Backup sound profile under General section in SB - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I am currently SB jb 4.2.2 but wanted to migrate to SB jb 4.3. Does any one know a way how to backup the sound profiles like default/home/night there in settings>>General>>Profile & than restore it back?

If you have Titanium Backup, I'm pretty sure that backing up Settings Storage and Settings, from the system apps, will backup those profiles. I use it to backup/restore my settings, and it restores everything, from the Quick Tiles Settings to my sound/display settings, and even Developer Options, so I don't see why it wouldn't restore the sound profiles.
I'd just be careful when restoring settings that are from a different ROM, if anything changes between ROMs regarding the system part, you might ruin things, so have a backup handy. I never restore settings when coming from a different ROM, but considering you're only migrating from 4.2.2 to 4.3 on SB, it might work.

Restoring data while changing rom

hi to everyone i m kinda new to these things but i have a question and maybe is stupid:
when passing to one rom to another is possibile to restore backupped data like sms/apps etc.. ?
thank you to anyone who is willing to help
Hopefully you're using ROM Manager and Clockwork Recovery to change ROMs, etc.
If so, in there, you can back up a ROM before applying a new one.
If you restore your previous backup, your apps, homescreens, settings, should also be restored.

yes i use those apps but for example if i load cyanogen and try to load a backup with rom manager all i get is that my phone get rolled back with old rom, my point is to have the new rom but with the old data
Personaly i use "MyBackup" to backup system settings, apps, call log, bookmarks, alarms, dictionary, calendar etc., and "SMS Backup & Restore" for messages (it does MUCH better this job then "MyBackup"). Both apps are for free on the Market.

ROM Testers: Which settings do you backup w/ Titanium??

(I also posted this on the Titanium users forum, but there is a lot more traffic here, so I hope to get better results here)
Like a lot of people here, I test a lot of ROMs on my phone. Probably every week I go through at least one new ROM. A lot of people suggest NOT backing up system settings when installing new ROMs, because the settings on a current ROM may not make sense on the newly installed ROM. But many of the settings *should* be safe to backup, in my opinion. For instance, each time I install a new ROM, I spend quite a while resetting my SMS, gmail, ringtones, and other notifications. I would think those would be safe to backup. My questions: Which setting in Titanium should be safe to backup and restore when installing a new ROM? Specifically, which items in the titanium system settings refer to the notification sounds and ringtones? There are so many of them and some of them are quite cryptically named, I don't know which ones are the ones.
Thanks in advance!

OK, I know there are Titanium users in here. We've all heard not to use it to restore system settings when testing new ROMs. I have searched and my question has not been answered as far as I could tell (can't prove a negative). So, how about a little love, please
Bluetooth pairings, wireless access points, sms/mms, and web bookmarks and I think that's it.

[Q] What do i have to backup before changing rom?

Applications backup but not cache or data?
System backups?
Sms and call logs?
And system backups?
Are those all to do? If i backup those, when i restore, will i be able to have my desktop widgets, desktop icons sorted correctly ?
I think the best answer is "it depends on what you want to restore to".
When I change roms, I make a full backup using CWM, that way, no matter what the new rom breaks, I can go back to exactly where I was before.
But if you really want the new rom and think the problem is in one app or setting, you can backup only the apps .apk, the apps data and the rom settings, then you can restore everything individually and see where the problem is.
This all assuming you are not changing major android versions (like from froyo to gingerbread) or not changing roms "types" (like from stock to CM or to miui). If you are, then the partial backup is not recommended since it may not work.
In this last case, your best hope is to backup the apps .apk and store all other data somewhere where you can import to android (like storing the contacts in google account), since you shouldn't really restore anything else.

I want a full back up; calendars sms call logs applications data system data etc. For sms i use go-sms backup, i hope it will restore without any problem. When i backup with cwm and restore, will my settings (system( be protected as before?
With CWM if you restore you will get all data, including Rom, Kernel, sms, calls, etc All you data that is in internal memory. Don't worry. If you restore it, you will get the phone like it was when you made the backup.
Titanium capabilities
I was wondering if it is possible to backup app (with their data), sms and contacts....all in one go using Titanium (non-pro version) (I think we call it batch backup)? I am totally new to the ROOTING and CUSTOM ROM worlds and I am literally freaking out with all the huge info on this topic on the internet. I am using a CM10 on I9000. Please help!
Yes i wonder too.
Boot in recovery
select backup to ext sd
run...
you have back up everythin like ghost in pc....
( so you can try another rom and if you dont like it restore your back up and you have you old rom
working with all data app contacts etc )
you must youse the same cwm version for restore with the one that you use for backup

Are you attempting to backup so that you can move the apps/sms/settings to the new ROM or backing up in case you want to restore? Titanium backup is probably the thing you want in the former case and either with cwm backup or with linux dd backup in the latter. Personally I had problem moving system settings between roms, but apps should work just fine.

Restoring specific Android settings after a wipe

As a serial ROM flasher, the most important app in my life is Titanium Backup. However I don't like to use it to restore all my system apps and settings after a wipe because of the possibility of restoring junk I don't want.
The problem is, there ARE some settings that I always want to restore such as my ringtone and notifications, my custom LED colours, developer settings etc. What's the best way to backup and restore these individual settings? I'm assuming that it's possible with a script. Any suggestions or links you can recommend?
Thanks in advance.

Can't address all your needs, but an app called "ringtone keeper" makes backing ringtone information and restoring ringtones, including individual contact ringtones a snap.

Titanium Backup settings don't save across ROM type changes

Hi,
N910C
When I switch from TW ROM to CM rom, titanium backup settings aren't preserved. Anyone have pointers to keep the filter lists (the only thing that's really important)?
