Tomorrow I have an upgrade available and am thinking of getting the Note 2. I own the first note and enjoy it. I also own the Note 10.1 and enjoy it but seem to still use the Note 1 more. I mainly use for pictures, Facebook, movies and music plus the occaisional eBook. Not a lot of office work. I do take some notes with Spen work but not daily.
I'm thinking if I get the Note 2 selling the Note 10.1 as here would be a lot of money invested in 2 similar devices. The original note is going to my son.
I am just thinking this through and thought I would throw this out there to see if someone else has thought of uses or thoughts I haven't yet. I'm sure others have both the 2 and 10.1 but for me that seems a little much. I guess I could get the iPhone 5 and keep the 10.1 tablet and have the best of both worlds. I do use GPS on my note phone though. Hmmmmmm.
Please don't flame. I'm seriously just looking for, if it were me I would and their reason. Happy New Year. I guess the other thing to mention, I'm a teacher and a parent that does a lot of running one place to another but I usually leave my tablet at home.

Seems like your happy with note. It will get upgraded to premium suite as well.
If note can do all u want it to do, why upgrade?? Why not wait for s4?
I like the ability for spen and screen capture on the fly. Basically the 2 has the guts of the 10.1. So I could make that my main device and sell the 10.1 and just pick up a laptop or different tablet like the Surface down the line.

I don't think they are that similar. A 5.5" display might be similar enough to a 7" display to say you can get away with a single device but there's a huge difference between consuming and creating content on the smaller display vs. a 10" display. I had a Teg3 One X that I replaced with a N2 so I could replicate all my files, settings, apps, and content on it and my Note 10.1 and use both the same way including S Note and S Pen. Which I'll reach for depends on what I'm doing. I use the N2 for music, quick e-mails, MMS, and quick browsing. I use the 10.1 for most creation stuff, video playback, the majority of my web surfing, and anything that looks better on a bigger display. If I had to give up one I'd give up the N2. But I’m a heavy productivity user and everyone's needs and uses are different so it's a matter of preference.
Appreciate the input. I'm more of a video, picutre, facebook, audio video consumer with the funny comment here and there with the spen doodle. Maybe a few notes a few times a year is why I'm thinking that the phone maybe enough. Also maybe little to moderate gameplay. I'm not heavy in the production or video editing. I could probably get away with the phone and maybe a 7 inch kindle but they seem too simplified. I like to experiment with custom ROMs, bit short of that I'm a teacher and a Dad has who wants a device to keep me busy at daily school volleyball and basketball practices.

I was in a similar situation a couple of months ago. I choose to keep my Note 1 for the impending official 4.1.1 update + premium suite. Instead of getting the Note 2, or selling my Note 10.1, i chose to use my upgrade on the LG Optimus G. The raw power, speed, potential of this device is incredible. Sleeper hit of the year imo!
Droid DNA +note 10.1 best of both worlds

Not sure if I understand what you mean exactly. Are you saying you're not sure if you want to keep the original note 1 phone, and sell the note 10.1 to get the note 2?....as the note 10.1 is too similar to the original note? If that is the case then I'd say it's a totally crazy idea as you'd have two phones of nearly exactly the same size.....And you've just said that you think the note 10.1 is too similar to the original note, so i dont really understand. The original note is getting a firmware upgrade soon so the only difference would be the slightly bigger screen. I think either of the note phones complement the note 10.1

Sorry, ignore my last post. I didn't read the bit about your original note going to your son.
Anyway, I still think the two notes complement each other.

I'd sell the note 1, upgrade to note 2 and keep the 10.1. I wouldn't been seen watching a movie on a 5 inch. I use my HTC one x for my daily needs, as soon as I get home the note 10.1 comes out and HTC goes to sleep.

I considered getting a note 2 rather than the note 10.1 to replace my aging tablet. What I finally did was replicate the note 2 in cardboard, with the screen dimensions marked as well. After that, I decided I really wanted the tablet. I'd love to have a note 2 as well, but I can't justify the price since I don't live in an LTE area. If you haven't yet, check out the note 2 in person. Although the screen is a bit longer, it's also narrower. Now that Samsung has announced the update to the note 1, I may look for a decent used note 1.
Thank you all. Just what I was looking for. Things I hadn't thought of. Sometimes I just feel guilty leaving a 500.00 tablet at home. The school I work in That thing would be gone in minutes. I've decided I'm going to look at the Note 2 today. If I get it mess with it for a few days. Then decided to keep or sell the 10.1.

Well I bought the Note 2 and today. I left a more detailed description on the Note 2 forums. However I think I can find a use for both the 2 and the 10.1. Movies just look so nice on the 10.1. I think Dad is going to spoil himself band keep both.

Hello i was wonderig if i should jump in and get the note 3 which would be my first note device or wait for the S5. As of now i have a S4, and well spec wise the note 3 and S4 is pretty close. Input would be great thanks in advanced.

I said the same thing when the s4 came out and just decided to wait for the Note 3.
I had the Note 2 and the s4 was just too small for my liking. Cant go back to "small" screens.
s5 will more than likely have more/better features than Note 3 (no s-pen or those features though) but if you're going to wait for the s5, why note wait a couple months and get the Note 4?
Its all down to preference and what'd you'd like out of your phone.
Do you want a note size device or S sized device? I can't see them making the S much bigger or it could canabilize Note sales. Also specs will be better on the S5.
I think you'll always be waiting.. because when the S5 come out the Note 4 will be around the corner and whatever else HTC or LG device that might come out
If size isn't a issue you have no problem get the Note 3..The s5 won't come out in January if you listening to that rumor

There is always something better right around the corner. Larger screen and device or smaller screen and device? That should answer your question.
Honestly, The Note 3 is damn near everything you Could want. It's excellent, I'd get it. It'll still be great this time next year.
sEnt from thE noTe 3
Every time you wait, there will always be something newer/better on the horizon. The St will not have the S-pen so if you want that you need something from the Note line... but as long as you're waiting, I'm sure there will be a Note 4 next year.

Note 3 is better with sophisticated software Jelly Bean 4.3.
Note 2 noproblem because still use Jelly Bean 4.1.2, My opinion was Jelly Bean 4.1.2 still the best.
I'm no expert but,
Note 3 n9000 apparently has no hardware knox counter, I don't need 4g as 3g is fast enough, I wont ned tovtake 4k videos ever, and the 4+4 core makes sense to me.
that's my opinion anyways.

Don't forget the camera on the 3.
Don't forget to use commas and periods, either.
Had Note 2, got the note 3. It's awsome. The screen is amazing. No problems with it.
I don't know of any problems on my Note 3.... Just beautiful

People brag about every little thing. In majority these issues doesn't exist
I have used the note 2 for a year and note 3 for a little over a month now. I can tell you with 100% certainty that note 3 is better in every possible way and is definitely worth the price increase from the note 2.

I've had the note 2 since launch and upgraded to the note 3 on launch also and I feel like the note 2 was way more functional than the note 3. Especially the s note. I still have my old note 10.1 and the s note there is so much more organized and has features that were taken out of the new notes.... Basically all I want is my old s note app on my new note 3 I would be extremely happy if I could do that.
Ps action note is so powerful yet to useless.... why would they separate it from s note? Ugh I feel cheated I should have just kept my note 2

i recently broke my Note 2 (evidently the note 2 can't take being thrown at a wall, even in an otterbox) and I am looking at upgrading my phone. I am really interested in the Note 3, but i am a big fan of rooting and romming. also i had the wifi hotspot/tether hack done on my note 2, is this a viable thing on the note 3??? i had the otterbox, anker extended battery, can i get these accessories for the note 3??? whats y'alls impression of the note 3 since some have had it for a while, and those of you that came from or still have your note 2, should i jump to the note 3 or stay with the note 2??? thanks in advance for your thoughts and assistance...
I upgraded from the Note 2 after I said I wouldn't but I played with the Note 3 and liked it alot. Well yea....duh it has a ton of accessories. ?
