A question about warrenty . - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi . .
3 days ago I've purchased a new Galaxy note 3
I rooted the phone without install any custom recovery or custom ROM
After that i unrooted the phone and removed everything
Does that void the warranty or not ??
Thank you . .

i think now in note 3, they will look for the knox flag to determine if the warranty is still valid.
reboot into your download mode and check on the flag. good luck!

ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME : SM-N900
CURRENT BINARY : SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS : OFFICIAL
is it fine ?

I found this on a forum :
"Now, this doesn’t exist on all Galaxy Note 3s, but only some of them. So, if you have a Knox counter, you will see something like:
Knox Warranty Void: 0×0
or
Knox Warranty Void: 0×1"
in downloading mode there is no counter !!
what does that mean ?

If there is no counter, means there is no visible knpx ****.

This is still a question mark but most are saying that if no knox counter in download mode then it means we are free

but you cant use cwm or twrp or install a custom rom
This root will void warranty.
Quote form the post you mentioned:
"Flash counters and KNOX warranty
Using this root method sets current binary and system status to custom. Additionally, it will also trigger the KNOX warranty void status.
This device store the traditional flash counter. Nor is is possible with Triangle Away to reset the current binary status. You will need to flash a stock kernel and stock recovery to reset the binary status.
The KNOX warranty status change is permanent, and a service center may deny warranty based on this flag - even if the other flags are reset correctly. The KNOX flag being tripped may also prevent certain Samsung KNOX features from working (enterprise security features). If this is something you care about, use a root method not based on custom kernels or recoveries, like a modified system partition. These are possible, but I don't personally make them, so look around!"

Strange
I want to know if I've rooted my SM-N900 at XXUBMJ1 and device status is CUSTOM and has no anything about warranty bit or knox, then I download new XXUCMJ7 XSE from Sammobile and flash via Odin then I see my device status is official then I boot the download mode and has warranty bit 1 and status is all official. How about your opinion Guys??? I couldn't show the picture coz I have already root with CWM and SuperSU now. That's my experience. Nothing I can do even reflash the original firmware with original recovery.
Note : Once I flash CWM the official status has gone.

Yes S3 Neo has Knox. You can use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bryancandi.knoxcheck app to check if you have Knox.
Info :

Software tools say it has. But after flashing different roms and recoveries gazzilion times mine still says 0x0. As you can see from the screenshot even atm I am using cm12.1 with TWRP recovery and it hasnt done anything to the counter. So to be honest I think no matter what you do you can just flash back stock from odin and keep waranty.

Heres another screenshot from Phone Info app. Now the since this app detects knox warranty void on models like s4, s5 and as far as I know s6, I highly doubt samsung went thru the trouble of putting some undetectable warranty counter and a mid range device such as our S3 neos.

My Phone is just two months old , should I root my mobile because I'm afraid of tripping the knox counter which obviously you can't reset.

I rooted mine the second day I got it (I got it somewhere around January). So far havent had any problems with it and the knox (if there is one) still says 0x0. That said rooting and flashing custom recovery is still something that may potentialy harm your device so its up to you to decide. Dont take my words as 100% proof everything will be ok. Maybe indeed w8 for a few more ppl to say if they had any problems with knox so far.

I am not 100% sure mate.
I checked my build.prop file and I found this "ro.config.knox=v00" I don"t know if it means, our phone has knox. I also found an app called "KNOX notification manager" in settings.

Knox isnt only related to warranty btw. It allso has to do with samsung enterprise security crap. Thats why we have some knox apps on our phones.
But again w8 for more reports from ppl who have rooted before you do it just to be safe.

You know what after rooting my mobile the first thing I did is to remove the Knox crap from my mobile, they scared me enough but not anymore:good:
I can confirm that re-flashing a stock rom resets the binary counter to official. Happy rooting!

Yep! Your warranty will not be void as long as your device is running a stock rom when you turn it in. You can check your binary counter by going to download mode.

If you flash CM 12.1 , it will trip the binary counter but you can always reset the binary counter with the help of Triangle Away App by ChainFire. Resetting the binary counter and then flashing the Stock Rom will restore the warranty of your device.

I'm not talking about Knox Counter but I'm talking about Binary Counter which every Samsung phone already have and keeps track of how many times a custom firmware had been flashed. And as far as Knox Security is concerned there is still no way to reset Knox counter but fortunately S3 NEO don't have it.

N9005 KNOX is burned in by efuse and cannot be reverted. As long as you don't use KNOX features it's not interesting anyway. Mine is 0x1 since.... two days after I bought the phone.
