Anybody else have call quality issues? Seems like I'm hearing a lot of pops, squeaks, squeals when on most voice calls. I also hear it over my bluetooth headset.

Have you tried VOIP calls? Skype etc?
Also you never heard this before on another phone? If its not normal calling sounds, or distortions that sometimes happen. Moslty on bad connections (doesn't necessarily mean bad signal)

Please look anybody the SipDroid application working on SGS!
Do I hear the conversation from the earspeaker or the external speaker? (this is interesting because the echo)
I'm useing Asterisk server and I would like to use the pda like a softphone.
With SipDroid i get sound from earpiece. Call quality is quite decent.
I tried a few other VoIP apps and some of them work on earpiece, some not.
Sipdroid works fine.
Others don't. i can hear the other party but they can't hear me.
The same goes to Fring.

Thanx. Give please the version number of SipDroid working properly.
Several questions:
Can you switch between earpiece and external speaker?
Does the program online when it is in 3G and the device is standby?
What about the incoming call during screenlock?

yes - but with external speaker there is a lot of echo. even using earpiece i had to lower earpiece volume as well as mic gain to eliminate all echo.

It wakes up and lets you answer just like with the native phone app.

Are you using pbxes or your own voip provider?
Because I can't get Sipdroid to work on SGS.
On pbxes I can, but the quality is not good and the sound comes out of back speaker and sometimes earphone, its not consistent. I can't get the sound to come out of the earpiece though.
So someone post a solution please. I'm using the latest 1.5.4 beta.
Set the servername to pbxes.com on the phone, and not to pbxes.org. This should solve your earpiece (sound from eksternal speaker) problem.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help with the problem at all. Sound still comes from external speaker and earspeaker, inconsistently.
See issue #366 at sipdroid's project page http://code.google.com/p/sipdroid/issues/detail?id=366

On the I7500, apparently they had the same issue, so made a VOIP kernel..
And yes, I have the same problem.
My workaround at the moment is:
When I receive a call
- I hold it
- wait a few seconds
- then unhold
Then usually the audio doesn't come from the back speaker anymore.
Still, we really need a patched Kernel for this.
So when ever i receive or send a call I can hear the other person perfectly well but he/she can not hear me at ALL! Not a single word even if I'm screaming.. If i put it on speaker phone it works perfect but why on regular handset it will not work.. Anybody know what could be the cause of this? Incoming and Outgoing..
??
Have you tried it with a headset?

Which Skype version? 3.2 or the latest 4.0 abomination? If it's the latter I wouldn't blame a ROM lightly - the latest Skype is a complete fiasco quality-wise.
Yeah the new skype is really bad. If I receive a call, then the sound only goes through the ear piece but if I initiate the call then the sound routes through the loud speaker.

Yeah, this is completely Skype's fault. To work around the issue, make a voice call in Skype first, hit the speakerphone button, and then hit the video button :good:

Check to see if you have any gunk in the mic hole. I highly doubt that your mic is the issue.

I've got exactly the same problem. The phone is brand new, the mic hole is not blocked at all. I dont want to send it to service beacause it takes like 2 weeks to get it solved. Are there any service codes for sm-g900f to solve such issues? Any suggestions?

it happens to me sometimes. I am not sure if it is a fault in the handset or something else. normally it works fine, but yes I started getting complaints that my voice is far away after buying the S5 (happened to me 3 or 4 times within one month)

Try turning off Noise Reduction in the dialer settings menu. This will cause this type of problem for some people. The other TW builds that have it, also have a touchscreen button so it can be easily disabled while in-call but ours is buried in the menu.

Good deal.
I used to have a lot of problems with that feature on my Galaxy SIII.
But it didn't seem to affect everyone.

It has not solved mine, though. I noticed that if there is an app running in the bacground it worsens the case. Do not know why. Perhaps I will debrand my phone and change it to xeo.
Hello,
I have some weird microphone crackling issues.
When I call people and im using the earpeace speaker everything is ok.
But if I am using the bottem speaker the person on the other side gets really weird crackling noises and other shrill noises.
I have tested all microphones in an app all are working perfect and also in WhatsApp everything is ok in voice messages.
Some ideas?

I think you probably have a different issue, Abject's sounds like feedback (shrill) while yours seems to be related to decompressing not being smooth or fast enough from the browser, I've had this with youtube using browsers. Sorry not sure why it sometimes happens, possibly when wifi is slow
yes, we have different issues, but I also have the problems you have in voice messages

hmmm. should be definately a software thing as the native youtube or spotify app do not cause any crackling at all - even on max volume...
i have contacted essential support yesterday. lets see if they come up with something other than 'please do a factory reset'
will keep updated.
cheers

so. after a long long chat with the essential support they can confirm and reproduce my issue. after testing many scenarios they now say its the apps causing the trouble. nothing to fix for essential
last option would be a factory reset. but thats not an option for me at the moment.
haven't installed the february update yet, maybe there is something in it. never lose hope...lol
cheers
