[Q] How to disable Lock screen swipe left to Camera shortcut - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After turning on the phone, on the lock screen (doesn't matter which type, swipe, pin, pattern) if I swipe from right to left, the camera is activated. Is there a way to disable this function? I just got the phone for 2 days, and I've accidentally *while the phone is still inside of my jeans pocket* activated the camera this way countless times already. Please help.
thanks

No you don't need this app
Go on a new lockscreen page to add a widget and simply uncheck the camera in the first line of the widget list.

[Q] Android 4.2.2 Changes?

Has anyone else noticed that you can no longer adjust the Ringer Volume from the Lock Screen when pressing the Volume Up or Volume Down buttons?
Have not seen this noted (mentioned) in any of the Android 4.2.2 articles or videos..
Wondering if its a Android 4.2.2 change, or if its just my phone.. (started after update. could adjust prior to 4.2.2)
Also noticed the Popup (Volume Adjustment Overlay) no longer appears when pressing Volume Up or Down on the Lock Screen when music is playing..
(could probably use this thread to discuss any other changes made in Android 4.2.2 - although there are few changes)
I noticed that too. Petty annoying, if you ask me. They still having managed to have camera quick access from lock screen with pin. And why do I have press enter every time after inputting my pin? On IPhone and windows phone you don't need to and they have study access to the camera.

I noticed that they changed the tone when going down to 14% on your battery.... Not a biggie but still something.
When downloading apps from the play store it shows an ETA now, don't think that was there before. Also notification bar animation seems slower.

As far back as I can remember having android you've always been able to adjust the Ringer Volume from the LockScreen...
I like having that ability so I could put the phone on Vibrate/Silent, while its still in my pocket as I walk into a meeting (or other event)
Now I must pull the phone out, so I can unlock it just to change the Ringer..
And Also liked the ability to change Ringer Volume via lockscreen when I was at the gym, forget to turn off ringer, then must place sweaty hand on the phone to unlock.
I used lockscreen volume all the time. I don't know why they'd remove a feature like that!
I even trawled through various settings to see if I could enable it somewhere. No luck.
If you hold down power until it shows the power options, it will let you use the volume rocker.

Don't know what your point is. Just tried this and it works fine for me.
Make sure you swipe from edge of screen.

I think he's talking about when he swipes over on the lock screen to access the camera he is being asked to enter his security pin, instead of just opening the camera... or maybe its not asking him for pin, and thats what he wants.. Hard to understand what he's saying.
I just wish I could remove the camera widget from the lockscreen. I've taken maybe 2 pictures from the phone, and those were to test quality.

I enabled pin to see for myself....it doesn't prompt to enable security pin.
Yip the camera should be able to be removed - since we're talking about removing stiff, so should the icons in the status bar.
You can add a widget between the lock screen and camera though. Add a widget and press and home - allows you to move widget screens around to your liking.
Well I think the this is a restriction introduced by the device administration of my company and actually not Google's fault. But HTC sense was able to quick access the camera.

[Q] Nova Launcher double tap to lock

Double tap to unlock works with Nova Launcher if the device is locked via the back button. What I am looking to do is double tap to turn off.
Any ideas or help in configuring the Nova double tap function to execute this action?

Double tap the notification bar. You can probably set it up to shut off home screen taps too with gestures - i'd assume.

I guess this is what I'm looking for. Which setting it is to assign to the gesture of double tap in NL settings.
For now, the double tap of the notification bar works great.

What you could do is get screen off and on from the playstore and then assign that to the double-tap gesture. Hope that helps.
Thanks wargreymon89 - installing now. seems like a perfect fix.
In Nova launcher you can assign an activity for a double tap...anyone know what activity "knock knock" is? Ive went through the list a few times and couldn't figure it out.

Tried a few things, ended up using Screen Off and Lock from play store. Works like a champ. Just set double tap to shortcut, activity, then screen off and Lock.

Truck,
I assume you have Nova Launcher Prime then? I just have the regular version. Please confirm. I would love to have double tap capability again on my HTC One M8 like I did with my previous phone, the LG G2.
My M8 has double tap to WAKE already installed. Will doing this disrupt that, or just add to it? Please confirm.
Thanks,

No, you should be fine. The double tap to sleep works on the homescreen of Nova Prime, and then you already have double tap to wake on the M8. There won't be any disruptions.
Is it still not native within Nova Launcher like KKLauncher or Smart Launcher?
Do we still need third party app?
Quick question, are you guys just turning off your screen, or turning off AND locking? I'm looking to JUST turn off.

Apex Launcher

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to shut off the g2 when using a launcher? Usually you double tap on the screen to shut it off but with the launchers it doesn't allow that. Please help....

Double tap notification bar?
Get an app to turn the screen off, and set it to the double tap gesture. I use "Screen off and Lock". Apex gestures seem to be a little slower than the native Knock Knock functionality so occasionally it requires a second try or 3 taps though, nothing significant really.
There's a button on the back. They moved it from the normal side-mount location.

IamPro and Slayer are both correct. I use both of those solutions.

How to double tap to sleep without require to enter password instead of fingerprint?

I tried nova launcher with tap to sleep app, but every time reopen the phone it will require me to enter the password again.
I think this is a new marshmallow feature. If a third party app locks phone, it requires password. What happens if you manually lock or let time out.

Screen Lock Pro by Prahallad has a setting to bypass security. There is a free app by the same Dev but I haven't tried it.
Once installed you can link Nova's double tap setting to it.

Hi
Thanks for the pointer, I tried the free version of the app, and setup my Nova's double-tap gesture to use Screen Lock shortcut, I am able to lock the screen but unable to wakeup w/ a fingerprint. Is there something special you had to do?

It just turn the screen black until it lock itself. Takes about 3-4s. I know the developer wrote there 10s but it only takes 3-4s on s7e. You know it when the AOD comes on etc etc...
As of now, from what I can tell there is no way to use an app or double tap to lock the screen without requiring a pin for a non rooted phone. Apps that turn off the screen but don't lock the phone isn't really an answer.

It is an answer though. You just have to tweak the settings in the security section so the phone locks immediately. There is still a 2 sec delay but to get to lock the screen with a double tap again and get to unlock with touch ID it's fine. It costs a little over $3 though.... which isn't much but is on the steep side for such a single purpose app. There is a marshmallows touch ID workaround setting in it as explained which merely turns the display blank (although for me the edge thing is still visible) then after a really short delay the screen actually turns off and AOD turns on. With the system settings set right it actually locks securely the moment AOD turns on. Max 2 sec delay. No one's gonna get a chance to get in your phone that quick.:good:
So, I did come across this same issue, and it seemed to have started for me when I applied the May Security Update. It happened on my Note 5 and my S7 Edge. But when I applied the July security patch to my Note 5, double tap to lock WITHOUT a pin next login actually worked again, not so on my S7 Edge, after applying. Havent had enough time to research and dig, but doesn't make sense working on 1 and not the other when both are 6.01, both on July security patch, both Verizon models, and both use Nova Prime. Has had me stumped since May....
Sorry. Original post placed in forum for wong device.

Any app to turn s10+ screen off?

I know guys, there are a ton. But so far I found only two kinds:
- Some completely block your phone, not allowing you to unlock with face or fingerprint.
- Some -idk why- turn off the screen and randomly turn it on inmediatly after. This doesn't happen evertime, but it's a problem cos if you have smartlock activated then the screen is on and phone in unlocked...
I just want a way to imitate the power button single tap function. I don't like pressing physical buttons, I use a gesture to turn the screen off before putting it inside my pocket. And yesterday I pocket-dialed two people...
Nova has a double tap to sleep function, and greenify used to have a short-cut to the same thing.

I use Gravity Screen Pro. It has a pocket sensor setting, turn screen off/on by proximity, screen on/off by motion, fingerprint unlock, etc.
Either Gravity Screen or KinScreen. I have premium for both but have been using KinScreen for the past few years as it was stable than Gravity Screen, but I haven't used Gravity Screen's latest version either.

So i initially tried using Nova double tap gesture. It would turn the screen off but a second later it would go to the lock screen. Now i use Good Lock by Samsung and i actually like it a lot. In Good Lock go to the the "Family" tab - (no idea why it's called this) and then select One Hand Operation +.... I created a Small Right handle that turns the screen off when i slide it. Works great and i have yet to activate it by accident.

What region are you in? Weird, because it's an official Samsung App... let me know if you can't find it and i can post the apk for you... Also, make sure it's the 1.0.00.46 version, as they just updated it to work with Pie.
I also am desperate for this feature. Tried all of the apps and all of them go to the lock screen for some reason. I contacted a couple of developers but idk if they can do anything. Tried the one hand gestures and it does work but the thing is I still prefer double tap to lock instead of those swipe gestures. I think this feature should be natively supported like on almost every other android phone.

I use Nova for that: ||>>>Gestures & Inputs>Home button>Screen lock(uncheck "only on main home...")
then go to 'Gestures' below, click "Swipe up" and also check "Screen lock" Now, I use 'Full screen gestures" for nav bar already, so that Nova gesture setup is not messing up the nav bar gestures but rather compliments it. Example: I have some app open on the screen and swiping it up(w/o Nova) in the center would bring me to the Home screen(and that is being mimic w/Nova too) then the second 'swipe up' locks the screen. Simple, quick double 'swipe up' from any app does the trick, if you are on the home screen already then you just swipe it up only once.
I also use full screen gestures. The problem is not the gesture. The problem is that I need an app to turn off the screen. There are like a hundred apps that do that. But they all have one of the two problems I said before.
I'll look for the good lock in a bit. I have to find the apk.
"there was a network or server error. Try again later. The mapper function returned a null value"
I'm getting this error when I open good lock. Apparently it's not supposed to be use in Argentina. I'll try Nova launcher now.
