XT905 Need help with Recovery and ROM

Australian Telstra RazrM. I am trying to update it to a recent android build. Preferably KitKat. I have tried several recoveries and ROMs. The recoveries flash OK. But I get various errors when trying to flash the ROMs. Cannibal Open touch JBBL and then CWM 6.0.3.2 are the two recoverys I tried. Then the ROM [cm-11-20150203-NIGHTLY-moto_msm8960_jbbl]. But it keeps coming up with errors saying incompatible data on device and so forth. Tried a non jbbl CM ROM but is was incompatible becuase it was xm907.
Not sure where I am going wrong. Could someone please suggest a compatible recovery and ROM combination to get KitKat on my Australian xt905 razr.
You are wiping everything except external sd and then flashing from external, correct? If not give it a try. I'm using xt907 not 905 but it worked for me when my first cm12 nightly got stuck on boot animation
I am being using CarbonROM for quite a while. It is very stable (not rock-solid though).
And I have used different recoveries and all work, I don't think that combination matters.
Just download any of the latest recovery compatiable with your bootloader version and you are good to go.
How do ascertain my bootloader version? I unlocked the factory bootloader using Motorola website unlock tool but have not loaded a differnt one. But I am not sure what version it is.
Currently have CWM 6.0.3.2 as a recovery but my next step (when I get hold of the handset again) is to try flashing "recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-xt907" which is a bit newer. then hopefully it will work.
I think I just wiped all user data. Next time will see if there are other options to wiper everthing bar external SD which I ma loading from. Thnx guys.
EDIT: Flashed "recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-xt907" , Cleared user data and cache and successfully flashed "cm-11-20150203-NIGHTLY-moto_msm8960_jbbl" . Yay!!
Now I just need a suitable Gapps package and all good.

Custom recoveries not reading external SD Card.

Ive tired both Philz recovery and TWRP, I have a G900H with BOAD lollipop. Ive updated to the boad boot loader, and modem. Ive also tried formatting and using different SD cards. what could be wrong? the card is read just fine on the OS.

[Q] VSW Downgraded, rooted, safestrap but now can't get anything to flash.

Hi all,
So - I followed this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-downgrade-lollipop-5-0-to-kitkat-t3088571
I downgraded from Android 5.0
Now it shows Android 4.4.4
Build ANI2
Kernal 3.4.0
Everything went to plan. Towelroot worked, installed and ran supersu, busybox and safestrap 3.75.
I booted into safestrap - backed up my stock slot, created slot1 and tried to restore my backup to slot1. - after a fair amount of time and normal looking prompts it looks like it is finishing and then says - failed.
Boot it to slot1 just to confirm... it times out and boots to android recovery.
Well - deleted slot, created slot, downloaded Eclipse Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver.../rom-eclipse-s5-tw-v1-0-12-8-14-real-t2967151
Flashed to slot 1
boot fails
Backedup sdcard to my pc
formated sdcard
Uninstalled/reinstalled busybox and safestrap
created backup and tried to restore to slot1...
Still fails.
Not sure what I am doing wrong. Seems like I am missing something easy... Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,

No need to restore your stock slot to one of your slots, the slot is safe. Just flash away.
It has been a while since I used a slot (Roms seem to work better on stock slot) but make sure you are creating a large enough slot to accomadate your ROM. Also, make sure you are using the slot compatible safestrap. If you aren't you will need to go into safestrap, uninstall recovery, go into settings, uninstall safestrap. Go into SuperSU, tell it to forget safestrap. Then install the correct safestrap.
Thanks Tulsadiver.
That is the same safestrap that I used but I will double check it.
I know I don't have to restore stock to slot1 but it would sure give me a warm and fuzzy feeling that things were working if that worked. I guess I am a little scared that something isn't right and flashing a rom to my stock slot could leave me without a phone for a bit if things don't go right.
Do I need to be on a newer firmware? Is the standard slot too small to even fit my stock backup? When I flash a rom to the slot - it completes without errors. But backing up my stock to slot1 trips an error just before completing...

SM-N900W8 (Canada) - CWM Recovery Bootloop?

EDIT:
Please delete thread. There is an issue with my SD card resulting in files being corrupted. Massive losses. I was able to successfully install ROM by uploading files to Internal Storage
Hello,
I have been attempting to flash AryaMod : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-aryamod-v1-3-tw-lollipop-5-1-1-t3326976/post67619860#post67619860
on my SM-N900W8. From the stock rom, I rooted it using CF-Auto-Root, then installed TWRP.
After downloading and putting all the necessary files on my SD Card, I attempted to install this but TWRP kept giving me file errors "Error: Secure Check Fail : aboot" when attempting to install anything, the kernel, the rom, the bootloader and modem, etc. Nothing was working.
I read that TWRP isn't very good with Aroma stuff and I should be using CWM, so I attempted to install that. Everytime I installed CWM, it would say it is going into recovery, then restart the phone, over and over..
Figured that I needed to just do a fresh install. I get a new Stock Lollipop 5.0 DOH1 from Kies, reroot with CF-Auto-Root, then install CWM from ROM Manager. Same thing, recovery bootloops.
Is there a way to fix either CWM or to get Aryamod to work with TWRP? Is the CF-Auto-Root breaking the recovery install since it installs through recovery as well?
At this point I've spent an entire day trying to get Aryamod with no luck. What the heck am I doing wrong?

[HELP][trtle]SIM card detected but no service after flashing custom ROM!

I have a SM-N910G with Unofficial LineagOS 18.1 ROM. First things first:
I KNOW XDA forums is not responsible for issues with the device.
I clean installed/flashed the file(TWRP recovery and formatted data folder) given in the thread and only faced the issue after this.
SIM does work in other android devices(Galaxy Tab A with stock firmware, in my case).
Yes, I have correctly inserted the card and tried doing everything on the internet(Removing sim and battery, turning on and off airplane mode, etc.)
My device does have an IMEI number, working WIFI and Bluetooth.
I also tried going back to the stock rom, and the sim card worked. Then, I flashed the correct twrp and backed up the efs partition(in the stock rom) then followed the instruction on the post to flash lineageos and gapps , and then finally restored the efs backup. But, that still didn't work. Pls help.
