[Q] Computer and Phone Unrecognizable SD - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed the stock Android 4.3 Finaly 2.0 with Ausdim's new kernel for 4.3 (v10).
For some reason, the external SD isn't recognizable while the phone is booted up, but I can view it in TWRP recovery.
The SD is working, I put it into another phone and it reads the files fine, but when I plug the S4 into my computer, it installs the drivers, and the S4 charges, but I can't view any files.
Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?
Thanks!:good:

I have installed a nightly update for Cyanogen 7 and since then the phone is stuck on the Cyanogen logo.
I can get into recovery but since I don't have any firmware files on my SD I can't reinstall the ROM. I just need a way to put the files on my internal SD.
I have tries ADB which didn't detect my phone. I have installed the driver (The phone is found as the Nexus S for some reason) .
I also couldn't get into download mode although I don't have the hardware lock as I can get into recovery.
What can I do in this situation? I am already thinking of opening the phone, swapping out the internal SD and transferring the files through the computer. I would like to know if there's any other way.
Thank you!

Plug phone into computer and boot in recovery. If still not recognized by adb go to advanced and select reboot recovery. This should get you adb. ADB push "namehere".zip sdcard.
If still having problems Odin back to stock and start over. To get to download mode make sure phone is off, battery pull if necessary. Plug USB to phone press volume up and down and hold and plug USB into computer.

Awesome! Thanks to you I have managed to get into download mode now.
All the guides that I found says I should use the power button. You said only up and down while connecting. That worked.
I am very grateful.

[Q] Galaxy S i9000 USB Port Busted..Need help upgrading the firmware

Hi xda developers,
Recently i am not able to connect my Galaxy S using USB to any of my PC / Laptop. When i connect it all of my PCs says unrecognized USB device. Also odin (1.3 / 1.8) doesn't detects my phone in download mode at all. I am using Android 2.3.3 with rooted kernel and i have CWM installed. I reformatted my PC and installed new version of Kies still no luck. Is there any way i can upgrade to stock 2.3.4 firmware using CWM update.zip function. I can transfer update.zip from my PC to external SD card and then copying the update.zip to internal sd card using file manager inside the phone. The problem is i am not able to find stock ROM in update.zip format to use with CWM.
Any help is appreciated.
BTW my phones still charges fine using mini usb port and phone charger but is not detected as usb device in Windows 7. I also tried Kies / Media Player mode but no luck there. I am not sure its a software or hardware issue. Also my phone is out of warranty.

It strikes me that it might be another issue.
Have you:
Checked the cable
Tried another cable
Checked the drivers
Reinstalled drivers
Definitely faulty MICROUSB cable!!!
Tried Four different cables
I have already tried four different cable but no luck so far.
when its rooted and u have CWM why don't u transfer 2.3.4 firmware as .zip( I think I have seen it here somewhere) via WLAN to ur device and flash via CWM?
i had same problem with a cable, btw when changed the cable to original it's working again.
when i flashing new rom with the old cable results fault, so it's my luck my phone is not bricked

Need help please! Phone won't connect to PC

Okay so last night I flashed the BNG3 firmware for T-Mobile via Odin and everything went fine. After a while my phone started having force closes saying "log reporting has stopped working" and wouldn't let me do anything. So I rooted with Philz touch recovery and flashed the latest XtreStolite ROM but I noticed that my internal memory was formatted so I decided to plug my phone into my computer so I can restore my backup. Won't show up in my computer and kies says that my computer does not have the software required to recognize my device. When in recovery I can mount my actual SD card but not my internal memory. When I decided to flash the latest cm 11 rom, both of them showed up in my computer but I couldn't see any of the folders but I can see the amount of memory left. The only file I can see is a blank file that's labeled as AVG file and that's it. I'm thinking that when I used Odin it formatted my internal memory to a specific format that my computer is not recognizing. I have tried reformating, different cables and different computers and nothing works! Can anyone help please?? :/

System files transferred to Sd Card now phone won't turn on or connect to PC via USB

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy J5. Tried to swap my internal storage to my Sd Card. I transferred all of my files (including my system files) to the Sd Card and then restarted the phone.
Now the phone will not boot up (not turn on at all) and the phone will not connect to the pc via USB.
How can I fix this problem? I am running the 5.1.1 OS
The phone will not boot while holding the power button for 20-30 sec., it will not boot either mode while holding the (vol+/pwr/home) or (vol-/pwr/home).
The phone will not sync to the computer while in the Device Manager mode on my PC so I am not able to restore the galaxy from a recovery .exe
Thanks in advance.

Z17 Lite won't boot after v1.05 ROM update

Hello,
After rooting the system I tried to upgrade the stock firmware.
I probably did something wrong because now the device won't boot.
At startup it shows the "Nubia... Powered by android" screen and does not continue with the boot process.
I still have access to TWRP so I tried to wipe everything and to install the ROM from TWRP.
It looks as if the ROM is installed correctly, but it requires reboot and after reboot the same "Nubia... Powered by android" screen comes up.
I also tried the emergency recovery but that installs only from external sd card (that the Z17 lite does not have), or from OTG device. I connected a USB thumb drive with OTG cable but it doesn't recognize it
At this point I have no idea what else to do.
I'd be happy for any assistance.
TIA

UPDATE: I tried different USB drives. One of them mounted. I found that this one was formatted in FAT. Since this is a small 2Gb drive that cannot hold the ROM, I found another drive that was formatted in ExFAT that also loaded correctly.
I loaded the ROM as suggested and now the phone is working again.
My guess is that the phone can't read NTFS file format in emergency recovery mode.
