Touchwiz launcher - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

ive tried several touchwiz launcher zips for install im n slimrom just kinda miss touchwiz feel is it not possible to install the zips ? they install but when my phone boots up the option to switch to that launcher isnt there it doesnt show up. slim rom android 4.3

You must have TW framework in the ROM, as the TW launcher relies on more than just the launcher apk to properly run. Slim, as well as all the other CM/AOSP ROMs do not have this framework. This is fairly common knowledge, search would have given you several thousand answers to this question. Whole point of Slim and the like is to NOT have TW.

ive also done google searches etc and found multiple ones that i have used in the past on my old gs3 with non touchwiz rom those google searches give u the apk that you can use on any rom. theres multiple ones that say use touchwiz launcher on any android so i know its possible it was on my s3 but that same file doesnt wanna work on my s4

[Q] Lock up screen

Is there a way to change that unlock bar type on Evo?
if you have cyanogenmod. Certain roms have add ons that let you flash a different lock screen also.
Thanks. Is cyanogenmod off of Market?
yes it is very possible on all Roms if youa re rooted not just CM. CM is a custom rom wont be on market. it is in the development section. you just either need to change the framework files yourself or find one of the many themes that do.
Additionally if you are looking for the 4 bar on sense there is a post in apps and themes to get it as well.
If you have rooted your phone you can delete or rename the /system/app/htclockscreen.apk and it will change over to the vanilla lockscreen, after reboot.
Can u change it to galaxy s lock screen

Look in the market for lockbot or widgetlocker, a 100% stock can run both of them. If your rooted theres some extra stuff in those apps tat you can do too.

[Q] Rom with certain features..

Hi all...
I have been searching and searching since 4.4 came out but could not find a stable rom that fits my personal preference. But its too difficult to search through every feature of every rom (I tried trust me). Now I would like ask you guys to help me if you yourself are using any such rom.
The features I find useful for me are
> Network speed in statusbar
> AC/USB charging indicator in lockscreen when charging
> Ascending ringtone
> 4.4 or above.
Mostly CM based roms have such features..
Yes I know I can get these features with apps on a stock rom.. but I dont want more memory footprints and app wakelocks..
So please guys.. some help..
Have you heard of Xposed framework? It is absolutely the most amazing thing in the universe. Makes almost anything you can do on a custom rom possible on a stock rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401

[Q] 4K Recording on CM11 or Theme Stock TW?

I grabbed a Note 3 yesterday with the view of running CM11 on it as I cannot stand Touchwiz.
I flashed it last night and it was running beautifully but I bought the phone as I want to film in 4K and it only goes to 1080p.
Is there a way to get 4K recording on an AOSP rom or can I modify a stock rom to match AOSP but leave the camera app intact?
My Note is rooted so I am led to believe I can replace system apps like the dialer and the messaging app and theme it so it looks like an AOSP rom, but I am not sure if I could do the reverse and install the Samsung Camera apk onto one of the custom Cyanogemod roms?
I have seen some of the themes but cannot seem to get Xtheme Engine, Xposed Installer and Unicon to play nicely together so the rom never changes properly.
Any pointers?

Sorry I was talking about putting a theme on Touchwiz not in CM11 so I can almost have what I want. (AOSP apps with 4K recording as it still has the TW framework)

Use Xblast or Gravity box or Wanam Xposed -- you need to be rooted of course. You can edit to look like AOSP, use another launcher. Or alternatively check out some themes by @HS™
try installing this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588075 and then flash this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480163

Thanks, that looks like something that will help me greatly. One question though, I have a N9005 and the links are for the N900T, can I use the Rom/theme on a N9005 without issue?

Sorry I thought you were using the U.S. T-mobile variant, Im not sure if it will work, you are gonna have to ask in the forum of the ROM, maybe somebody has tried it on the N9005.
I was brainstorming and had a thought about 4K recording on the Note 3 with an AOSP Rom. The Acer Liquid S2 phone also does 4K recording, could the camera be taken from that Rom and installed in an AOSP Rom as the Acer Rom is close to vanilla Android.
Would that work?

I'm sure it some other Samsung service these software requires it though. I delete the TW launcher using Titanium Backup and use a lightweight launcher on the stock ROM. Most these app still works (except the TW widgets, which non-works).

I didn't say I use CM? I simply said I delete the TouchWiz laucher from my stock Samsung ROM on my S3 4.1.2 using Titanium Back-up. Just implying that TouchWiz isn't responsible for some of the app to function, but some other service.

You're wrong - there are different between Touchwiz Launcher and Touchwiz Framework. CM has none of them. So yes you can' t still install Samsung Stock Apps with TW requirement on CM...
Touchwiz Launcher has nothing to do with the stock apps its just a launcher

I did imply "TouchWiz isn't responsible for some of the app to function, but some other service". I'm sorry, it just seems vague to say TouchWiz "framework" while there could be so many thing and you put all the possibility under one umbrella. You're partially wrong too about the TW Laucher, few apps can't work without it even at stock ROM.
I'm not here to argue, but there's so many hidden Samsung service you could try also to port instead of just the app itself. Heck it may be even Kernel related I don't know. Just giving my two cents.
HI~
Thank you very much
Does anyone have a copy of the Samsung music player app for GT-I9192? I flashed CarbonRom and the app disappeared from the phone. I really would like to get that app back onto my phone. Every time I try to install it from other places, including ones I've found on here, the installation fails, any idea why?

Does this ROM exist?!

Hey guys,
I've looked around on Galaxy S 4 i9505 Android Development and Galaxy S 4 i9505 Original Android Development.
I am looking for a ROM that has all the features that S4 comes with standard (S View, S Health, etc) but with goggles launcher and apps. I like the extra bits Samsung offer but want to ASOP feel launcher, contacts, camera etc.
Does anyone know of a rom that does this or of a way to get the experience im am looking for on the i9505?!
Thanks!

You could install a stock based custom ROM and apply an AOSP theme like the one below.
Domination theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304251
The ROM in the below thread gives the choice of stock or themed (using the above theme) and may be what you're after.

Hi,
You can install a TW ROM (I really enjoyed Phoenix ROM) and then install the Google Apps from Play Store, if I'm not wrong all of them are there. And then side load Google Launcher (just Google for Google KitKat Launcher and you may find it ^^).
And also flash the theme that was recommended to you.

This is similar to what I currently have, but I am looking for the stock phone, contacts, etc apps as well. I like the Nexus 5 feel but also the extra features the S4 has to offer.
Thanks!
