[Q] Cannot use phone and Cannot Odin. - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys!
Sorry to be a pain in the backside with this one but I tried to use autoroot to root the Galaxy Note 3 and it all started going wrong..
Basically, when I boot into download mode, I get this:
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SM-N9005
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom
Reactivation Lock: ON
Knox Kernel Lock: 0x0
Knox Warranty Void: 0x1
Qualcomm secureboot: None
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P0
Write Protection: Enable
Now, because Reactivation lock is "ON" I cannot use odin to reflash anything..
When I boot my phone, I cannot turn the lock off as I get bombarded with "Unfortunately, Samsung keyboard has stopped" and "Unfortunately, Direct pen input has stopped" and sometimes ""Process System isn't responding, DO you want to close it?".
EVEN if I manage to get past these errors etc etc, to turn off the lock, I need to input my password, which I cannot do as the keyboard is not working properly.
I CAN boot into CWM recovery, but so far, flashing other roms hasn't worked... so now I'm stuck. I'd love some help with this somehow :/
tl;dr
Cannot use Odin as reactivation lock is on.
Cannot turn reactivation lock off as samsung keyboard doesn't respond.
Can boot into recovery.
Thanks guys.

Is there any way for me to CWM install swiftkey?
When I tried to use different roms I got stuck trying to "set up the phone"
WHen I try to skip everything (so that I didnt have to use the keyboard) I got to a thing saying that the phone experienced an unexpected factory reset or something, and to log in to my samsung account to continue... Problem being, that requires the keyboard :/
Thanks for the help so far!

Dude, SO many thanks! If I could hit the "Thanks" button more than once I would. You've helped so much, even if what you did wasn't exactly the fix, having you there for support stopped me from freaking out and for that I thank you.
For anyone else who has this issue or similar, Go to sammobile, get your stock firmware from there and install it with ODIN. It may still say that the whole Lock thing is on, but it worked for me anyway - Brilliantly.
Thank you again so very much, you don't know how relieved I am

And please take note - TURN OFF THE REACTIVATION LOCK before flashing....

I don't know what was happening before but I kept turning it off then whenever I restarted it would go on again :/
I am going to make certain I never even turn it on in the first place in the future
Now Im stuck with the stock O2 boot image - that can be changed right?

Yeah just flash a rom that will go

I'm having the exact same problem where the phone is completely unusable after booting up from a clean odin flash. It's the right stock firmware and I've done several factore resets/wipes of every partition. Nothing is fixing this problem. What reactivation lock are you guys talking about? How can you disable it before flashing if you can't even boot into the phone?

[Q] Soft brick? Hard brick? Sort of firm'ish brick really

I've made a bit of a mess and I need help please. My s4 is softbricked, but as softbricks go, it's rather hard.
I have an early S4 i9505 bought from Carphone Warehouse (UK, unlocked, pre knox). I rooted it, installed TBackup, greenify and got it how I wanted it. Then I downloaded a stock firmware from Sammobile and tested to see if I could get it back to 'warranty' condition, which was a success.
Confident that I could obtain warranty if I needed it, I re-rooted it, installed TB and greenify, and it ran sweetly for months from that point onwards.
I read about the arrival of updates (and knox) and concluded I didn't need them. It was working, leave it alone.
Then out of the blue, my nice stable machine broke. I didn't change anything I was aware of to cause it.
No normal boot.
No recovery.
Download only.
Using Odin, I tried allsorts, eventually getting the same Sammobile firmware to run.
2 days later, it broke again, same as before, but worse!?
Then I tried all sorts of stuff downloading no end of things trying to get it to boot or even go into recovery. The most promising approach was to reload the firmware along with a .pit file, but still no joy. I've lost track of the other things I tried, but I've been doing it for a week, so a lot has been done. In desperation, I even tried downloading the latest firmware, so I now have signs of knox of the odin page.
I now have the following symptoms:
Booting into recovery brings up the blue 'booting recovery' message then just blackness.
Normal boot is exactly the same as above.
Unpowered conection to my laptop gives a 5 second boot loop featuring the buzz only.
I can reliably boot into download and download stuff with Odin and change the little Odin page status messages. After (foolishly) trying the latest firmware, these messages say
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME GT-I9505
CURRENT BINARY Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS Official
KNOX KERNEL LOCK 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID 0x0
CSB-CONFIG-LSB 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: enable
eMMC BURST MODE enabled
Please can anyone give me some advice on what else I could try?
Thanks

If anything else is not working (especially, if you're unable to go to recovery) I'd call sammy service center. Your download mode says that you did not rooted your phone, and knox is untouched either.

Thanks for looking spamtrash.
I was wondering if I could get away with that. It does look good from the Odin display, but the flash counter must have a pretty high number in it by now! Won't that show up somewhere?
Do you think it does actually have a fault on it, rather than just some software that's messed up and needs tweaking?
Thanks

1. Are you able to go to recovery mode?
2. Assuming that your previous communicates were taken from the screen in download mode - you're clean.
If answer for 1 is: NO, and assuming 2: do not bother the flash counter. Flash counter does not means you messed with custom ROMs, it just means amount of the ROM update tries. As they are unable to prove that the counter was not increased by failed KIES updates, you're safe.
To go deeper, service will have to flash and wipe your phone.
One thing: remove your sd card prior to giving/sending it out.
Try a different usb cable.I was in same boat as you (after stupidly thinking mobile odin pro liked modems).
Luckily I had an unused cable off my tab 3.

[Q] Locked Out of Phone by PIN! + VPN Setting Errors

First off, this started with a possible error which I will describe incase anyone else encounters this problem with the SM-G9006v by China Unicom
I added my VPN and of course set up a PIN number. I didn't actually use the VPN for a few days, but when I went back to check on it the VPN had disappeared. I attempted to add a new VPN and it appeared in the box area for about a second and then also disappeared. I think it was at this point that I saw my first "Settings has encountered an error" message. The settings window sort of flashed and reloaded. I then went to the Lock Screen area and attempted to remove the PIN number, but was unsuccessful as the other less secure options were greyed out. At this point I pressed setup Password. The password screen came up and I started to enter my information when I received another Settings Error.
So, I am currently faced with a PIN lock screen that does not respond to my original PIN. My phone did not have USB Debugging Set and Reboot Lock is enabled, so I cannot enter recovery to factory reset my phone.
Solved By: Flashing a new Recovery via Odin, Please Note: You might need to use VolUp+Home+Power Button rather than VolDown+Home+Power Button

I have no idea how to solve this problem, I have tried:
Millions of pins
Flashing a new Recovery via Odin (Passes, but nothing loads)
Using Flashboot & ADB (device not found)

Yeah, I can't figure out how to get into that recovery mode. It freezes after:
Knox Warranty Void: 0x0
Qualcomm secureboot: enable (CSB)
AP Swrev: s1, t1, a1, p1
UDC START
If anyone has any suggestions...?
I got locked out on my Note 3 from a kernel/rom issue. Only way I could fix was flash stock Via Odin.. Seems like that's the method you'll have to take also.
I was able to solve my problem by flashing CWM via Odin. I thought it hadn't worked because I was using VolDown+Home+Power.
It worked when I used: VolUp+Home+Power

Could you link what CWM you used? I can't get my phone to recognize by Odin... or perhaps link how you did it. I would like to drop a custom rom or at least have a recovery that can flash gapps (default recovery fails to flash them for me)

You might want to look at this post on a chinese forum http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
It worked for me, but tripped Knox.
One extra step, not sure if it was necessary, but I installed 豌豆荚 pinyin: wandoujia on my computer, then hooked my phone in. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it helped install the drivers, which might be the only problem.
As far as getting gapps, I'm still working on that too. I put in a few apks to my phone, but gmail and play store are still broken....

Much appreciated! I don't speak Chinese and those around me that do aren't technically inclined. I don't even need a custom ROM if i can get gapps working.
I used a site to download apk's off google play store (website version) and it worked ok. Doesn't work for paid apps, but at least i was able to get google's translate / etc installed. Google translate wouldn't let me load off-line languages though sadly.
When I attempt Odin to flash a recovery or any other file, it won't reboot the phone, then in the stock recovery, odin doesn't see the phone, been a touch of a roadblock. I'll be sure to look into those links.

My recovery ended up being Vol++Home+Power and download mode being Vol-+Home+Power. You might wanna just check that to make sure recovery isn't hiding there.

[Q] SM-N910U stuck in update loot after system update

Hi,
Have a Note 4 that's had a pending 33mb Update (about phone > system updates) for a while and decided to finally get it.. something about encryption.
Downloaded fine, but not it just stays saying "installing system update..." whenever I turn the phone one and flickers black every 10 or so seconds.
The device is/was rooted and running SuperSU.
I can only turn it off by pulling the battery, power+home+volup does nothing, voldown does the Custom OS warning screen and then the "Downloading.. do not turn off target!" screen with the below information:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910U
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): OFF
SECURE DOWNLOAD : ENABLED
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1

I think the best to do is a fresh clean install. Download your firmware at Sammobile and flash it with Odin
i guess i'm not the only one encountering this.
gonna try reflashing the os via odin, as there is no alternative found as of now...
which kinda brings the question.
After re-flashing the os, i would assume that i have to do the rooting method back, right?
Thanks, I'll download the rom from there. I take it it's going to lose all the installed apps?

Yes
well, this is interesting.... reflashing via odin certainly works.
i was expecting a fresh restart, but it seems flashing from odin to restore the os, still has my apps (though some do not work.. mostly rooted ones)
since i've already gone and did a fresh restart, might as well load a new custom rom.

Hey, exact same situation. Installed the rom from that website (1.5gb!) and then cf auto root and then it turned on with the optimizing apps screen, like nothing had changed. Apps, settings, layout, everything exactly as it was.
Perfect

How do I know which firmware to download, there are quite a few to choose from?
I have a n910u and im in Canada, currently I have the N910UXXU1ANJ5 baseband

I think I have soft bricked my phone after twrp upgrade.

So i have been using Hybrid-X 3.0 rom for like 1.5 years and today my phone started boot looping would come up for 2 mins then reboot. Nothing i did helped, tried dalvik and cache clearing.
So I decided to try and just backup my files using twrp since i could boot into that just fine without it restarting on its own.
I ran into some issues where i couldn't copy files off my phone... it would just paste 0kb folders with no contents inside.
So then I thought it might be some version issue so I tried to update twrp to the latest I was on 2.8.7.0 and tried to go to 3.0.2.0.
After it installed i am worse off. It wont go into recovery at all!
So here I am now.
I can only get into download mode. Device shows up in odin but anytime I tried to do something it just gives me either
Fail! (Auth) error
In download mode i get this at the top:
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-910P
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
REACTIVATION LOCK : OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (2)
QUALCOMMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)

Try doing a full wipe, then using Odin to go back to a completely stock firmware from sammobile.com. If that seems to stick with no reboots, you'll have to use Odin again to apply cf-auto-root and then twrp. If you stil get reboots with stock, you may have a hardware problem with the phone.
Ending up doing a rewrite like you stated above back to OK1 version. Then installed the MOAR UN5 Hybrid.
All is well now except I am getting that activation not complete internal error 106.
I can still make and receive calls and txts. Any ideas? Or should I call sprint and tell them i just did a factory wipe?

Yeah I did a quick Google and it looks like "internal error 106" has to do with provisioning by Sprint. I think you should call them. See these:

Thanks for the input.
Called sprint. They tried the ## service codes and it didnt work... it actually broke my calling and data which i had before they had me do that. They basically said i have to factory reset again...
So anyone else have any ideas? I really dont want to have to reinstall the rom again from scratch...
Ended up doing the whole Moar rom install again and seems to be good.

any advice greatly appreciated

Hi there, I have a problem with my phone and I was ponited in the direction of this forum to see if anyone would be able to help out. Any assistance woud be very greatly appreciated
I am based in UK and I recently bought myself a Galaxy Note 4. 2nd Hand but as new condition. I tried to do an over the air software update to see if the phone would be able to get a more recent version of Android (it was running 5.0.1) and the phone wouldn't connect to the server. Also whe I tried to connect to Android Pay I got an error saying the device was rooted so I couldn't use the app on this phone. I therefore wanted to unroot the phone
I must stress my real technical knowledge of Android phones is basically at novice level but I tried to unroot the phone using SuperSU which I downloaded from the app store. I ran the unroot option and restarted the phone as prompted but this resulted in my phone being stuck in Bootloop. It wouldn't go past the Samsung load screen
I probably did the worst thing which was panic, went into recovery mode and attempted to factory reset to return the phone to out of box settings. I wiped the cache and did the factory reset but, of course, this hasn't resolved the problem. I then done a bit more reading and downloaded Odin and attempted to find the stock firmware for my phone (Model SM-910F), which i did, but unfortunately when I tried to flash this firmware back to my phone through Odin I get a failed error
So basically i'm on my knees trying to get some technical advice as to what else i can try or how to proceed. I did try taking it back to the Samsung Store and plead ignorance for help but the best I got there was that my main board would need replacing which would probably set me back another 200 nicker. For that money I may as well just buy a new phone. any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm currently left with a very expensive paperweight
Many thanks in advance guys

Go to odin download mode and tell me what exactly your model shows there? Maybe I can help.
Press 3 button combo while phone is turned off to go into download mode.(volume down+home+power)
Or even better if you can take picture and upload it while your phone in download mode.

Hello there.
Sorry to say but you dont have N910f international model.its refurbished and faked by n910F software.as you can see your download mode shows n910t that's the orignal motherboard model.and also it shows binaries and status custom and not official as it should.also knox is 0×1 it means it was rooted before and warranty was void.
You have sm-N910T that's T-mobile usa model.
You can download latest N910T firmware from www.sammobiles.com/firmwares and flash through odin.
Dont try to flash n910f firmware otherwise it can be bricked and unusable.
Hope this will help.

You're welcome.
Make sure after flash firmware go to recovery by pressing (volume up+ home+ power ) while phone is off and do (data factory reset & wipe cache)otherwise it will stuck on Samsung logo at first boot.
First boot will take approximately 15 minutes.
