How to update TWRP from 2.6.3.1 to latest? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have TWRP 2.6.3.1 installed on my ATT D800. How do I go about updating to the latest TWRP? Is it as simple as downloading the latest TWRP.img to the phone and flashing it while in recovery mode?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks

[Q] Cyanogenmod OTA update fail N9005

Hi all,
I have a N9005 which I rooted a while ago. When I tried to flash CM11 I didn't seem to have a custom recovery so I flashed CWM with Odin and then flashed CM11 with no problems and it works pretty well, the odd crash but nothing too upsetting.
However the OTA updates download and when the phone tries to update CWM says there is no such zip file so it aborts and reboots.
Would TWRP solve this issue for me and if it would, how would I go about removing CWM and installing TWRP?
Thanks in advance.
Some CM roms have OTA problems so you need to flash normally

Regarding installing TWRP recovery, just flash it via Odin.
Cheers guys, noob question but would there not be a conflict flashing Twrp when I already have cwm installed and where would I find the correct twrp for my model? Thanks
no conflict and you will find a thread fot twrp but you don't need it, I flash CM with Philz
ok, I've tried to flash philz from this source theandroidsoul.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-lte-sm-n9005-philz-touch-advanced-cwm-recovery-android-4-4-compatible/ and it doesn't seem to have worked. The phone went into a recovery loop which I can get out of by a battery pull but basically now I have no recovery any ideas? thanks again

Normally no..

Help Download Mode won't work!

Okay, so I have a Sprint LG G2 (LS980). I haven't used it in awhile so I flashed it to ZVE (Latest KK release.) via LGFlashTool. Well, I rooted via Stump Root, then I tried flashing a recovery via Flashify. It was Loki'd or anything, just the standard recovery.img from TWRP 2.8.6.0. This is where things started going bad. Recovery did not boot, nor did the ROM (for whatever reason), so I went back and tot'd ZVE again. When I booted up this time, I found a guide on how to flash the ZV7 aboot so I wouldn't need a patched recovery anymore. When I flashed this customer aboot, I also flashed the TWRP 2.6.3.3 (first version for G2 that was loki'd). I rebooted and all I got was a fastboot error...booted into TWRP and I had 2.6.3.3 TWRP, so I installed latest TWRP 2.8.6.0 inside recovery and now I can't get my ROM to boot anymore. I've tried numerous times to flash different firmwares for different releases on the LS980, but none of them overwrite my aboot. Download mode also does not work anymore. I'm lost at what to do. I have access to TWRP, but that's it. I want to get it back onto ZVE stock and I'll leave it at that if I can get it fixed.
(Use autorec app to downgrade bootloader and flash recovery. Flashify does disasters on G2.)
Flash blastagator bumped recovery and reboot recovery.
Flash dorimanx kernel and reboot recovery.
Flash the attacked zip and reboot to system.

Freezing TWRP Recovery

I've installed twrp recoveries ver. 2.8.1.0, 2.8.6.0 and 2.8.7.0 on my galaxy s4 (i9500).
i flashed all 3 versions with odin and with TWRP manager. In all cases after rebooting the device into recovery the screen was frozen and i had to take the battery out in order to boot in download mode and to flash phils recovery.
I love TWRP recovery. what can i do to avoid the freeze?

SM-9005 could not do normal boot when flashing TWRP 2.8.7.0

Hello. I have SM-9005 and by mistake I flashed the latest TWRP (3.2.3.0) when it should be flashed the 2.8.7.0. Successfully I reverted to recovery and firmware stock, but when when I tried to flash again to use the TWRP 2.8.7.0 the phone enters in Odin mode and says it could not do normal boot. However, I always succeed in flashing the 3.2.3.0 version. From the file list my TWRP 2.8.7.0 is the hltexx version and still can't flash it.
Without that TWRP I can't instal the MAGMA roms. I tried installing older versions of TWRP but with no success. Any thoughts? Thanks.
P.S: already found the solution. Wrong TWRP

Rooting Galaxy S5 GT-I9505 with Magisk

Hi,
I have a GT-I9505 with the latest stock firmware (5.0.1) and I'd like to root it with Magisk. Is it possible? If so, I'm assuming I need to first flash TWRP recovery before flashing Magisk via TWRP?
Just to confirm, should I use the TWRP for jflte at https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys4internationalqualcomm.html ?
So I tried to flash TWRP recovery (twrp-3.2.3-0-jfltexx.img.tar) from Odin 3.07. Odin shows that it's been flashed successfully. However, after rebooting back to recovery, I don't get TWRP recovery but the Android system recovery. Did I do anything wrong?
There's a topic on how to root s5 already
