I got 30 days with my note2 and i got some decisions to make. Anyone else using the Note2 thinking of getting the Nexus4?

I wouldn't have the note 2 in the first place. You could kill someone with the size of that phone

I'm in the same boat. I only have 14 days to make my decision though. I really like the note 2, but I like the idea of not being on contract with T-Mobile hence my conundrum with Nexus 4. What are your thoughts?

Well true, because of its weight I find myself filling up more at the pump.

I think the note's size is a little much but if moving to the Nexus4 would mean going backwards as far as performance I wouldnt be happy with that either. I may just end up getting the Nexus4 on top lol.
I don't ownt he Note 2 or plan to buy one. Ever. But if I bought one, it would have been because I wanted a screen that size so I wouldn't trade it for the Nexus 4.
I don't think so...
I have AT&T Note ii and I have Nexus 4 16GB on the way. But I am buying Nexus 4 just to see how it is and then give it to my dad in India. There are multiple reasons for sticking with Note ii.
1) Removable MicroSD slot
2) Awesome Battery Life and Removable Battery
3) LTE Speeds (I use team viewer a lot to help my family and friends with their PCs and I am youtube junkie. Also s-pen helps a lot with team viewer and gotomypc apps.)
4) Every custom UI has its drawbacks and its positives. I feel like TouchWiz has improved a lottt and it has amazing new features which I use a lot on Note ii, like smart stay, smart rotation, smart alert, direct call, turn over to mute, palm swipe to capture screen shot and many more...
5) S-Pen is just amazing feature. I love to note down things immediately and also taking notes in the meeting. I love playing draw something too. :silly:
6) Big size and screen is negative for someone, but for me, I just love the big screen. It can be cumbersome to use it with one hand sometimes, but rest of the times while watching youtube videos and pictures and browsing, the experience is just stellar.
I have nexus 7 and I gotta tell you, for my own test, stock android doesn't cut it. I have to do many extra things to customize it. Though, it is just my opinion. Plenty of people love the stock android.
I dont know why people keep comparing them, ones a tablet that makes calls and ones a phone
I sold off my Note 2 to get the Nexus 4.
The size of the Note didn't bother me too much, I was still able to carry/bring it everywhere like a regular phone. The problems I had with it mostly laid with Touchwiz. I've only owned Nexus devices, I've had every single one of them (even if I only kept the Gnex for 6 months. **** verizon). I just really didn't like the looks of it, it's not visually appealing at all. Then we get to the s-pen. It certainly is a cool feature, but I'm no artist, I rarely need to edit spreadsheets on a mobile device. So it was mostly going unused for me. Plus the cost, I would rather pay half the price of the Note to have a device thats still quite high end. The $710 pricetag of the Note (with tax) really put a dent in my fun moneys.
My overall experience with the Note just solidified that I'll likely never own a Samsung cell phone, unless they make another Nexus.
I already have

If the note was unlocked I would keep it over the nex 4 any day... The nex 4 seems awesome but a note 2 is an amassing device.. Of I could get an unlocked one for around the same price I would love to get one..
Just curious, how much did you sell the note for and was it unlocked?

Note II to a Nexus 4 would be a huge downgrade.
Problem with touchwiz? Unlock and install vanilla android on it and problem solved.
I could never give up my Note II the screen size is amazing, camera is amazing and there hasn't been any major issues that I have heard. I think the Nexus as amazing as it is isn't quite at the same level as the Note.

Can you actually do that?! If so, please point at the thread!!!
I wouldn't. The quality of Note 2 is significantly better, components used are better, internal design is better and what you get with Nexus 4 is a slightly faster CPU (which is slower after it throttles down) and official vanilla Android. I mean, it's a great phone for its price that I'm considering getting but it's not as good as the Note 2 overall. If you don't care about timely updates to official Android for the next 2 years or so as much as about hardware quality I'd keep the Note 2.
i have both. the nexus 4 is a solid phone but doesnt compare with the note 2. the note 2 is quicker ( regardless of benchmarks), samsung have done a top job with this version of touchwiz & the screen quality seems more vivid plus the additional size makes everything a pleasure:good:
Not really amused by the Nexus 4, I want a Note 2 now.
I have n4 would rather had note II but didnt have note II money. Nexus is fast. Its one the the best phones out and great price.
I don't want a phablet, I was happy to give up using a stylus once capacitive screens came out and there is no way in hell I'd pay $600 for an android device. N4 is an easy choice and if I already had the Note II I'd sell it, buy a N4 and have $300 ready for next year when the N5 comes out.
600 dollars for a big piece of touchwiz plastic. No thank you. N4 is good for me and then some.
Already have..... I took it back after using it for 10 days, got me 2 nexus and $89 back.
I've been using my Nexus for a day already and I don't miss the note.

I've been using Galaxy Nexus for 1 year and liked its size and weight, but didn't like it's battery life and performance, so I bought Note II, but my arms hurt so much because of size and weight Do you think I would better sell Note II and buy Nexus 4?
Totally
If you cant enjoy it than why keep it. Plus since the size of the phone is your problem than yes, Nexus 7 sounds about right.

Gym is the reason why my arm hurts Probably had a small injury and Note II causes it to hurt....
Asking this question here, you just might get everyone saying get an N4!
It really depends on what you want, if the Note 2 is too big then why keep it. The Nexus 4 is really smooth, I haven't had any issues with it at all on stock. I've rooted it but I have never kept anything stock, so I'm trying to keep it this way to get a good feel for it.
I honestly thought about getting the Note 2 as well though too, if I wasn't able to buy a Nexus 4 I was going to get a Note 2.
Take a look at the threads, see how people like it. Personally I haven't had any issues with my phone, I would probably say the camera is better on the Note 2 though from what I've seen online, and the battery life. Remember if you get the N4, it wont have saturated colors like on Samsung phones.

I would certainly get Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 if nexus 10 had 3G module... That's why I took Note II - as a good combine.
Nexus 4 battery life doesn't appeal to me because I use a phone a lot, and I don't see a point in Nexus 10 without mobile internet.... and wifi tethering consumer battery as well.
By the way, I don't understand why people claim Note II as almost a tablet replacement - it is just a huge phone but not a tablet replacement at all, only in the battery terms. The experience is not much better comparing with 4.65 inch but it is even worse because of difficulties with one hand working with it....
Your arms hurt from the size and weight?
You may have bigger problems than a phone choice.
I switched from Note Ns loving the Nexus experience.

Am I crazy for possibly thinking of trading my one month old Galaxy Note 2 for the Nexus 4 ? I have my N2 listed on CL I am will trade plus cash for a new in box N4.
My last three phones have been the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus-S, Nexus-One. When I couldn't buy the Nexus 4, due to bring sold out, I got the annual upgrade itch, and read so many positive reviews on the Note 2, I went for it.
Now four weeks with the N2, having second thoughts, if its a keeper.
Mainly the size, the N2, really is hard to handle one handed most of the time. I am so used to one hand texting, and just using my phones with ease one handed, the N2 is more if a two hander. Or can be used with one hand, but need to balance it just right cradled in your hand, to get your thumb all the way to the other side, or really stretch hard to pull down notification bar.
Buy the battery life is amazing, is super fast smooth phone, and the screen is awesome for YouTube and reading things.
I am running CM10.1, couldn't stand Touchwiz, and actually not using the S-Pen like I thought I would. I just forget its there, just not used to a stylus type device.
But worried about the Nexus 4, battery life, over heating, and other issues I read about.
Opinion ?
Selling my Note 2, I'd almost have enough for both, a new Nexus 4, and used Nexus 7 tablet.

i love the nexus, no touchjiz and open source, dont have to worry about exynos chip, great stability out of the box. the build quality is good, theres alot of issues judging by whats in the thread but how many people post positive experiences, overheating isnt an issue, using francos kernel you can change the threshold.
the battery life is good, i spend 5hours daily reading from the display, glad i didnt get the s3 or note,
it will either be the nexus 4 or a xperia z

i was really gonna get Galaxy S3. My brother got it first, and i got to play with it; installing custom rom. I didnt liked it much. Also, over the past years, I had bad experiences with Samsung and HTC products. Nexus 4 was my best option. I am happy choosing N4 . Love this phone. Battery life is awesome! recently updated to 4.2.2 with no issues. Its very fast!
Nexus is awesome. I'm sure you can sell your note2 easily.
Mytradeins.com could help if you can't sell to anyone...
I think only reason you would want a nexus device is to get the latest software. I think the note 2 is a better phone overall. Screen, sound and battery is bigger and better.

i sold the note 2 for the nexus 4..
i shouldve stuck with the note 2 lol...
youll miss the 2 day battery life on the note
I own both phones... And while I love my Note II, I love my Nexus 4 as well, even though I've never cared for LG phones... There are features on my Note II that the N4 just doesn't provide, and while I still do have the option to flash an AOSP RoM to my Note II, thats where my N4 kicks in... IMHO if I had to only choose one, I'd keep my Note II any day of the week... But if your a purist, the N4 is the way to go...
Sure sounds like I should keep the Note 2 ? Might look back as a mistake later going for the Nexus 4 ? The battery life is amazing on the N2.
What about having both an, Nexus 4 + Nexus 7, vs just the Note 2 ? I could sell the N2, and pretty much have enough for both N4 + N7

Note 2 or Nexus 4 . I would stay with the Note 2. Now if you flip the Note 2 for a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7 then do it. Basically you have a 2 for 1 deal.

Owning htc, samsung, and other devices with manufacture overlays on top of android, I will never buy another non nexus stock android device again. Stock android is the place to be.
Just worried the loss of battery life, between the N2 and N4 ?
But if I can get both the brand new Nexus 4 and money left over for a used Nexus 7, I think that'd be worth it ?

You WILL miss the battery life.
BUT in our lives we are now nearly always near a charger.
and
the screen has been fixed. Now putting my N4 next to my wife's S3, I have to say that whites are now better on N4 (won't vouch for the other colors, it s a matter of taste, and while we are on the subject, you will feel you are missing some colors from AMOLED, but after a week or 2 you ll like the N4 screen too ).
I had a Note 1, and I initially had zero intention on getting an Note 2, until I played with one. Now that I have a Note 2, I really don't think I need the Note 3 . . . . but I haven't had it in my hands yet.
Who's going to upgrade from the 2 to to 3, and if you are, what features are pushing you to do it?
I'm still on the fence. The 1080p screen is really the only thing that's tempting me at the moment.

I'm the same. Have had the Note 2 just about a year now, and kind of feel like I need to upgrade just to get something new. Plus I really like the look of the window flip cover and the leather textured back. I'm probably gonna hold off at least until the Nexus 5 gets announced though, plus there doesn't seem to be a way to get one on AT&T that isn't bootloader locked yet.
I am upgrading for 2 main reasons the full HD screen and for the 32 gig built in memory ( the update to put apps on sd card will be useful as well). I am constantly swapping apps around on my note 2 because we never got the ipdate to move apps to sd. Plus I am a tech junkie.
My Tech Junkie factor will probably be the big reason for me to do it . . . Does anyone know of any stores I can walk into any time soon to get my hands on it and decide if I want to pre-order or not?
Right now I'm playing around with an LG G2 which has similar internal specs compared to the Note 3. Just the performance alone is enough for me to upgrade from my Note 2. I will be returning the G2 by the 4th of October to maximize my $35.00 14 day rental of the phone from Verizon. I will get the Note 3 when it's available. The G2 is a nice phone, but I want the larger screen.
dont know if my 2 cents counts but i traded the note 2 for an s4 and wish i would have kept the note 2 but note 3 all the way now. Bigger better, screen, ram and processor have me sold alone

yeah my s4 has been gone for a few weeks now. glad to get rid of it lol but this bionic im on is just as bad haha and cant wait for the note 3! better be awesome!
Upgrading here from Note 2 .. I have ZERO problems with it.. but Note 3 is just tempting .. upgraded everything even the Weight of the device ..
I cant let go of this habit of changing devices .. or you know what .. Ill call it a hobby and carry on.
The device will be sold in our markets from the 25th.. there is even a countdown timer in the Samsung shop ..
Most likely upgrading because of the screen and the "leather" back, but not immediately when released. I'd rather wait for a month longer for the price to drop quite a bit, and it will drop.

By how much do you think? I'm debating canceling my pre order if it's substantial enough.
I'm upgrading from the note 2 to the note 3 because 1. More space! 2. Faster GPU! 3.faster CPU 4. Better camera 5. More RAM. That is all .
I don't care for the spen. I have never taken mine out from the note 2.
I take alot of pictures so the upgraded camera will be a welcomed addition. I almost brought the Nokia 1020 just for its 46mp camera

Agree on the camera. I would upgrade from my Note 2 on all of the above in fact except for Knox. Not sure I want a locked down device, or to lose my warranty on day one! If you can't flash, what's the point? I'm waiting a while to see how this shakes out...

Another upgrade over here. The N2 has been the best phone I could ask for but more screen is always welcome. And if history repeats N3 will get even better battery life than N2! Had N1 (LTE and int'l) and N2 (i317m) so the N3 int'l will be a real treat.
The S4 is on Craigslist tonight.
5 months ago, i was talking with my wife and said i won't upgrade to note 3 when it is come out..
when i see note 3 now with more feature and more power.. so tempting...
The reasons i probably upgrade:
- screen 1080p
-3GB ram i know i don't need it lol
- more features..
- design a lot better then note 2...
now the only problem is.. i can't decide which one to get.. exynos or snapdragon when i want to get it..
Last, i was expecting bigger battery tho.. maybe 3,600 mAh.. but it is still the same.. so another one that influence my decision is have to wait for review about battery life.
I am upgrading just for the screen. My gf got the s4 and the screen is amazing. I have much better than average near sight but cant see past 30ft for my life, but I can see the pixels on my note 2. No one else i know can see them but all i see is jaggies and boxes. So I am looking forward to the screen,
Some other bonuses is the cpu. After seeing a review of the lg2 and knowing it has very similar performance, i cant wait to get my hands on a device that fast. Also the lg2 has been getting better battery life than the note 2 with only a 3,000mah battery. So there might be a good increase in battery life for the note 3.
And last is the software. It can be done on the note 2 but you know samsung will not add the features to the note 2. I use multiple windows a lot and am looking forward to use more than one app at one. AND THE NOTE 2 CAN DO THIS! I have had 2 of the same apps open before by opening one app then in the other window open a file with the same app and it works no problem, but i would like this to be easier.
I pre-ordered mine and now have to wait 3 weeks
Upgrading from Note 2. More RAM. More cpu poerr. Biegger screen. Better technology.
I have a Note 2 now and can upgrade. Should I get a Note 3 now or wait a few months for the Note 4 or iPhone 6. One thing I don't like about Android now is how the Kitkat updates are killing battery life and all. Especially the issues with Google Play service and indexservice killing battery life. Both of these have happened to people I know. Strongly considering going to iOS.

I would honestly skip the Note 3 for now. The Note 2 isn't much of a downgrade from the Note 3. I'd honestly wait for newer phones or go for the LG G3 or something like that.
I would wait as well. I wish I never tried a Samsung phone. I hate TouchWiz and the antennas are subpar compared to my previous HTC phone and Motorola .

Actually the N2 had awesome signal...just as good as any Motorola. Every other Samsung device GS1, GS3, N3 have had much worse signal sensitivity. That being said I would hold off on the N3. It's a nice phone, but not that much
better then the N2.
As someone who upgraded from the note 2 to the 3 a couple of months ago, I would hold off for the iPhone or note 4 like others are saying.

Just wait for the Note 4...it is worth it...
wait.
im gonna have to disagree with everyone here and say the note 3 is a huge upgrade from the note 2. I had the s3, note 2 then s4 and now note 3 and this is the first phone i have ever had that dosen't feel like it'll be obsolete anytime soon. not only are the specifications still amazing ( i love the 3GB of ram) but the shape and size of the phone is perfect. its so thin and flat and the screen looks way better than the note 2. not just because the resolution is better but it feels like the colors pop more and not as flushed out as the note 2. Its not worth using your upgrade now because the note 4 is around the corner. but I promise the note 3 is better than the iphone 6 (or 8?) will ever be. If you can pick up a used one for cheap its definitely a worthy upgrade from the note 2. development is picking up for our verizon device too specifically the leaked NC2 bootloader which has a possibility of a "kexec" kernel workaround that I have faith beans, hashcode and other developers are working on.
I'm glad I upgraded now. The time that passed with no root for the S5 swayed me to get the Note 3. I'm glad that root was achieved for KK but it wasn't when I made my purchase. I wasn't going to take chances; instead I chose to buy before the retail shelves were stocked with KK. The Note 4 is going to be locked down even tighter.
There are stickies at the top of this section and your Note 2 section to discuss upgrading
Thanks
