Twrp dates on backups - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else having issues when backing up to twrp the files are showing dates of 12/31/1969. Is there a way to correct the dates?

You could check in the TWRP thread, but I think the issue is known. At least for the 2.6.3.2 I think. I have it too
Changing settings in TWRP for date and clock results into unusable TWRP for me, until I delete the TWRP folder on the SD.

Mine too, haven't seen a fix for this yet unless you want to use the TWRP Manager application. If you initiate the backup from there it will give the backup a proper time stamp.

This is so annoying

This is the third time this has happened now. I flash a ROM on my N7 then i look to restore a backup and it says file not found. But I've made a backup! How the hell can i fix this?

Is the backup made in 4.1.2 and the new rom is 4.2 (or the other way around) ?
If yes, then I'm sorry to inform you that the path where the backup reside is different in 4.1.2 and 4.2 ... so there are some steps required to use the respective files. More than that, switching in between 4.1.2 and 4.2 will require you to alter the mounting points.
No I'm on 4.2 and did a backup of stock using cwm. Now cwm cant find my backup

What version of CWM.. This is a known bug on a older version. I would suggest you check that maybe even re-download and flash cwm again. Get it from cwm web site not the one in rom manager self install....
Good Luck
I got the latest one, i will flash the stock image again. Third time lucky! Thanks for your help

Just tried again. no backups found. but when looking in my SD i have a backup. What should i mount to be able to restore?

[Q] TWRP won't backup

TWRP won't backup because apparently 'sdcard is not mounted'. The Nexus 7 runs on an emulated sdcard storage, so how do I get about doing a nandroid through TWRP?
try reflashing twrp i dont think it should behave that way

Make sure you're using the latest TWRP version.

Using the latest.
A settings reset did the job - backup went smoothly without complications after that. Thanks for the help!

You can push rom with "adb push" or flash factory rom with fastboot

Can you tell us how you fixed you so anyone in the future with the same problem can easily refer to this thread instead of creating another thread just to ask the same question.

Back on stock, update in twrp?

Hi, I restored a backup of the stock rom in TWRP. Now an update by google is pushed to my device. It is around 1 MB. Can I install it in TWRP? And how to do so?

I dont mind losing my custom recovery.

Download the appropriate update zip from here. Yours is probably the 4.3-JWR66Y-from-JWR66V.
Boot into twrp and flash it.

You are able to install it via TWRP. You can download the file from the link above. After flashing you shouldnt lose anything, but make a nandroid backup just in case.

Oh sorry. Well yes you can do that, im just not sure what location that file is downloaded to. (Try googling, or maybe someone else knows where is located)
But the one from the link i provided above should be the same as the one that will be downloaded from the system update straight to your phone.

TWRP Backup

So I made a complete backup with twrp today. My question is why do they give you the option to backup your recovery? Isn't twrp your recovery? If I was to backup from that stock backup would I be replacing twrp? What kind of inception is this lol.
Thanks.

I wonder the same thing but maybe it's if you flash cwm you can flash back to twrp but I tried to flash to cwm the other day and it said it was my recovery but would only boot into twrp. So I pretty much have no answer to your question, just more questions.

You added to my question. Also its interesting what you said. I prefer twrp over cwm. How did you flash cwm?

I used flashify. Can adb push too. I prefer CWM.

Because you just never know how badly you are going to screw up. Besides, you can check it off the list if you don't feel like it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is. If I mess up my phone that bad that I damage the recovery then the backup I made is useless no? If I messed up my twrp recovery then the backup I made of everything can't be flashed anyway.

No, because you backup your perfectly good system BEFORE you screw around with it. It's your safety net.

Yeah I understand that. But if I obliterated my recovery how would I even go about using my good backup? I would have no way to flash it.

Since TWRP is skinnable and otherwise customizable, I'm going to assume the thought was that the backup saved your customization within TWRP.
