I am unequivocally saying that after many many phones from the G1 and iphone to all the galaxy's , HTC one all the nexus phones and some nokia lumia's the MOTO X is the best phone I have ever had!
Size= awesome screen to phone size ratio
Screen= Those who complain are nitpicking it is totally indistinguishable from a 1080p without a magnifying glass
Hardware= great quality and build...GO USA
Software= Incredible blend of stock with motorolas great features, I use every single one from Moto Assist, touchless, Moto connect on chrome and especially the awesome Active notifications.
Ergonomics= Best in hand feeling of any phone I have ever had
Camera= My camera is actually pretty stellar I have posted some pics on here shots are crisp and clear. ( Also use the twist to launch quite frequently )
Microphones= easily the best and most clear sounds when on the phone. Speaker phone is really really good also
I have no desire to root and love this phone just the way it is!
Any questions just shoot!
Definitely an awesome phone. Camera is good (thanks to the update) but still not quite as good as the GS4 in my opinion, very close though! The only real thing that keeps it from being perfect for me is the non-unlockable bootloader and thus lack of roms/dev community. While rooting and Xposed Framework is nice (although no longer possible after the software update), I found that it lagged the phone a bit.Coming from a GNex, I'm also gonna miss constantly having the latest software. All that said, as a Verizon user who doesn't want to give up their service... I find this to be the best phone on their network.

Bootloader is a non-issue for me- this phone definitely does not need a custom ROM. I really don't see how it can be improved at all. I use Xposed and at least on my phone, there is ZERO lag. Indistinguishable from bone stock. Even if we had an unlockable bootloader and 1000 ROMs to choose from, I wouldn't even consider flashing one. And I used to flash a new ROM every week on all my other phones. First phone I've ever had where I didn't want to flash.

Agreed. I feel like this is what Google had in mind all along. This is Android the way it's supposed to be.
I have to agree. It feels premium refined and beer functional
I'm with you guys. This phone is so amazing as stock, I have had this phone for over a month now and I am still positively in love with it. I took the update without hesitation, knowing I would lose the ability to root. Every other phone I've had was rooted and completely reconfigured the day I bought it... I am now enjoying a completely different side of Android.
Everything from performance to stability, comfort to battery life is stellar.
I took my wife and kids to the Star Wars yesterday, the twist to launch camera feature was awesome! Couldn't use flash there and many of the photos came out great... I got more, good, photos than my wife did on her Nikon DSLR camera. I was very pleased at the cameras performance in low light levels.

Oh, and while everyone was fumbling with their phones unlocking the screen or looking for camera icon, I took it out of my pocket, turned it on with twist motion without moving my arm or taking my eyes off of the stage, and took 8 shots by holding the screen, and slid the phone back into my pocket like a bad ass. I only wish my orange chrome accent would glow in the dark. This is like the super spy phone.

Compared to some phones, iPhone 5 and sgs4, this camera is kinda weak. That being said, I'll gladly take the trade off for easy and fast launch and quick photos that still look more than good enough for me.
I think some people just expect professional quality photos from their smart phones these days... Some phones do... But to the majority of us, this phone takes photos well enough.
And I agree, some people will ***** regardless... If it wasn't the camera it would be something else.

So true
Camera is good enough, I spend about a couple minutes on all my photos and touch them up with snapseed. I don't mind and it's definitely worth the trade off for active notifications and touchless control. It's fun and easy to do and when the photo is done it gives it more personality. (Then a well focused sharp shot)

Ok guys ive been reading mixed comments about the Atrix that its good and that its not. I was in 2 minds whether to get the Atrix or the LG Optimus 2X. Originally I was gonne get which ever I could get my hands on 1st. Both have their pros and cons i.e. camera, ram, locked bootloader, screen quality, internal memory etc
Well I decided to get the LG and this comment made in the o2x forum sealed it
Ive been using my atrix couple weeks an am falling out of love with it fast, after yesterday it ramdomly shut off 2x an today once sofar. The screen is beging to bother me the screendoor washed out look. Allready returned lapdock, that cant even compare to a real laptop in my opion. So im looking hard at the Lg 2x for an upgrade of camera, gyroscope, performance, faster upgrade to gingerbread, real mirroring, 1080p recording an play back, 7.1 sound, totaly unlocked phone. Yes 512mb memory is trade off, but operating system will handly that, an the battery is non issue, I'll have a spare battery or a charging source anyway. Not to mention not paying 20/month to not tether, an having my data speeds throttled down to 1.5mb down an 310kb up lat of 350-800. An Atrix doesnt do LTE

But now im stiill thinking what to do as Im so impatient and want a dual core phone asap. So I made this poll to see everyones view
Coming from a N1, there's not that much improvement. I'm satisfied, but not amazed by this phone. Still debating if I should return it and wait it out.
My impressions:
-Definitely faster, everything is much snappier, but browsing-wise there's not much of a difference.
-Screen is bright and sharp (as long as you don't put your face within inches of the screen you won't really notice the pentile display. But it's still an annoyance when you notice it)
-Camera is marginally better. Pretty disappointing for a flagship device. Plus the media gallery lags like this is a 2 year old phone when zooming in and out.
-GPS is amazing
-Pretty much Motorblur slows this phone's speed and potential. If this device was stock or able to flash truly custom ROMs, it'd be screaming in speed and blow every competitor out of the water.

Custom ROMS would make it a whole lot better.
19 voters.. 2 responses.. lol
I think it lives up to the hype.. couple quirks I miss from my captivate but.. besides that the phone is solid.
Now I just got to wait for Tango to support our phones :T
Came from the LG Expo. A much better improvement than the last generation phones. The phone just beats about everything out of the expo. Only thing getting to me is that the expo's fingerprint scanner doubled as a trackpad (would've been nice to have for editing text's)

This pretty much summed it up
I think this is a situation that there is not enough tangible usage of a dual core for majority of people. Most of people wont notice any improvements in UI speed. We need evolution of software just like in iOS that despite this same architecture people could understand what the new software is bring them.
It feels a bit like a premature technology and we are all living dreaming of tomorrow while we are beta testing for Motorola/Samsung/HTC.
Just 2 cents.
Believe what you want but I love the Atrix. Had a captivate and it doesn't compare. My phone has never rebooted or lagged- I don't know what others do to theirs but my phone is rock solid.

I'm lovin mine all around. For people who return it because of locked bootloader, I'd say that you knew that when you bought it if it's a dealbreaker.
The webtop dock alone has made this phone exceed the hype. All thanks to the devs
You guys rock

i have a nexus one and now and atrix and have had it for about a week and i love it. It works great, no random reboots or anything ... just smooth sailing.
I know i can not customize it like I could my N1 but I think that day will come in time. I'll wait ...
Yes, it lived up to the hype in my opinion.
Came from Nexus One. Love the Atrix. It fast and solidly built. Im not sure why everyone said motorblur slow the phone down. I use ADW launcher and it scream.
The Atrix doesn't live up to the Best of CES 2011 hype. The locked bootloader, 1080p "coming soon" recording, overpriced lapdock, overpriced multimedia dock, and good-but-not-great screen keep it from living up to the incredible hype it garnered when it was announced.
Your poll is worded slightly differently: Was the Atrix worth it?
I just came from an ancient Iphone 3g, so the Atrix is absolutely amazing in pretty much every way compared to it and finally getting to use my upgrade was absolutely worth it!
I originally tried out a Captivate for about a week back when I first came up for an upgrade last november. It kept turning itself off (not sleep, total shutdown so I wouldn't receive calls, txt, email ect.) which was a deal breaker. The useless GPS didn't help it's case either. Screen was gorgeous, speed was decent, build quality was ok, battery life was ok. Anyways, I sent the Captivate back after a week, I couldn't have a phone that didn't take phone calls.
First and foremost I love the speed. This thing is lightning fast and seems to have horsepower to burn under the hood. Second is the battery life, I get home from work most of the time with over 40% battery power remaining which is absolutely astounding, my iphone couldn't make it through a full day without getting some juice at my desk and while the captivate did, it was usually at 10-15%. I'm also using the Atrix more than either of the others because I don't feel like I have to conserve battery power to make it through the day.
After those two big features, there are a bunch of less important things that I like:
Finger print scanner is great, I can unlock the phone without even looking at it. I know this doesn't sound important, but it's surprisingly useful when I'm just trying to pull information off my phone quickly and can have it already unlocked as I'm pulling it out of my pocket.
GPS is the best I've experienced on a phone, and better than some dedicated GPS units I've had the displeasure to work with.
Build quality (contrary to some reports I've read) is quite good imo. The phone itself is very sturdy feeling when held by the sides. The back cover is a bit flimsy, but it is also what convinced me to skip getting a case for the Atrix, if it gets scratched I'll just get a new back.
Gorilla Glass is not glued to LCD. Should keep repair costs down.
HDMI out is great, webtop with working firefox extensions is awesome.
Some good, some bad:
Screen resolution is good (colors not so much). The auto-brightness seems to be set a little low imho. I only notice a pentile effect on particularly small+thin fonts.
Camera is surprisingly good in low-light and indoor conditions. Not especially great overall though, tint seems a little off. May just need to set up a custom photoshop filter to correct it.
Call quality is good in quiet conditions, very clear reception and a detailed microphone. Not so good in noisy or windy conditions, the mic picks up a lot of extraneous noise, people are often asking me what's going on or where I am now based on background noise.
I haven't had much reason to use the front facing camera...frankly with AT&T's network I think video chat is a gimmick more than anything else.
I wonder about the finger print scanner/button longevity.
I wouldn't necessarily say the Atrix is the best phone around, but it was the best phone that fit my requirements (ATT, asap, batt life, fast) and so far I like it a lot.
Running ADW Launcher and really like the Advanced Clock widget.
I took mine back and have the Nexus 1 now; I liked the speed but for the most part, my 2.3.3 phone is about as fast; the main thing slowing these phones down now is the network speeds anyway.
If I'm on a wifi network, they're all pretty much the same speed.
Living up to the hype? Definitely not. There are a lot of small problems with this phone that a lot of people don't like; to me, it feels slightly rushed.
I came from an iPhone 4 and I haven't missed the iPhone experience yet. I started with the HTC Inspire which is a nice phone but the battery is rotten and the volume from the phone was pathetic. The Atrix has been an awesome phone for me. It has pretty good battery life so far and yes there are no truly custom ROMs but Adeo (REDUX) has made the UI lag go away on my end and I know others have said the same thing. I am loving the experience of this phone.
Just know that anytime you get a phone shortly after a better one will come out. It's all user preference and what you want and what you think is important. I'm happy but guy x may not be happy. So use one and if you don't like it don't keep it.
I went from a HTC Fuze directly to the Atrix. I love it. (almost) Everything about it. I have played with the Inspire and a couple other 2.1/2.2 devices (girlfriends captivate) and this thing stomps the crap out of them. The colors are just a little off, but that's probably just me going for an extreme upgrade from the phone I had before.
The *ONLY* gripe I have about it is the locked HSUPA. But with all good things come some bad, I think I'm gonna stick it out with the Atrix. Not only that but Spectral Souls looks amazing on it
Guys, please, help me to make a right decision.
Is it possible to buy AT&T version of Motorola Atrix and use it outside US? Is it simple to unlock it? Or where do you recommend to purchase unlocked phone.
P.$.: does motorola have any plans to upgrade it 2.3/3.1 in the future? As I know it's not the trivial to customize firmware for motorola phones (my old G1 can be customized without any problems).
Thanks a lot.
The phone is great nuff said.... We are all a bit too picky but for what its worth this is really the only phone out right now that can take down the iphone 4. My iphone 4 has just been sitting on my night table since I got the Atrix. Atrix has so much more potential and the Android os is so much more pleasing than iIS. Once the bootloader gets cracked its game over!

How is the Screen? Compared to lets say SAMOLED and Retina.
Is the Sound Quality good in the music player?
Is it truly faster?
Camera Good?
Will 2.3 make it REALLY fast?
With the way phones move and become outdated will the Atrix ever realize its true potential?
How is the build Quality/In Person?
Are YOU overall satisfied with it?
There was SO much hype behind it and what happened?? Now people are saying it was a waste, not good, disappointment, etc.

Well, i have the atrix myself and honestly im thinking of selling it an buying the lg optimus 2x. the biggest plus for the atrix are the better battery, the superior screen, and well the 1gb ram as opposed to the 512 on the lg, webtop is not bad either, but the locked bootloader is a legendary fail on the atrix (including all the restrictions moto put on...), for instance the optimus already has a working cm 7 mod, i dont believe atrix will have one anytime soon. however if you dont want to mod it and stuff than the atrix is great for you. The phone is fast, camer is semi decent, some phones have worser build quality than others ( i exchanged mine due to a nonworking fingerprint scanner - it was just some software bug and got one that has a squeaky shell ... im still hitting my head against the wall for swapping it out ...). I have a simunlocked one thats att branded tho and i had issues with wifi, to get it to work in my country, which i luckyly managed to fix some now im in general satisfied with it, it does pain big time tho that we cant do cm7 or other custom roms/kernels on it.

Mine likes to watch.
I find the screen to be good, yes its only LCD but the resolution is high and its is sharp and clear, then I don't find AMOLED screens to be as superior as everyone tosses on about anyway.
Sound quality is great, dependant on source of course.
Camera i find to be very good, slight annoying delay after button press for it to focus, but I can get very good shots with it (for a phone). People that diss a camera phone because of pixel count are retarded and don't know **** about digital cameras.
2.3 gives quite a boost to most phones so I guess so.
There are several more Tegra 2 phones to come out yet, i think it will only mature as a device. Exponentially if Moto unlock the bootloader.
I dont think you will get better build quality in a plastic bodied phone.
Sure am.
Most of this talk is centred around the locked bootloader an motoblur. motoblur can be gotten rid of easily with root and all fingers crossed on the bootloader thing.

1. screen's not bad. Doesn't match in Retina and SAMOLED in awsomeness dept though.
2. Music as in by the phone itself or with 3.5mm jack in a car? Otherwise it's pretty good.
3. Yeah, it's pretty snappy. This is my 4th android phone. Fastest one so far. Not bad for a stock ROM.
4. I'm not keen on 2.3 other than it has a better app/task/battery management. Someone else has to answer this. Or google it.
5. IMO, this phone isn't selling like hot cakes. Therefore, Motorola will put this phone in the back burner for support. So no, I don't think so.
6. I like the build quality. I dropped my phone once. I was sitting on my chair and it fell out of my pocket. Not a scratch. Feels cheapish IMO. But it feels good in the hand. (That's what she said.)
7. Yes, I'm happy with this phone. Custom ROM with a dual core would be %100 orgasmic.
8. Developement community doesn't locked bootloaders. Since they can't create custom ROMs on it, why buy it y'know?
Yes

It's my first android phone and I like it, but it did teach me one thing...do not pre-order anything until someone else has it and you can read about it afterwards. I got this because of how cool my buddy's Galaxy S on T-mo was to load new roms and overclocks and all that good stuff. I didn't know anything at the time I preordered about locked bootloaders.

Very much enjoyed your review. Thanks.
Nice review, I was in the same boat as you. Got bored of tinkering with custom ROMs (had SGS, SGS2) that never actually had real stability and claimed performance. After some time, lag became too much of a pain, apps would crash, the phone would often become unresponsive...
One is, in my opinion, a mixture of iphone and the best of android. Really lag free OS, fast, stable, nice features, great build, looks, etc.

mee too. so sad
Love the review.
Only thing I disagree with is the camera. I think the One camera is absolutely bonkers when it comes to capturing detail (In a good way). The only thing the SGS4 will have is in good light, stuff in the background will be able to be zoomed in on. I personally prefer the One camera in every picture and video comparison i've seen.
Have to say, the Sgs4 is the biggest samsung let down for me since the SGS2 which was the best smartphone i'd ever used and it absolutely blew me away, even more so than the One has.
The update from the Sgs3 is simply not worth it. The design is worse, the build quality is worse, the phone gets far too hot, far too quickly, it's laggy, and the screen is such a massive let down. I couldn't believe how underwhelmed I felt trying out the SGS4.
HTC One is by far the best phone out, and will probably be the only phone, EVER, that I will manage to keep for the life of a contract, let alone the one month I normally keep phones before swapping them.

Thanks! And yeah, I neglected to mention this aspect of the camera, but that's very true.
Nice article. I mostly agree with you about everything but the ROM. I don't really like the stock ROM. I think the ARHD ROM is more stable and doesn't sacrifice any important features of the stock ROM.
Thank you for your insight once again :good:
I am a very picky phone owner, let me just say that right away. I always have a different phone cause I need to have the latest and greatest. After having the moto x I truly feel as if this is the best overall phone out right now for me.
The s4 was just too damn big and I felt like I always need to use both hands to do anything. Sure the camera was nice but it my daily use its not as big a difference as people make it out too be. Battery was OK, but my x is way better!!
The htc one def has the nicest screen out. But unless your staring at both of these phones side by side the difference is negligible. The camera on the one was absolutely horrible no matter what the conditions! Blurry and over processed colors. Battery life was good but again the x is way better.
I think that overall for what I use the phone for, the x is gonna be with me for a while. I love the size!!! Feel perfect, a good size screen and yet I don't need two hands to always use it. The active notifications are awesome!! Screen is good for me, I'm not one to purposely stare at the screen to try and see if I can see pixels etc. Battery life is awesome, I'm easily getting 4+ hours of screen on time. The camera is not nearly as bad as most reviews report, in my findings. Yes the s4 is better but the moto x holds its own!
I'd like more dev support cause I'm a crackflasher. I'm sure it will come. But if it doesn't happen I'm OK with it because the phone is pretty much the way I'd want a ROM to be anyways.
^^^^ i agree
^^^^^^ I agree x2
As someone who was a hardcore flashaholic this is the first phone I've had that I don't feel the need to immediately load a new ROM onto.
Agreed - I've had tons of android phones (G1, G2, evo and evo 3d, moto backflip, droid and droid 3, galaxy S2, nexus 1, nexus S, gnex, and even the kyocera echo), but once I went to an iphone 5, I swore I'd never go back.
Once ios7 was out though, android started looking more appealing to me again. Moto X is the phone that brought me back! I've gone to the store multiple times to play with the GS4 and the HTC one, but I could never pull the trigger.
The Moto X is the phone that brought me back to android. I love it

I'm glad I'm not the only one. MOTO X is nice.
This phone with a few tweaks with Xposed is really really great. Battery is stellar. The camera is not the best however once the software is fixed it will be fine. The only thing I'm missing is t9 dialer. I'll find a way to push the CM apk.

I am a very picky phone owner, let me just say that right away. I always have a different phone cause I need to have the latest and greatest. After having the moto x I truly feel as if this is the best overall phone out right now for me.

How is the video recording? Have you used it to record any concerts with bass? I'm about to get the X in November. How does it record in comparison to the HTC One? I heard the One has really good speakers and recording.. Thanks!

I agree. I also tend to always have the latest and greatest and waffle between ios and android. Most recently I came from the HTC One Developer Edition and although I really liked that phone the Moto X is much better for me. The ergonomics are just great, not much bigger than an iphone 5, and the battery is very good. The active notifications are just brilliant and with them I rarely need to use the power button, just a quick swipe and I'm were I need to be. Killer phone.
Agreed. I had the HTC One and then the GS4 Active shortly after that and now I have the Moto X. This thing runs circles around both those phones in every regard. Don't miss a single thing about either of them.

Yeah same here. Best phone I've ever owned. I got over 5 hrs screen on today with 25% left. Came from the HTC one and no regrets. Haven't rooted Yet, probably won't. Exposed framework looks interesting though.

Im also very picky in how I like my phone look and function both hardware/software. im still waiting for my moto x to get unlocked But so far I still need a new ROM.
Need to remove att garbage
Need quick toggles to be customizable. Add WiFi tethering/ flashlight etc. Also don't like how single click takes you to the menu on a specific toggle instead holding it toggles the feature.
Would like paranoid ROM, halo is a nice feature I got used to on my nexus 4
Id settle for quick toggles fix and halo (not that I have a choice) STOP SAYING YOU DONT NEED ROMS!!
That being said I like how minimalistic (ROM) Motorola is now and see myself buying more of their devices. Personally hate Samsung galaxy series. There is no need for a physical buttons on screen is the way to go.
Hope the moto x gets some good people working on Roms. I love the size of this phone and really want to stop jumping from phone to phone chasing that perfect combination. But my guess is the grass will always seems to be greener on the other side......nexus 5.

Elsnake, I never said that I don't need ROMs. I said that I would like Dev support, once some issues get worked out. But I also said that I'm OK if we stay with the level of mods we have now.

Still getting used to the smaller screen from my S4 GPe. Just got the moto x on Tuesday so gonna stick with it for a few weeks.
If I HAD to decide today I would go back to my S4. Which is why I committed to at least two weeks. We'll see.

The icons and fonts are much smaller than a s4 screen. Especially when you factor in the on screen buttons the actual usable screen is much less than than I was expecting. In fact I am not to sure if it is much bigger than my iPhone 5.

After soft bricking my GS4, I had to get a new phone while i work on that. I had been eyeing the Moto X and it was cheap. But now that i have been playing with it for a few days, its great. For me the Software is great, I love the voice commands, coming from an iphone i sorely missed siri and I feel that Moto X realy handles this better then the GS4.
As for hardware, I miss my GS4. The bigger screen was nice, and I loved the IR blaster.
If I could get the Moto X Rom on to the GS4 ( after I unbrick it) that would be ideal.
I've been looking at this phone but the fact is Nexus 5 will be a better device in terms of hardware, software and future updates.
Also I love the people here saying this is the best phone they've ever used. I think they copy paste that from their post on their prior phones.
I'm sure moto x is a great phone but its momentary. When you get your next phone that'll be the best one yet.
Prove me wrong, keep your moto x for 1 year and I'll be impressed. Doubt many of you in this forum will do that.

Coming from the Note 2 (and about every phone before that) I'm happy with my decision.
Something definitely feels off the first two days transitioning from the Note 2. Then I realized what it is: I'm not holding a mini-tablet anymore.

So through a whole of problems with the GS4, and a little stroke of luck, I happened upon a Moto X 2014. I must say, the phone is smooth as butter. But I still feel like something is missing. My battery isn't a great feet, my camera is poor at best. The phone however is the fastest and smoothest I've ever seen an android phone. It makes me melt. But after using the LG G2 which I had for 2 days before this....I miss it comparatively to this. Just as fast, much larger battery, beautiful screen. The Moto X doesn't even have a "power save" feature, and that would at lest be helpful. I almost want to wait for the Droid Turbo, but by then my 14 days would be up. I'm just not sure what to do. So my question to others.....Are you happy with this device? or would you switch, given the opportunity? If so, to what?
In happy, if the camera was better, I would be happier, but I'll hold out for L in hopes of improved camera performance. If not, I have another upgrade in April, maybe grab a turbo if it doesn't look as bad as it has in the leaked photos.
I'm think off going back the LG G2. The camera may be the breaking point for me.

I don't take many pictures, but the ones I have taken have been fine. On par with a majority of the smart phones I have owned except a few that were above average. Most of them are just "meh" and any difference is still not great so I just don't let it get to me. If pictures were priority I would still be on the Lumia 930 hands down, or maybe the iPhone 6 plus, but not most of the Android handsets available that's for sure.
Overall I love the phone though. It just a great phone to use and really when it comes down to it that is what matters. There are things that could use improvement (screen brightness, camera, battery life). But none of those factors are BAD, just not exceptional. I get through a day with ease and the screen is fine except in bright sunlight. The phone makes up for it with a great feel and ease of use. Its super fast and fluid, and little things like ActiveDisplay just make it all that much better of an experience. Of all the phones I have owned in the last year (a lot) it is the first one I feel content with and not pining for a new phone (which is rare for me). I am excited for Android L .
I love my Moto X. I too came from a Galaxy S4 running CyanogenMOD and this is so smooth without having to do any tweaking whatsoever. I've had this phone for 11 days and I already try to wave my hand over other people's phones and expect it to just turn on when I pick it up. These may be new features I can't live without.
Short answer....best phone I have ever owned
I came from the HTC One, HTC One M8, and LG G3. Also had the Nexus 5 as my daily driver before leaving it for LG G3. ... This phone trumps them all (still use m8 for low light photos)
The bad......nothing really. The camera and battery are decent enough.....just nothing to brag on.
As far as performance....nothing is close. So smooth...so fast.....so fluid.
The phone screen looks amazing and the stereo headphone jack is provides the best sound I have heard outside of the HTCOne.
No phone is perfect.....but this phone came very close
I think it's too top heavy and not comfortable to hold. Maybe cuz I got leather and have a subconscious fear of scratching it or something. Ultimately, its fate w/me is doomed due to no root on verizon.
I'll give up the X if nexus comes out on verizon.

This is the only downfall for me as well. I want gravitybox so bad. Just for the PIE controls so I can hide the nav bar. That extra screen real estate along with the one handed reachability would make this phone perfect for me.
I don't care about the camera quality, not a big deal for me. And the battery life is sufficient for me.

you'll be happy that L will bring this:
1. power saver built in
2. native code for camera stuff
3. project volt, which is supposed to help in battery
4. ...and much more
right now, there is nothing on the market that I want. so no, i would not switch. next year, maybe
after a week or so of using its okay. battery life sucks, i dont care about the camera, not sure why but many apps crash on it more than my nexus 5, and i can barely just barely see some hiccups/lag when navigating through the homescreen and some apps ill wait for android L tho

Do you have ART enabled?
This phone is not top heavy, the center of its mass is right in the middle of the phone.
Just balance it on the index finger and you will see.
Best phone I used so far as well. But I never had any flagship devices before. Just a last years moto x, moto g, galaxy i9070... and an HTC one m8 as a phone for work, that's it.
But I saw many friends struggling with flagships while I was enjoying my moto x 2013.
I gave the HTC one m8 back to my boss and use the mx2013 now for my work and the mx2014 for private uses.
The mx2013 gave me an excellent experience, so I had no other choice than buying its successor.
BTW I hated the m8 even compared to the mx2013.
If Motorola doesn't **** it up, I'll buy their devices for a long time.
I could not be happier
Battery life could be bettet but ive yet to run out of it after a full day of work
How do you enable ART and what does it change? I assume this is the ART vs dalvik thing?

It's in developer options. Don't enable it. Several users have reported an increase in force closes.
It's a bigger, faster, smoother moto x. If you liked the 2013 x but wanted something bigger, this will make you happy.
I like it, originally I let all the negative reviews get to me and even went back to my nexus 5 for a day. Then I realized how much nicer the moto x is. Its a great well rounded device. Unlocked bootloader with full warranty in tact, good camera, decent battery life, fast updates, near aosp and other great specs. Oh, and every time I'm on the phone I can smell wonderful leather lol.

Unlocking the boot loader on the pure edition does not void the warranty? I have heard it does not but not sure.

That's what I read from the Motorola feedback network administrator, he said they are "treating the pure edition like the 2013 Dev edition."
I love it, but I am interested in seeing what the Turbo and Nexus 6 bring to table, especially since it'll be on VZW. That being said, jumping to 5.2" from 4.7" was noticeable, can't really imagine carrying around 5.96"...
