[Q] List of Roms with Knock-On implementation - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As in the title, which roms are the ones implement with Knock-On? I have been seeing more and more new roms everyday, but apart from those derived from stock, none seems to have Knock-On implementation or either their devs didnt add it in the list of features. Downloading all roms and testing them one by one would take a whole lot of time which i hope to use for more productive stuff, so could you guys please list the rom name and whether it has Knock-On or not? Thanks!
In case you are wondering, Knock-On is what LG called it for the act of tapping the phone screen to turn on the device. It has been working beautifully for me, and as i normally use the phone face down on the table, reaching and turning the phone over just to turn on the phone is a hassle. (I have small hands too sadly, so using just 1 hand to turn on the phone is difficult for me.)
I will start the ball rolling :
(International) Paranoid Android - ???
(International) JanJan's Deodexed & Odexed Lite Rom - Implemented
Heatshiver's - Implemented

Knock-on works on paranoid android, just tested few hours ago.
Heatshiver's too
I think only roms under Original Android development may run into this problem.

[Q] Defective Smart Scroll?

I have been trying many different roms lately and wanted to find one that was compatible with smart scroll, but I have yet to find a single one that works with that feature.
I am using a TW-based rom, and so far I've tried:
Graviton
SHOstock
Goldeneye
And all of them seem to be defective in that aspect. The smart scroll feature is enabled and I've tried using eye tracking, as well as tilting the phone. I am aware that you need to be using the stock browser, but nothing seems to work.
I have also noticed that there is usually a correlation between smart scroll and smart stay both not working, which is true in my case as well. I have searched the forums and all I could find was:
a) My phone is defective (I cannot confirm that it was working before I started flashing roms), or
b) ODIN back to stock and try again
Is there anything else to try?

i've noticed it doesn't work well with glasses on. I guess light reflections through glasses throws off the sensor.
I don't have issue with contact lenses thought.
if you are wearing glasses, try without them or wear lenses and try it.
i read something in ktoonz kernel thread about using a specific kernel build to get it to work for certain ROMs....id say flash the ROM of your choice, then his 6/10 build, and see if it still works
i dont use smart scroll but smart stay hasnt been working for me either :-\
I saw that as well. As a matter of fact, I'm running that kernel right now, but still no luck.
No big deal though, just wasn't sure if there was a defect or if this was an anticlimactic feature to begin with. This phone is awesome otherwise!

[Q] Phone reception/broadcast on CM and ASOP roms

I have tried many times now to use CM or ASOP roms and their like and I find that I consistently have the same problem: no phone calls in (I would boot the rom and then call my cell from my house), can't hang up after a phone call and lousy GPS.
I don't have these problems when using a stock (Touch Wiz) based ROM.
Why is this?
Clearly it's a software issue, what could possibly be missing in the various roms that would make this happen?

Software version L720VPUFNAE
Hardware version L720 08
I'm running team acheron's super s4 right now and I therefore cannot update the prl or profile,
I'm international right now (in Israel) and I therefore used the radio unlock method from the forum here to unlock to phone for GSM and UMTS usage.

Has anyone experienced this problem and has suggestions as to how to fix it?
Thanks
I flash a LOT of roms. Sometimes two or three a day. (I am going to meetings but I will always be a flashaholic.) I am almost constantly on AOSP because I do not like how clunky TW feels and there are about three or four things an AOSP rom does easily that you cannot do easily or at all on TW. I have had all of the problems you mentioned at one time or another but never all at once. When I first bought my SG4 and started flashing roms the GPS was a big issue but that problem is pretty much nonexistent now. The same with the inability to make a call. I have not seen that in awhile. I recently flashed a rom that I thought was running perfectly until I made a phone call and could not get the phone to hang up. I had to reboot to get the phone to disconnect. That was the first and only rom I have had that problem with. I think I reinstalled it a few days later after it had been updated and it worked fine.
Other things I have noticed is that Google's voice recongition does not work as well on AOSP roms and there can sometimes be a problem with MMS.
I say all of this to say that first, these roms are in development. They are not perfect. They sometimes have problems. If a rom has a glitch you cannot live with, go to a different rom.
Next, you have to follow the installation instructions to the letter. If it says to stand on one foot while installing the rom do it. I have seen some roms that have really weird install instruction but if you do not do it, the rom is not going to work. Acheron's Super S4 has you use specific recoveries and reboot into recovery. That is a little odd.
Next, if you feel you are constantly having these problems with all AOSP roms, which is odd, try flashing a stable version. CM has milestones. I know Liquid Smooth has an official 3.1 that is supposed to be very stable. See if you have these problems are more stable versions and instead of nightlys.
Next, I have seen people on the exact same model phone and carrier have greatly different experience with a rom. Individual phones seems to have their own quirks you have to learn. I believe most of this type of issue though is user error and you just don't realize you are doing something wrong.
Finally, the one thing I know nothing about is unlocking your phone for the international version. I wonder if that has anything to do with your problems.
Good luck and don't give up!

Discussion Thread : Cm12 unofficial rom by Grarak

Hi buddies
As Grarak chose to close the thread of his rom and that maybe some of you want to have some more return and exchanges about the way the rom works, discuss about bugs etc, i open this thread, so that we will be able to do what a forum is done for : talk and exchange together.
New version is 12082014, any return?
Testing soon..

i 've had terrible battery life, and searching on google lead me to a battery misc processus eating battery, problem solved with 5.0.1 by google
do you guys have the same experience, and have heard about a fix incorporation in the new builds? :good:
I had to go all the way back to the 11-20-14 build. I tried updating to the new builds 12-8, 12-9 and 12-10. No data at all on any of these builds.
Flashed the newest build! We're on Lollipop 5.0.1 now This update is supposed to help battery life. We'll see.
The new music app automaticaly force closes, and the DSPmanager was replaced with AudioFX.
thank you guys for these feedbacks.
Foxy, when you say the new music app, you mean the cyanogenmod one? strange, what could have change ?
Audio playback is fixed now ?

I don't know? It's just called "Music" but the icon is like a poorly designed not lollipop looking purple circle. But Apollo is gone so I suppose that's it. And audio playback works, just the app crashes right when I open it.

mhm then i think a change that has broke the app. I m sure Grarak will correct it in the next release
Ok, the ROM was going great for me, then yesterday at work my phone turned off when it was in my pocket. I tried turning it on, it booted, started doing the boot animation and then did that for five minutes before it shut off again. This time it wouldn't turn back on no matter how many times i tried power cycling or booting into bootloader. When I got home I tried charging it and the light wouldn't even come on. So I plugged it into my PC and the phone showed up as qhsusb_bulk. After researching that i found it means the bootloader got wiped somehow. My question is, how could my bootloader be gone, because as far as I know, no one has gotten their device S-OFF.
your device is bricked
seems there is a solution on the web but not working for everybody and for specific devices
i dont know what to advice you...
i dont know if it is rom related, but if it is, i wont flash this !
Yes that's what i figured. Luckily Amazon was nice enough to give me a new phone once I send that one in. I was just trying to figure out how it would even be possible that my bootloader got fried, considering my device was still S-ON.
any one who tried this rom found any bugs ???????? i want to know the bugs and want to know in htc 816 daul the second sim worked or not

I'm on a single sim Virgin Mobile variant here. There are bugs, yes. This is basically an alpha going into beta of lollipop. There is no one else developing anything new for this device so this is our best bet yet. Aside for some minor niggles here and there, this ROM is very workable as a daily driver. I would recommend a backup, and try this one out. I like it a lot. Grarak is quite amazing actually, many thanks owed.

Didn't test it. Haven't spent enough time on Lollipop because of the no data issue.
I've been playing around with the lastest builds, and I'm actually getting LTE to work without modifying anything, I just have to let it sit for a WHILE and it connects and works quite well.
HOWEVER, I have been getting a corrupt data partition issue with some non-google play apks. I assume that since the build are already not stable, adding homemade, root apks that modify data might cause some corruption. I'll keep playing with it and report back any further updates on how this may be happening.

Yah data works...just not good. It has to do with not being able to access APN's.
No one want's to sit "for a WHILE" to open a webpage or read an email.
On the latest build, System UI crashes.

Galaxy Note 7 Port- X-ROM by anggara08

UPDATE: The ROM has been updated to version 2 where lot of bugs have been fixed!
First things first:
The ROM is strictly for those who are using an unlocked N910P on a GSM SIM globally!
This ROM has been ported by @anggara08 for the Snapdragon Powered Galaxy Note 4. He is the creator of this ROM and I'm only sharing the thread link here so that N910P users (which is generally not supported by the OP of original thread) can take a look at what this ROM has to offer.
I'm in no way associated with the ROM development & all the credit for the work goes to @anggara08.
Now, let me come to the main motive of why I am creating this (or sharing this thread) here on N910P thread...
The ROM is being developed keeping in mind the F & G variants of Note 4. However, I did download the ROM on my N910P and it booted successfully. The ROM has few bugs right now like Bluetooth, Flashlight, Hot-Spot cannot be controlled by the toggles, but certain workarounds have been posted by the some users which make this ROM a must try.
So, coming directly to the procedure for flashinf it on N910P:
1. Head over the following thread & read it properly with proper concentration to save your's as well as others time to solve problems that can or could have been avoided.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-t3440223
(All credit goes to @anggara08)
2. Download all the fixes posted by OP like camera-fix, & lock-screen fix.
3. Do note that the boot-loader & the modem required is PE2 or PG1 (I have tested it on these personally). Any other version does not work like OG5, OK1, PE1,etc.
4. Take a full back-up of your current ROM.
5. Make proper wipes (system, dalvik, data, cacke, internal memory, etc).
6. Flash the downloaded X-ROM. Once the flashing is finished, the ROM will automatically boot without any prompt from the TWRP Recovery.
7. It will take a long time to boot. My suggestion is to keep the phone plugged to a charger while the process is going on so as to prevent battery drain.
There's absolutely no need of flashing any Kernel or Super-SU or anything.
Let the ROM boot first.
8. Once it boots, you'll notice that there will not be any network. For it, you have to download following data fix:
(The zip file is as an attachment at the end of this post, Credit goes to @boot_sect for posting it)
9. Boot into TWRP & flash the Data-Fix. Reboot to the ROM and the network will be there. (Note: I am a GSM SIM user so the fix worked for me. Sprint users, try this out at your own will & risk.)
10. Once the ROM is up & running, flash the respective fixes (as mentioned by me earlier & available on original thread by OP) and you'll have an amazing ROM to play with. :good:
Few suggestions & fixes by @boot_sect:
Additional Notes:
Bluetooth not turning off: Seems to be ROM issue, or at least for us T/W8s. Even without data fix it does not want to turn off...
> Temp fix: Quick and dirty way to disable bluetooth is by going into your favourite app manager (eg. Titanium Backup) and disabling "Bluetooth Share", then re-enabling when bluetooth turns off. This will keep BT turned off until you manually enable it next time (or at least, for a very long time.)
Flashlight not turning off. Most likely ROM issue as many users are experiencing this.
> Temp fix: Use "Quick Tools" in the Edge Panel to turn it off. Thanks to @justforgot to finding this workaround.
I'm not posting any screen-shots of the ROM as a dedicated video of it on N910F can be found on the original thread.
Last but not the least, If moderators find this thread useless, they are free to close it.
@Robin...Thanks for hooking us up to this and taking time for the right up.

how long we have to wait for the first boot?..and thanks
Was able to boot it up and play with it but no go on the data for sprint. I tried manually setting apn and nothing also the screen goes dim after a while. Nevertheless it is awesome seeing this thing running and cannot wait for the geniuses to stabilize it. One awesome thing I noticed it is how little bloat it had almost no apps aside from the essentials.

It should not take more than 15-20 mins... If it does, pull out the battery (though not recommended in first place) and try again.

Did you not get the data or the network??
Also, did you flash the data-fix for the network or it was available without flashing it?
As far as the bugs are concerned, I can help you out for a work-around.

For these international GSM ports to work on cdma, especially our sprint variant, a LOT of work must be done in framework, csc and build.prop. no exceptions. I wish there was an easier solution but that's the only way because by default these GSM roms are setup for GSM networks. I'm working on my own S7/N5 port and this is the last thing i have to do... cell service isn't working. i am trying different ideas as time permits. I have been porting TW roms and doing this stuff for a while and i can say that there is a TON of work that has to be done to even get these new softwares to boot, let alone work fully on a different device all together. mostly hardware, driver and kernel related things which takes a huge amount of time. So you must thank these developers for theit time and patience with this stuff. It's the most difficult challenge when it comes to building out roms. It makes native custom rom building seem like a walk in the park. Trust me. LOL. We'll get it it sooner or later. give it time.

@tx_dbs_tx: You are absolutely right that each and every developer works extremely hard in order to make a ROM boot. We should be really grateful to all the developers like you who make it possible for the users like me to experience difference ROMs on our phones.
It would be really shameful on our part if we can't even thanks a developer for all the hard work that he puts in..
Also, I'm using a GSM SIM (had even contacted you some time ago regarding it, if you remember.. ) on N910P so the above mentioned ROM worked for me without any network issues. I've edited the thread to mention that It's only for those who use GSM SIM on N910P.

3G working, vietnam haven't 4G yet

I am a noob, I need some help with LG G6 H870

Hey there. So, after having to live with Lumia 930 for the past three years, I got drunk in a bar on Saturday and smashed the phone several times against the table pretty hard. I was telling myself for the past year (after the WP 10 update) that I will break that phone and I finally did. The display doesn't work, yet the phone boots up normally.
My last experience with Android was with LG OO (P500), and Android Froyo 2.2 in 2010/2011. I do remember some stuff, like rooting, custom recovery and flashing new ROMs. The problem is, I have no idea how far has it gotten by this point.
So I have several questions that I need to get answered. I will have the phone tommorow.
1. Should I root the phone? If so, how?
2. Should I flash a new ROM? If so, which?
3. Is there anything I should do to the phone to raise it's battery life, performance, cam quality etc. and is safe? How?
4. What are some absolutely neccessary tweaks to consider?
1. https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/how-to/official-lg-g6-bootloader-unlock-t3614719
Whether you should or should not, is up to you. What do you want to achieve by rooting/using another ROM. Depends on your needs.
2. See above. What don't you like about the current stock one? If you like stock but want more tweaks, try Fulmics. If you don't like stock try one of the Lineage ROMs. Bear in mind that phone calls via a bluetooth speaker (e.g. in car) don't work so well in current Lineage ROMs.
3. Turn stuff off, remove battery hogging apps, try another ROM or Kernel etc. Your mileage may vary though. For Camera, try one of the ported Google Cameras - You can find threads here in the G6 forums. There are loads to try and some of the latest ones are working great!
4. There are no such "absolutely neccessary tweaks". It's what you consider necessary.
I would have a look around and think about what you want. When you get your phone it's worth doing a basic setup to see what you think. If you want to unlock/flash another ROM, do it early as doing so will erase all data on the phone, so saves some pain later when having to set everything up again.

Please don't get me wrong, but if you don't see a reason for root and if you are really a noob.... forget it.
The phone works and you will have no problems.

Yeah, just install it like a normal apk.
Download it and open it. Make sure you uncheck Allow Install of Unknown Sources in Settings first. It might even prompt you to do it during the install.
1. The question is mostly moot, since LG doesn't even allow unlocking of bootloaders of most G6 models. Only the European H870 is supported.
2. See above. If you can root and enjoy tinkering (and blowing hours of time) and don't mind risking bricking of your phone, go ahead. Unlike in the past, rooting and custom ROMs don't allow much more than modern stock ROMs. As you can see from other's answers, the custom ROMs use a somewhat more updated version of Nougat. (Stock is a version of 7.0) Note than with some custom ROMs you might not be able to use secured apps like Netflix or banking apps.
3. Battery life is fine (although not consistent). You'll easily get a whole day unless you spend most of the day gaming. Do the usualy things to cut battery consumption if you run low. Performance is good. The camera has potential but the low light performance of the built in camera software is crappy. Its over-processed. Use a modified version of Google Camera available on these forums. (no root needed). I've had no problems with bluetooth connection to my car (Mazda).
4. No essential tweaks, but that is personal taste. The LG interface is pretty feature rich, includes theming and fonts, and offers launchers with either an Iphone-like home screen or the traditional Android screen with an app drawer and widgets. Of course you can use any launcher you want, like Google Now or Nova.
Overall I am very satisfied with the phone, especially using the modded Gcam. Some people here have complained about the lack of frequent updates, but this is a matter of expectations. The G6 is expected to get an Oreo update by June.
Enjoy!

So i wanted to make the Immersive mode work, it works flawlessly in almost all apps, except all Google apps.

I followed this guide. The ratio changing (to 18:9) in settings is not avaiable for native apps, only installed ones. How can I fix this? It makes the google apps look really weird, especially the browser, with two black bars.
