[Q] G2 forum home is missing its features summary - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've noticed many phones forums here on XDA have nice feature summaries in their homepage. Where's ours? Are these community created or moderator created? It makes our phone seem less relevant than other recent releases such as the Moto X or Note 3.

Join now if your are currently a user of any of the Samsung Galaxy S devices!!!
Moved this thread from the Samsung Tab forum where it did not belong.
What is the use of these groups?
This is a dupe of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774092&page=1
And I'll reiterate my thoughts from the other thread:
1)This thread is misleading. It ISN'T an official group. It's possibly even less official than this forum, and there is no reason to believe Samsung is in the group.
2) I STRONGLY feel it actually is a step backwards, because you must be part of the the group to even read threads. To me this seems to suggest it has a greater interest in boosting numbers than encouraging cooperation, and sharing of information.
3) The assumption being made that you can easily blend all the development streams of the Galaxy S variants together is a wrong assumption. Whilst the phones are similar, until developers get together to merge all the drivers into a single rom (to create a universal rom), each phone does need it's own development board.
In that case consider it Closed
Been away a while, but indeed this can be seen as a violation, the thread adds nothing to the information on XDA and is spammy in it's nature.

Transparent navbar and notification bar?

I know the transparent notification bar was implemented on the Galaxy Nexus with AOKP and a few other ROMs. However it cased the Gnex to lag like crazy when it was set.
Curious if this option is available for the N7 and if it causes any lag, I figured the GPU and Processor are better than what is in the Gnex so possibly.
Also would like to see transparent navbar.
I just want an "Auto-hide" feature to reclaim precious screen real estate back from the ever-present Nav-bar...

Hide it all with GO Launcher.
I understand why this was moved to Q&A, but I honestly think the Q&A section is ridiculous. Very few people go on a forum and say to themselves "let me go see if I can answer some questions for people".
If you look at the General forum (where I originally posted this) vs the Q&A forum you will notice
General Forum: 1,109 threads 47,575 posts = average of 42 responses per post
Q&A Forum: 2,511 threads 18,421 posts = average of 7 responses per post
If its not Development, Accessories or Theme/app then its likely a question or a poll...

It's attitudes like that that get questions deadzoned instead of answered. Hundreds of people are on here answering questions for noobs all day every day.
Also, if you look in General and take time to read threads, you'll see it's heavily padded with info about BUYING a Nexus 7 - where to, how was shipping, how long did shipping take, did you get a deal, as well as advice from users who found solutions to common problems. Also the stats you posted about the response count should indicate to you that the problems posted in Q&A get solved *very* swiftly and efficiently. Resolution does not take dozens of answers when you have the awesome community that you have got here.
Recap - if you're providing GENERAL information about the device it goes to GENERAL. If you are asking a question to which you expect an answer, it goes to Q&A. Very, very simple, effective and efficient.
On stock, with stock launcher, this option is not available.
As to your problem - Someone suggested goLauncher to set it autohide, While this is possible, and works with stock and unrooted, I recommend against it as GoLauncher and all of the fun little widgets that come along with it are relatively inefficient on resource usage and one of their primay widgets is a task killer which, as we all know, is no good. Apex launcher also has this options IIRC, altho Apex has some quirks that I did not like, such as not rotating to landscape very well - i found my layout on homescreens got ruined whenever I rotated.
Preferably, you can also root and flash a different ROM, many of which offer autohide navbar features, including some others you might find helpful. I recommend SGT7 4.1.1 ROM as it's fast and stable, comes with great options and makes the Nexus 7 operate well (I just posted benchmarks in that thread, from build 4. Will post Build 5 benchmarks later too!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788518
As I stated I fully understand the difference between the two, I just think the difference is so inconsequential that separating the forums limits the amount of help received. I frequent these forums daily and feel I keep up on most of what is happening, however questions like the one I posed do a few things:
1. They allow people that maybe developed this mod for themselves to share their work, knowing others are interested in the same feature.
2. They give developers and idea of how many people are interested in such a feature
3. It gives multiple people the opportunity to share their variations of what I am looking for (Apex/Go Launcher)
I am not arguing that my thread was moved, I just honestly find this thread to be a graveyard most of the time.
You stated you can find "advice from users who found solutions to problems", does this mean if I find a solution to my problem (transparent bars) I should make another thread in General just to post about it? Seems redundant again.
I love the community, and for the most part XDA does a great job. I just think making so many divisions in the forums causes a lot of redundant threads/questions.
P.S. what is the difference between "orignal development and android development"? <----honest question

[REQ] AOSP Google Calendar to TW ROM builds (not replace S Planner)

Is this possible?
1. Fully working JB Google AOSP Calendar for TouchWiz based ROMs (that don't come with such a calendar, but with S Planner)
2. No replacement of S Planner (both apps usable at the same time)
3. Both calendars' reminders work and can get set individually ON/OFF from respective apps
Please note that "JellyBean Calendar" by Tim Hutt from Play Market is NOT the same as JB full AOSP calendar. It's an ICS compatible JB version with stripped down features.
Which specific features are missing from it that you need?

OP Please read the rules on proper posting. This is NOT a development thread therefore DOES NOT belong in development.
15. Keep posts/threads on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
General Forums - For news and announcements pertaining to your device.
Q&A Forums - For all question threads / posts. If there is no Q&A forum use the device General Forum
Accessories subforum - For posts related to accessories relevant to the phone model
Development Forums (ones with the word development in the title)- For developers to post release threads e.g. ROMs, Kernels, and mods.
Themes and Apps Forums - For themers to post themes and for app announcements and discussions.
Thread moved
I'm also looking for this.
I hate S Planner, want my old "basic" and complete, calendar.
1) In S Planner i need to create a remainder every time i create an appointment.
2) S Planner is not light

[Request] Dedicated section for Umeox x201 (AW-414/420, TrueSmart, etc...)

Really didn't want to do this but EVERYBODY that posted here, post in the Official *** New Device Forum Requests *** thread.
This may be the only way we are going to make this happen.
Would like to publicly request a dedicated section for the Umeox x201. This covers such devices like the the AW-414, AW-420, Vapirius AX-3, Omate TrueSmart ans at least three other devices based on the x201 platform.
Current issues with not having a dedicated forum are;
Informational master thread keeps getting buried
Cannot add development releases to the Dev DB
Development projects are not being posted due to lack of a development section
The current Omate TrueSmart main thread is now over 100 pages long and includes development, Q&A, general discussions and is near unmanageable
There is a lot of cross posting of the same information on the AW414 and TrueSmart threads because, except for case and name, they are the same device.

A section for this class of smartwatch would greatly help things. It would make it easier to find information because we could have single-topic threads. It would be easier to contribute because catching up with a thread would be quicker. It would allow the community to grow and operate.
But of course it would be useful to US. Every obscure device community could ask for a section and argue that it would help them. We need to argue that our device is so popular that a section is required. Here are some points to consider:
* Within the "Other Smartwatches" section, the "Omate Truesmart" thread has about 40% of the posts of the "MotoActv" thread. However, the MotoActiv has been around since 2011 and the Truesmart has been around since - well, for all intents and purposes, it isn't even out yet and there's still a thriving community
* There are more posts in the "Omate Truesmart" thread than in the entire "Pebble Smartwatch" section. Don't get me wrong, there's a huge and dedicated Pebble community out there. Here on the XDA forums, however, the Umeox x201 community is larger, more active, and in need of a good home
* A dedicated section will improve the quality of the site. Having monster threads like the "Omate Truesmart" thread make the site disorganized and difficult to use. If the information is easy to find, the users are better informed. Well-informed users make a better community. Better communities bring in more advertisment dollars.
* The time to act is NOW. The early devices are beginning to ship, and the there are only a few developers churning away. Over the next month or two, the number of devlopers will explode. Implementing a new section now will allow time for proper organization. Allowing a thread to balloon to 10,000 posts and we'll need to hire more mods to help sort the information into proper threads.
Does it make sense? Is it worth it? My professional experience in forum management (of which I have none) says yes!

Note to Admins:
We currently have info, fixes, development environment guides and so on spread out across multiple G+ communities and posts, two forums and personal pages and are already running into issues where even searching doesn't even find some it. If you decide to not create a section for the x201 please let us know as we will need to find some sort of solution.
agreed
You have my support. Now let's flood the official request thread

Couldn't agree more.
Would be grateful for a dedicated section as well.
I agree. We need a section for the best SmartWatches so far.
Aye, Loki, you have my axe!
(in other words, I support a dedicated forum)
Support!
One more here to agree !!
Omate might kill me for this since I'm one of their forum moderators and an admin, but I think a development forum on XDA is a much better thing then a "special development forum"...
Reason 1:
There are too much wise noses on the TS forums who think they know it all, but over here at XDA I mostly see professionals or at least people working together more professionally...
Reason 2:
There has never been an Asus Padfone series forum over here at XDA (even though a lot of people requested it), and there has been a lot of development for this device over at my Padfone community, but I know there would be a lot more development if the Padfone would've gotten it's own forum over here a XDA... So to make the TS (or any other Umeox watch since they're pretty much all the same, except for the exterior) a great success, proper development is required!
So +1
Agree
And as an avid reader of this forum and member since 2007 (when xda-dev was for xda's only), I support this request.

One Plus X Facebook Community

We all know how handy Facebook communities are, especially in the case of android devices. I tried searching for One Plus X community, but didn't found any.
For now, I have opened a One Plus X - Development and Discussion community where we people can discuss about the device, it's ROMs and kernels, updates and lots of other stuffs.
For now, the group is Open to all - Mod edit: Link removed but obviously if you own the device, then only you're recommended to join otherwise it's redundant.
If you have friends who own one plus x do invite them to the group! Let's expand our community to Facebook too!
Isn't this what XDA is for? Facebook has nothing else I need, thanks.
While you are more than welcome to open a development discussion thread here on XDA, encouraging members to participate in off-site activity is discouraged and also against the forum rules.
