Sony XAV-701HD & Note 3
I also have a headunit that has Mirrorlink, Sony's top of the line non-navi double din XAV-701HD, and when I first bought this, literally the only samsung phone that it worked on was the S3, and I had the note 2. Then they released the Note 2 support but I had completely forgotten about it and moved on to the Note 3 without ever using it, now I am hoping they will release a working version in the forseeable future like they did with the 2 for the 3?

Anyone got the solution?

Galaxy Note 3 Mirror link / Drive Link
I have a new 2014 Hilux P/U with a double din unit that supports miirorlink, I can't install drive link from Samsung app store / Play store as it is not available for SA,
I've downloaded several APK's for drivelink from various websites and can not get any of them to work
I'm somewhat of a noob, is there anyone that can offer any advice?

any jvc users with a successful connection with note 3 what model are you using, called jvc Australia and they told me that the note 3 works along with any other android above 4.1 using jvc app, can anyone confirm that.

Any updates on mirrorlink with note3 and sony xav602bt?

Seems no one knows... I'm opening a new thread about this mirrorlink function in the developpement section hoping someone could build an update.zip with the MirrorLink function

Guys for those of you with a compatible head unit this awesome feature now works with the note 2, you will have to side load the apk as it's not listed as compatible through Samsung apps yet

Where do you get the app from? I have a Sony XAV-601BT head unit and the lack of MirrorLink/Drive Link on this device is what was holding me back from getting a Note 2. It all works fine?
just got a note II
hey I have this same headunit can you please let me know which apk you loaded to get this working
I've found this download, but I don't know it will work.

That worked!! Thanks dude
Did it work unrestricted or was it just connecting to the head unit properly?
I want to pull the trigger on the Sony head unit but if it is restricted and I can only access the few things on Drivelink then there isn't much of a point to get the unit.

install the apk and run it, use the very last exploit method. i can confirm this works on the 4.1.2 update. after just install and run busybox from the market.
now all we need is a working recovery.

unless clockworkmod makes one the twrp team told me they cannot as no one owns it yet.
I wonder if it is closer to a Galaxy Note 2 (t0 family) or a Note 10.1 (n80xx family).
CPU/Specs are similar to both devices.
And the framaroot did work.

Just installed and achieved root using Aragon method on my new Note 8

FM radio tuner?
This is definitely great news.
Crazy, but I'm planning to pick up one of these for use as my new in-car entertainment/stereo/nav/phone system using optical digital output from the Note 8.0 via microUSB->mhl HDMI adapter->HDMI-to-Toslink Optical Digital output converter fed into my Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 car audio DSP, then to amplifiers and speakers. I'm currently using my Note II/N7100 for this with awesome results, but would like a bigger screen.
I didn't see it come up in any of the specs I found online...do you gents know if the International model of the Note 8.0 (with 3G & phone dialer) will have a hardware FM Radio Tuner like the i9100, N7000, & N7100?

Spec wise its the same as the note 2. Just a higher resolution.
Does unroot work as well?
Is it possible to update via OTA afterwards?
What about the flash counter? Is it being incremented by rooting the Note 8.0?
Thanks for the info!

Nothing is being flashed here, so no counter is changed. It's simply a software only exploit that circumvents and injects the SU parts to give us admin rights.
I can't comment for sure on the updates, I think you can just remove the SU app and update then run the exploit again, that said, there's nothing saying they patch the hole that allows us to root here and you won't be able to re-root with this method after updates.

Also, using OTA Rootkeeper might work to hide root while installing an OTA. But I don't think we will know for sure, until an OTA is rolled out, and we try it. Every device and every OTA is different.
Any particular reason why XDA still does not have a forum for this device? The release of the Note 8 in general seemed to be very much on the quiet side. Hopefully the Note 8 sells decently, and gets some dev support. Its a great device. Nice to see a 7-8" Android tablet that is not relegated to the bargain basement; but rather at a higher price point with a full feature set.
If you want a forum created for the Note 8, make it known by posting here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354
I was asking because usually on Samsung devices it is not possible to run an OTA update while it is rooted (you normally get a message that your device has been modified when you search for updates). But unrooting the device (with Framaroots unroot feature) should make it able to run OTA updates again. There are some reports though, that on some devices OTA update isn't possible even after unroot with Framaroot.
Could anyone of you please try to unroot the device and start an OTA update? When you get the message "no update found" (since there are no updates yet), everything is fine...
Thanks!

Interesting idea. I've seen it done a few times with Nexus 7's, which you might want to consider for half the price. To answer your question- I haven't read anything about an FM tuner and have no reason to think it comes with one. I've found that most phone/tablet devices with one don't work extremely well anyway.
It's a much cheaper solution than the 7" Alpine unit I was looking to put in my car ($1200). I just don't want to butcher my car to get it in. You seem to be much more capable with the install. Good luck with it.
I'm just hoping for a mod that allows any app to be used in the multi-window "tab". I'm tempted to try the mod for the Note 2, but haven't done enough research yet to see if that would be worth the risk or not...

MirrorLink Note3 Lollipop?

I see the Note 4 supports it, If I am running a Note 3 with Lollipop 5.0 does my phone have mirrorlink support? I just bought a Pioneer App radio, I can root my Note 3 with is already a strike towards selling the radio, I was wondering if I could use Mirrorlink on the phone at least.

You can? Please tell us how! The rest of us been scratching our heads for months on the hack..
With your original question, was there no info available after typing "MirrorLink Note 3" into Google's search bar? If you're unable to locate anything, its likely the feature doesn't exist, however I'm surprised zero documents were found with the search, were you really the only person in the whole world thats been curious of this?
Wow no need to be a **** about it, I accidently didn't type can't forgot a t. I did do a search and couldn't find much on it

Tried it but couldn't get it to work for some reason. Which version do you have: 910c or 910f? This one should work with the package from post 4. Please report back if you have any luck getting it to work.
Noticed that you have the snapdragon version so my suggestions won't apply to you.

i have a 910w8 which is the same as the 910t. That rom wont work on my phone.
is there such a rom? i keep searching the forums but found nothing regarding the new gear vr...
None of the N5 ports supports Gear VR.
Why u want the new headset? The original innovator edition is still the best one. The new official release is lighter yes but has a white inlay so light reflects on it while wearing it and really takes the immersion away.

Don't think you can far as I know it's for Samsung only
There was this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-2/general/guide-oct-29easiest-to-pair-install-t2921994 however when I tried with my 6P the gear manager kept crashing so not sure the build is compatible with Marshmallow or what the deal is.
