When trying to use TWRP It sits at wiping system for 20+ minutes before it finally clears, makes flashing roms a nightmare on this rom. Does anyone have a fix for this?
in twrp settings select the use rm -rf instead of formatting.
it will take seconds to perform the wipe.

I tried this, it just gives the red failed message with this setting on.

Ok, so i had the dudes build on my phone (1.2) and i decided to try and put my apps on my sd. i had already had my sd card with the ext 2 partition so i followed these instructions from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512743) :
Code:
Next, after the reboot, I ran the apps2sd 2 app again and pressed "copy apps to sd" (let it do its thing)
Reboot.
Next I went back to the emulator and typed:
su
mkdir /system/sd/app-private
mkdir /system/sd/dalvik-cache
[B]Reboot.[/B]
Go back to the apps2sd 2 app and hit move dalvik-cache.
Reboot for good measure and your done.
i got to the bolded reboot and after my phone booted up, many of my apps were missing (including appstosd) and many of them were named com.____.____. i decided to restore from a nandroid backup that i had made before doing anything with appstosd and that seemed to work fine. i later realized that i could no longer install apps (an error would occur) and a few hours later my phone turned off. when i turned it back on it got stuck at the android boot screen so once i got home i wiped my phone and attempted to restore from the nandroid backup. i am still stuck at the android screen and am not sure what to do.
If you are stuck at the android screen I would try to reflash the update and maybe that will fix it, That works for me when I am stuck in a bootloop sometimes.
Easy
Phone wont Fully boot up because you messed up on appstosd.
Programs wont install because they are being routed to your sdcard which isnt set up right.. (Also Dudes latest build has apps2sd set up automatically)
Wipe... Restore one of your backups.... Or Just Reflash it with a different build.,
Format your card and then just use Apps2sd2 (program) to repartition your sdcard/setup appstosd
SHOULD FIX ALL YOUR PROBLEMS....
I had the same thing happen. cyanogen 4.04, come to find out that you don't use ApptoSD anymore. But there all the old threads for partitioning us ApptoSD to do it.
Now I'm stuck at the recovery screen without a nandroid back up. Can I use one from someone else?
Or what should I do?

It's probably best to start over: wipe your ext, wipe and your nand, and reflash.
To wipe your ext, boot in to recovery and go to the console-
Code:
mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
rm -r /system/sd/*
Then perform a wipe and reflash the ROM. A2SD should be working again.
My buddy just got the hero and I rooted his phone and im wiping it and putting on a new rom and like always i always wipe data and dalvik and it says
"Error : Run 'wipe dalvik' via adb!
How do I wipe it thru adb? What commands?
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm -rf /system/sd/dalvik-cache
Otherwise just power off the phone, restart into recovery and try to wipe it again.

The above two solutions should fix your problem. The reason you're getting that error message however is most likely because you're running a older version of the Recovery ROM. Amon has said that the older versions (anything older than 1.6.2) will give you that error message when you try to wipe dalvik.
His later version 1.6.2 fixes this problem, so I would consider upgrading. Also, even though it's giving you the error message, it does actually clear Dalvik -- this was confirmed by a logcat.
Hi,
I have an rooted ATT D800 with TWRP.
I was trying to flash AEON V2 rom. TWRP started to wipe /system. After 20 minutes, nothing happened, stuck on the beginning of the process. I was unable to stop it, so I reboot the phone.
Then the phone don't boot Android, stuck at LG logo... After this, tried to reinstall rom, but now console shows a message: "/system is not mounted".
Now I can't wipe anything (/cache for example), and also can't install any ROM. ADB don't seem to work...
I get into "mount" on TWRP, and i wasn't able to mount System. Other two are mounted.
Any idea?
I get into the options and enable "force use rm -rf" and now i'm able to wipe.
I still can't mount /system. Search on fstab and its pointing to /dev/block/mmcblk0p34 but i can't do more..

Flash the stock rom? Whit the kdz flasher (i forgot the name) and try again to wipe data
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
Seems that this doesn't work with AT&T D800 (read in other forums). Anyway, I don't find KDZ firmware.

I can't help you but if you start a new thread with a title like "can't mount system, can't boot, need help" or something like that you significantly increase your chances of getting help.
Had this also!
Try this (it worked for me)
if u have a backup restored try this:
1. go to restore
2. select backup and untick all boxes (data, boot, system and dalvik)
3. select boot and click restore
4 after its done, select data and click restore
My point is.. restore them 1 at a time and then it will succeed
Problem is that the /boot is corrupting the /system file! Thats the reason it gives you errors...
Just restore one at a time and after the last one is restored (/system) then just click reboot
Mind that /system takes about 15 minutes to restore so be patient
Trying install this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494756
Went to CWM and started full wipe/reset and it got stuck on:
Formatting /cache
had to hard reboot with long press on power button then my stock room booted up, so means nothing formatted...
What to do next guys?
Thanks!
Install twrp, and in preferences check format method -r, fs. Somthing like this. Or wait longer, with standart formating it takes up to 20-30min!

Why does the cache take forever to format on the G2?
ditto
same thing happened to me during a rom install
as i have only had the phone a week i was a bit flustered
i did what they recommended
went into twrp settings and checked <<use rm - rt>>
and then reinstalled the rom, reboot was ok this time
so far so good
yeah i have the same question about wiping cache - on my samsung note 2 using twrp it was so fast
This is a problem in twrp i think, i was using twrp on many devices before, but didn't have any problems with wipe.
Phone is working, I suppose doing his job in the process. The problem is that I am waiting already 20 minutes. I am afraid of getting CPU burnt (it is at 51 grades of Celsius).
I have read about the issue and about also the solution [enabling rm -rf in the twrp settings]... But now I am in the process, so not sure if I should shut the phone down or not..
Did you do a factory reset or advanced wipe?
I used advanced wipe, I got really angry with formatting so I removed the battery ... but now I have a problem: failed to mount system... I installed the twrp through odin... And before that I did not do anything, do I have to unlock bootloader or something like that?

No. Your bootloader is already unlocked, otherwise it wouldn't have let you flash TWRP.
Have you tried factory reset? Or mounting system manually?
You can also try to mount system by using TWRP's built-in terminal emulator.
Now I flashed 4.4.2 with and Odin, phone was ok. Then I flashed latest twrp and now the system was mounted. I did a backup and wiped all again with advanced wipe. Then I tried to install ROM but it fell again to a error 7 - system not mounted. How can I mount it manually? what command is that?

Error 7 means the ROM is not compatible with your model.
Have you tried different version of twrp?
That was a really terrible testing day... I tried every twrp till version 2.8.6 that worked after odin flashing. I managed to mount system and do all wipes. I flashed ROM and gapps, everything went smoothly... But the thing was that the phone started to shut down by itself. Without a message, simply black screen and restart and bootloop after samsung logo. I decided to load 4.4.2 stock with repartitioning (pit file)... 10 hours ok and then again shutting down by itself.
Have you experienced this kind of behaviour?
