideas guys! My N7 was my baby got it on release day no defects was over the moon. Used it everyday. I've got my N4 now. And my tablet seems to be somewhat unloved. Flashing ROMs doesn't really help tried that. Maybe games and fun apps? please suggest!

Find a ROM that's really smooth and install trinity kernel.
Try the paranoid android rom, tablet mode makes it so much better
Hook up a couple PS3 Controllers to it and play Mario Kart? Connect it to you car via Bluetooth, Tape Deck. Use it as your car stereo (Fancy). Use it to read a book. Draw a picture! Play Pokemon! Theme it out to the season. Put it in your pocket all day, and pull it out and pretend to make a call on it!
Or you could sell it to me for say....10 bucks and I pay shipping lol.
Or better yet just gimee your n4 ,problem solved.

[Q] Netflix and youtube app

Hi,
So xbmc on the ouya is pretty much the best experience i´ve gotten so far on a small setup! love it.
But when i install the netflix apk, its really hard / impossible to navigate with the D-pad, plus the quality of the stream seems to be aimed at mobile phones. Anyone gotten a better APK where you can browse with the d-pad and get a good quality stream?
And youtube, i managed to install the youtube APK, and the streams are looking great, but i cant login, plus it seems i just find the stock mobile version, ive heard that the google tv is alot better, but does it enable log in as well?
Sorry for the wall of text, but these are the 2 missing features i really want.
I have installed the tv versions of both apps and they are easier to navigate. No problem logging in but I do have the google store mod.
Netflix quality can be poor at times.

Did you ever figure this out? My wife hates me for putting for taking out our ****ty streamer and replacing it with the Ouya. On Netflix, can't scroll through right or left when picking when you want to watch and can't scroll down to select episodes of TV shows when there is more than 5-6.

The easiest solution I have found it just have a bluetooth mouse. You can just drag the screen up and down, etc as if you were touching the screen. It works pretty well.
Or you can use the touchpad of the controller to scroll. Double tab and then drag up. It's a bit sluggish but it works.
The only problem I have is that the playback stops if the controller turns itself off.
using netflix apk 1.8.1
i got the 1.8.1 working with no playback issues, and with some use of ouya control, does not pause when the control turns off.
My only gripe is the subtitles are very small... can any dev can do a modified netflix 1.8.1 apk with bigger fonts?

What do you use your new nexus 7 for?

Just wanted to know what ya'll do on this awesome tablet.
I basically serf the web (forums, twitter, facebook etc.), play games, play some gba games using My Boy! emulator, watch movies/tv shows, read some books using Moon+ Reader, skpye, text with textplus, read some comics with ACV reader. I know, quite a bit of stuff lol
As an English major, lots of my classes have readings in PDF form. EZ PDF Reader has been a crucial app for me for school on my tf101. That will probably be my main use once school starts.

Mainly like having the latest version of Android. Also like the portability of a 7" tablet too. I've surprised myself by using this a lot more than my 10" Asus Infinity. Not just because it's new either, I prefer using a 7" tablet over a 10" for many things. Reading my magazine subscriptions are MUCH easier on my Infinity though, and I still prefer a lot of my games on my Infinity. I love that Google has made cloud storage available on a lot of games though. Makes jumping between devices MUCH easier!!
