What have i done!

Ive got a Samsung Galaxy S unlocked on 3 Network using Gingerbread 2.3.3. What ive done is i tried to gain access to the SuperUser account using the CF-Root method. All went well until i wanted to see if i could remove the SuperUser account because when it comes to Christmas i am wanting to sell the phone to a Friend. When i used GingerBreak 1.2 to UnRoot the Phone the SuperUser app uninstalled it self but the CWM and Tweaks app was still on the Phone. I attempted to remove the Apps going through Settings > Applications > Manage Applications but then i noticed it was locked into the phone unable to delete (FACEPALM). So i tried to Re-Root the phone using the CF-Root method again but it didnt give me back SuperUser access nor did it install the SuperUser app but the Odin Application claimed that it was successfully installed.
So what i am wanting to do is remove them two applications from my phone (CWM and Tweaks).
The Plan was to Root the phone and then install Darkys Rom since it looks Cool and Green But since ive never done anything like Rooting the phone or Jailbreaking an Ipod i really didnt have a clue what i was doing. Youtube help me to root it but then i messed it up.
Hope someone will know how to fix this phone and maybe get back on track on installing Darkys Rom

the tweaks and cwm apps are baked into the kernel.
If you want to get rid of them you'll have to flash a stock kernel

Well flashing the stock firmware is actually quite easy but there's loads of them out there depending on what country you're in and network. If you're in the UK I'd go for I9000XXJVQ which I think is still the latest, I'm using it anyway.
Sign yourself up at http://www.samfirmware.com and you can go in to the firmware section, then in to android and then the I9000 and there's a whole list of them there.
They've also got guides in there to follow on how to use Odin which is the flashing software, oh and bit of advice I'd go for Odin V1.3 if I were you. I've heard a few rumors about problems with V1.8. I alway use 1.3
Good news is its actually quite difficult to really kill a galaxy S so take it nice and easy and follow the instructions and you'll be fine. Anyway the best way to learn is fixing it after its gone wrong he he.

Sorry I wasn't very clear there.
The latest stock firmware in the UK according to Kies on my phone was JVQ.
I took it right back to the original JM1 it came with and that's as far as it went for me.

i am amused how do you try to help not knowing what is going on, thank god noone said put the phone to fridge for 5 minutes
to regain su flash cfroot for example and then via cwm this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14900939&postcount=311
but cfroot untouched itdelf should give you su as long as you will not try to update it via market - if you will lose su after that or due flashing some newb kernels use above link to regain it

[Q] restoring stock recovery, rom, wiping root

Heya,
I need to returns my phone to as-purchased-state, which means if I am not missing anything - unroot, stock rom, stock recovery
I have rooted the phone, installed custom ROM (cloudy) and TWRP.
On my previous phone, samsung s2, the download mode had a flash counter that indicated how many times I flashed a rom.
On my LG G2, the download mode just says "rooted".
1) So where do I get a stock rom from?
2) Where do I get stock recovery?
3) How do I wipe any evidence of root?
4) In what order do I need to do everything?
I did google and came up with some of these answers, but I put my trust in XDA and hoping I won't f*ck my phone up by doing something in the wrong order.

You may want to remove the part where you are admitting to warranty fraud.

Use the kdz method to return to stock. Its in the dev forum. You need the drivers for your phone, the kdz firmware, lgflash tool. All can be found in the dev section.

Trying to [Root] Note 3, not sure what method to use.

I REALLY want to root my phone to help test out the beta of f.lux. You can look it up if you want, should take you a a peachy orange page. Anyway, I really want that on my phone, and it needs root, and I've NEVER rooted a phone before, and I'm not sure what I'm doing.
I want to follow [this guide](http://www.phonearena.com/news/How-to-Root-the-Verizon-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3_id48247) PhoneArena link, but it doesn't say what android version it needs, and that worries me.
One more thing, I downloaded a file called "fastboot" and it has something to do with ADB that disables certain apps so that I'm not nagged to update. I'm on 4.4.4, and I can't find that file, I think it's in the root of C:\ but I ran them and it didn't work. So if I could reenable those apps to get on lollipop or marshmallow, if rooting would be easier, I'd do that. I've searched the forum, but I need baby steps.

If you're just looking to try out f.lux you could give Cf.lumen a try first. It has a non-root mode.
If you want to root you can just flash a custom recovery like TWRP with Odin.

You say, just flash, as if there is no risk. I want to get it right, no bricking. I'm on 900V (V for verizon), and I want a quick safe way to root. Also, thank you for mentioning Cf.lumen, I do have it, and the nonroot looks like ****, yes it works, but it's not remotely the same.

I recommend visiting TWRP's website and pick out the latest version for your device and then flash the latest non-beta version of SuperSU which you can find here on XDA. Flash TWRP with Odin and then boot into recovery and simply reboot, it will then ask you if you'd like to root your device.

What model do you have? Find your model first then download TWRP recovery. Use odin to flash the recovery, then flash super su.

If I use this option, and should I "brick" my phone, could I flash the TWRP in odin, and figure out how to restore the backup, and unbrick the phone if I screw up the root process? Because that would be ****ing amazing, and I'd root IMMEDIATELY if that's the case, because, no worries -- I'd always have a backup! I love backups.

You need Root for TWRP to backup .
Suggest you read the stickeid FAQS and guides .

First things first, EXACTLY what Note 3 model do you have? Go to Settings -> About -> Device model. If it is SM-N9005, that would be quite surprising, because we didn't get a 4.4.4 build.
American Note 3s got a 4.4.4 build, N900A, N900V (AT&T Note 3 and Verizon Note 3 respecitevly), and the methods for rooting THEM has nothing in common with the way a N9005 or N900 is rooted.

900V. Verizon, 4.4.****ing4. I had .3 but it kept nagging me to update like trial software and that was probably the end of my chances as I recall I most likely have a locked bootloader so I may not be able to do any of this.
Why can't I make a full backup on stock android anyway, seems like the responsible thing to do.

Verizon then use the verizon forum anything from here is wrong and may brick your phone .
Full backup requires a modified recovery therefore no longer stock .

Ah so it's the stock recovery that is used. So why do you think that lacks options for a full backup?
When you say use Verizon forums is that a section here or a dedicated Verizon forum?

New SM-G900F, update? Questions

Hi Guys,
I received my unlocked 900F today, and have been prepping to do some work on it. Already downloaded Odin, USB drivers, etc, getting ready to backup, flash CWM Recovery. All looks pretty straight forward. A couple things I'm not sure about though...
Much to my surprise, its already rooted with Kingroot present on the system. Cant say I'm real fond of it, is it wise to replace it with a 'normal' SU setup? Any caveats?
Second thing, is that the system is saying there is an update available. Is this wise, or do I risk messing up root, or anything else?

If your rooted updates won't install. Not sure what you want as an end result but if you want the latest Samsung official update then you will need to either use one of the latest debloated ROMs here in XDA development under S5 or download from Sam Mobile and use Odin to install. But personally I recommend either xXx or _Axelandr ROMs which are latest stock with root and other support. King root isn't the way to go because it doesn't use official super su. Also king root uses spyware... Not a great option. Also BACKUP YOUR EFS FOLDER NOW! DO IT! you'll only cry later when things go wrong. What model phone and firmware are you running now?!

Yeah, that was my concern. I didnt want to install the Samsung update if it will cause me root issues down the road. So best to NOT install it then?
I was surprised Kingroot came with the phone, what reading I did on it indicates its sketchy at best. Going to toss that quickly then.
At this point, my plan of attack is:
1. Flash CWM recovery.
2. Backup as it is now.
3. Backup EFS.
4. Remove Kingroot, install normal SU.
I'll start looking into other ROM's afterwards, when I have more time.
The phone is a SM-G900F, Build # LRX21T.G900FZHU1BOA1. Not sure if thats the firmware #, or something else. Nothing else jumps out at me.

HTC M9+ Supreme Camera: htc__622: is it safe to be rooted?

Hi all,
I've been out of the android world for a while and i got back to this attractive world with an HTC M9+ supreme camera. and a chinese tablet with MediaTeck chip in them.
i tested to unlock bootloader on the tablet using the fastboot command oem unlock but i ruined it and it is now totally dead not even turning on.
my question, is it safe to root my phone? what is the difference in rooting and unlocking bootloader between MediaTeck and Qualcomm chips as i used to develop for qualcomm and it was fairly easy to unlock and root such devices?
what do you advice me to do to remove all Chinese apps and bloatware from this phone if rooting is not going to work and if i root-only my phone without unlocking bootloader just to remove the bloatware apps can i still receive htc OTA for marshmallow and install it?
sorry for my long questions but i really need those info to get back to android ROMing and being more active toward our community.

Yes it is safe to root. I rooted my HTC One M9 Plus Supreme Camera yesterday with no problems.
You have to "Unlock" the bootloader first. It will restore your phone back to factory so make sure you have all of your pics and files backed up.
Rooting is gaining root level permissions to make changes to system files. There are several videos on youtube that show how to do it. I watched the one by sakitech for the M9. Good step by step directions. You will need TWRP 2.8.7.0 for the M9+ and the latest SuperSU.
As far as the Chinese apps, I just deleted them. Go the the app drawer, tap and hold on the app, and drag it up to where it says "uninstall". You don't have to be rooted for that.

I could not find stock recovery. I like android 5 better than 6 so I decided that it didn't matter to me. I don't plan to unroot my phone.
I flashed TWRP and used it to make a stock unrooted backup. Then I used TWRP to flash SuperSU. Booted up the phone to the Home screen. Rebooted to TWRP and flashed the sd card write fix from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...ipop-external-sd-card-write-fix-fob6-t3051562
TWRP has issues flashing from the external sd card, so put SuperSU and any other files you are going to flash on the internal storage.
So to answer your question, yes it's safe to root, but for this device, it might not be possible to unroot until someone can find a stock recovery.
