Istalling apps on a rooter nook simple touch - Nook Touch General

Hi
I used NookManager to root the device, but I dont know how to install more apps mainly apps like cool reader. aldiko etc., I can see Amazon app store but not Google Play Store - How do I go about this, do I need to first Google Play Store app first from some other source and start downloading other apps via that?
Also, I wanted to have the no refresh to be activated to reduce the screen refresh and flashing. How to do this please.
I also saw this video on YouTube:here. Please advice me as to how to achieve this,
I want pinch zoom to view comics and magazines with heavy layout and images while still maintaining the font resize feature typical to e-reader.
thanks
S

Anyone out there?

If you continue reading that thread I linked to there's instructions on how to get Google apps on the device. I personally use Dropbox for uploading apps to and then download them to the Nook.

[Q] Is there any way to remove old apps from showing in the Play store

So, over the year(s), I have installed, tried, uninstalled, hundreds of android apps on multiple devices.
So I got my new Nexus 7 and wanted to browse through my list of apps in Google Play. Problem is that there are too many listed there. If you scroll through (I guess it's most recent first) it takes dozens of scrolls to get to the end.
And if I find a few things I want down near the end of the list, once you install one, the list goes back to the begginning!
I'd like to be able to remove from the Play Store listing, those 100 or so apps that I know I will never be reinstalling.
Also, the web version of the play store, only shows the first 180 or so, I can't even get to those labled P through Z!
Search yielded little so I turn to you for help.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I'd like to know exactly the same thing. So far not found anything.

I would also be very interested to find out how to do this.

Not at the moment. It does need to be addressed, and one would assume it will be. It's a complete mess.

Permanently removing uninstalled apps
At this time, there is no way to permanently delete or remove apps from the Google Play website (My Orders/My Android Apps) or from the Google Play Store app (My Apps) that you’ve previously downloaded but have since uninstalled.
Too lazy to type lol...that was too easy but u sure knocked it out the park
Browse the play store in landscape so you don't have the list reset every time.
I wish they would at least let you filter your old apps... I'm much more interested in seeing the apps that I actually paid for lol.

Anyone wanting to see paid apps only, you need to install this modified play store APK from Modaco.

Just in case anyone is interested...
I've been a Springpad user for a while, and use the 'spring it' feature from the Play store app to create lists - purchased apps, essential apps, etc. It's really helped with organisation. I just click the saved link from Springpad, and I'm sent straight to the relevant Play store entry.
Yeah, so it's a bit of a dirty fix, but it suits me until Google get the Play store niggles sorted. Guessing it will work with other task/organisation apps, but haven't tried...

[Q] Where does N7 store Google books?

I looked for a purchased book but didnt find it. I mainly want to make sure I have it backed up with Titanium Backup before I start trying ROM's.
edit: I want to back up the purchased book, not the Books app.
I would imagine its connected to your Google account. Wouldnt make much sense having to back it up.

This.
Don't back any Google apps up, when you install a new rom/factory reset most of the gapps will be pre installed anyway. Everything is saved in the cloud: P

Thanks, The first thing that came to mind was there might be a limit to the amout of downloads like with music and the 3 download limit.
This brings up the question that I was not trying to backup the actual Books app but the books I purchased.
/sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.books
They should be located there.

Google maintains a record of everything you buy/download. So long as the Google account remains active, so does that record. That's why it is always better to reinstall an app from the Play Store rather than restore it from TiBU and only use restore for the actual data (don't want to lose your Angry Birds progress). In the case of movies, books and magazines, you can always access those directly via the Play Store. That way you can still get to them even after getting a new device (or flashing a new ROM) and re-initializing your existing Google account.

[Q] Add .PDF to Google Playbooks

Hello guys, I have a Nexus 7 with several books downloaded from Google Play. However, a friend just sent me a .rar with about 200 books and I want to add them to Google Play Book.
I've been trying to look for the folder where the downloaded books are but couldn't find it; as you probably know there is no option to manually add books within the application...so I have 2 choices, either force the .pdf into the app or read them with another app, but I really like PlayBook and as I already have quite a library there, I want to use it for the new books that my friend sent me.
Is there any way to do this?
In case there is no way: How can I export my PlayBook books so I can add them to another app and have everything in one place?
Easiest way is just to download a PDF reader from Google Play.

That's exactly what I want to avoid, I'm some kind of organization freak and I like to have everything in one place and enjoy the features of the app with everything that can be done with it...so I would REALLY prefer to find a way to add the .pdf books to the Google Play Book app
Not possible

[Q] running YouTube in the background

hi everyone. my apologies for asking a question I'm sure has been asked many times before. I want to run my browser or YouTube app whilst doing other things. as an example, I would like to play a song from Firefox on YouTube whilst sketching on Sketchbook pro. all the info I've read around this problem doesn't really solve the problem. I tried downloading the maxathon browser which works as long as I am still in said browser. is there any way of using my tablet in a similar way to a PC or Mac or is this the price we have to pay? thanks in advance
jg
Download PVStar+ from play store, it works great for background listening

Why there's so few app in Play store ?

Hi,
I don't understand why only few app are available in Play store ? Is it only a problem of non-touch device ?
For an app like Connectbot (as JuiceSSH), touch device is not required I think, so why is it not present in play store ?
Thanks.
Being a non touch device is part of it. Also some games and apps are also exclusive to certain android tvs.
Many apps including paid (provided your play account has the app license) apps can be sideloaded if you extract the apk from another Android device. Sideloaded touch apps usually need a mouse. I prefer using a Logitech k400r for sideloaded apps.
Also devs need to specifically mark the app is compatible with the forge in the play store. Another issue is the on device app browsing and search of the play store is pretty weak. You may have better luck searching and installing via a desktop browser

Thanks you for this details. I will try some apks (and search in browser, but it's in my browser I saw incompatibility for SSH apps).
I've a probably stupid question but... how can you use a k400r to emulate touch ? Using a touchpad is like always putting your finger on screen :/

The device registers a touch only when you click on the touchpad/mouse.
Yeah I would love for then to step up the apps. Firetv is Android but they have more apps available
