This seems to be an ongoing problem with 4.3 and we are also noticing it on my wife's gs4 on recently updated 4.2.2. The wifi will disconnect and either not reconnect or just say "turned off". Here is an xda thread on a tasker fix which seemed to work perfectly on my note 3 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400841
Also, here is a link to the problem that includes a link to the aosp thread that we all need to sign to get Google working in a fix - http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...automatically-reconnecting-to-wi-fi-networks/
Please let me know if you have experienced any similar problems or found an alternate fix

Hey everyone.
I've been using my Nexus 4 for a little more than a month now. I've rooted my phone, flashed Paranoid Android and Franco Kernel, everything is perfect, BUT - WiFi stops working the moment my phone starts sharing data with any bluetooth device.
For example - If I skype some one or call somebody, the moment i connect my bluetooth headset to the phone, wifi stops working. The wifi icon remains on the status bar, but it stops functioning. The moment I turn off bluetooth, WiFi starts working again.
At first I thought it was a problem with PA or Franco Kernel, but after a little googling, a lot of people who haven't rooted have the same problem.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thank you.

I am willing to bet you have a faulty nexus. I got mine last week. 303k batch and first tried to link up to my Motorola Elite Silver BlueTooth. It connects and then disconnects, connects then disconnects....kept on doing this. I tried every trick in the book and could NOT get this STAY connected. The ONLY way i could get it to stay connected was by connecting the phone to my computer, but as soon as i unhook the cable, it goes crazy again. Also the other issue i noticed was the BT will disconnect wifi as well and then reconnect when trying to do speed test... I went to three (3) different t-mobile stores and tested the say BT and it worked flawlessly as it was supposed to. All three if memory serves me right were all rev_11. This morning, I tested my BT on my co-worker who bought his nexus in January and has rev_10 and it worked flawlessly. I called google and they are sending me a replacement. I will report back once i get the new one. But i am 100% you got a faulty hardware there. If i were you i will call google and ask for a replacement.
Hmm. Thanks for the reply. I'm kinda stuck with this nexus 4 because I don't live in the USA, one of my friends bought it for me.

Hi all,
I've been using Samsung Note 2 since November 2012 and have never ever had any problems in operating Wi-fi.
However, suddenly, today morning, the wi-fi has stopped working in my office. What happens is the connection process breaks down at the Obtaining IP Address stage, and then it says "Network Disabled - Poor Connection". Never has this happened ever before.
There used to be regular reminders that used to come to me for updates. However, I have been ignoring those for 4-5 months. I hope that is not the cause for this problem.
Now, I know there is an existing thread for this exact same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159603
However, PLEASE NOTE I am no techie.. I absolutely have no clue about the proposed solution(s) in this thread.. root files, DHCP, 4.1.2, 4.1.1, yadda yadda yadda - all GREEK to me.. I understood absolutely nothing from this..
Would really really appreciate if someone can provide a step by step solution guide for this problem to a guy who knows nothing about tech!
Looking forward to replies,
Paras
Wi fi Problem - Solution??
So the wi-fi works at the hotel, but doesn't work in the office!!
Could using an app called Wifi Static be a good solution?? (Couldn't post link as I'm a new user!)
Reset the AP in your office. If wifi works somewhere else besides your office it's probably the AP in your office.
I'm having the same issue too. IPhone connects fine but note 2 has issues.

My i9505 has been misbehaving when trying to connect to 5GHz wifi since the 12th of October, when I flashed the then-newest official Cyanogenmod 10.2 nightly; before that it had been working with any problem on those same nightlies. Something must have been introduced between then and the 2nd of October; I didn't do any flashing during that time as I was abroad on business, so I'm not sure exactly when the change might have been introduced. Since that time I've moved to a 4.4 ROM but the problem persists.
It seems that I'm not the only one having problems with 5GHz wifi on AOSP ROMs - Google turns up various problems on different ROMs and devices. There are even suggested solutions such as editing text files in /system/etc/wifi or changing one's router's channel. None of these work for me.
The symptoms vary. Some of the time the device will simply refuse to connect to 5GHz networks. Other times it will connect and work normally for a time, anything from approx. 1 minute to 30 minutes or more (the latter making me think for a while that the problem is fixed). But, eventually, apps will stop getting a network connection and I'll be unable to ping anything. Despite this total lack of connectivity the wifi indicator will show that the device is still connected to Google's servers. Turning wifi off and on will start the cycle again, until I give up and switch back to 2.4 GHz.
This is rather frustrating and I wonder if anyone has any clue what it might be, or how it might be investigated further.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Yes, i have similar problem. i changed few custom roms, and nothing helps. First, it works normal, for few minutes, then wi fi go automaticly off, and then i cannot connect to wi fi network
I noticed this on 4.3 all versions, but since I updated to 4.4 official on my i9505G, the problem went away. I think it may be s bug in the NON-HLOS in the 4.3 roms .. official or otherwise.

I think it came in on 4.3, and I wonder why it is still affecting me on 4.4 as some people are reporting that has been fixed.
When official jfltexx CM11 nightlies come out I'll try a clean flash to see if there's any change.
I decided to try something similar - I updated to the latest UK firmware and then did a clean flash of an unofficial CM11 4.4.1. 5GHz Wi-Fi still doesn't work properly, as above.
I can get better results within a couple of metres of the AP.
Hi,
After learning so much on the forum, this is my first post.
I've never seen a problem like this and I did everything I could in order to solve it. I really ask for the help of forum members to shed a light...
PROBLEM:
When the internet is set on WCDMA/GSM or WCDMA only, it works for a little time (something between 10seconds to 5 minutes) and stops for a random time (something between 1 to 30 minutes).
If I make a call and it connects, during the duration of the call the HSPA works flawlessly (That is way too weird!)
FACTS:
1 - The internet works perfectly in the GSM only mode
2 - The place where I'm has a great reception for the HSPA (I have another phone to make sure of it)
3 - I did a complete factory reset and now I've KitKat 4.4 (installed through Odin) and the phone is rooted. The problem was there before all of that.
4 - As I said, during a call the connection works great without any problems at all.
Is there anything I can do? I complained to my service provider and they opened a file to send to the tech department.
My guesses are either there is something wrong with the SIM card or with my line. But I want to rule out any software or hardware issues...
Is there anyone that can help me?
Thanks
I've had glitchy internet once after flashing a custom ROM. Couldn't find anything wrong as well.
Then I stumbled on a tip from someone who said it could be the location settings under Google settings.
I switched once to GPS only and then selected high precision and after that the problem was gone.
Don't know if it will help you but definitely worth a quick try.
Hope it helps.

What are you running? Stock? Unrooted?
If not, be sure you aren't using any Xposed Modules or apps that automatically tweak your data connection.
Make sure your APN settings are correct for your provider.
Other than those things, I can't think of anything else that would make your connection as wonky as it is.

Ryo,
I'm running stock KitKat 4.4.2. Anyway, the problem was there on 4.3 also. Yes, it is unrooted but with just a few apps and none of them messes the conexion...And, in any case, I've done hard resets at least 3 times...
Reefee
Thanks for the info. Unfortunatly without luck. Still, I've found out that while the GPS is working (say, under Google Maps), the HSPA also works...
Helllo,
I could not find any revelant thread for this and so i waited for the Marshmallow update and not yet to come so i thought i could use some professional help to fix this irritating issue.
I have HTC One m9+ and so far everything is going well with the phone, except one single thing and driving me crazy which is the internet issue.
I have two major issues:
1- When phone is on WIFI at home and i did not use for some time, the phone seems to be disconnected from the internet .. and i have tried all possible tweaks and settings for power saving and sleeping but nothing worked so far, the only thing that is possible for me is to keep on data 4G all the time, which comes the other problem
2- When on Data (3g or 4G) the phone sometimes loses connectivity completely, i just have to wait and wait until i get 4G connection again.. although signal is ok and i still receive calls but just data stops.. i tried matching settings like my galaxy note 3 and checking different APN from ISP but still same.
However, the first problem is more important, but if you can help me with both it will be great
Hello, update that the problem is actually in Whatsapp application and not the rest of the phone, on WIFI whatsapp does not receive any messages unless i open it after unlock (works fine on data)
I tried PNF and change heart beat but still the same. background data is enabled for whatsapp, notification all good, reinstalled application.. still the same
Do you have some ports blocked at your Wifi? WhatsApp and other messenger like Viber are using some ports which may be blocked at Univercity Wifi or other Wifi's...

Yes, I get exactly the same. Seems that switching on Bluetooth causing significant issues with Wi-Fi. Should have been fixed by HTC ages ago.
I am on the latest EU firmware 1.90.401.3 - I don't think it used to be an issue.
