hi there
I wonder if someone could help. I was using my note 3 this evening and added a picture to my scrapbook from Google image search. It seemed to add OK. Now when going to scrapbook I get a blank screen for a few second and then it quits and I get a failed to load error.
I've tried force quitting the app as clearing the cache and data but same happens.
Does anyone know where the scrapbook files are kept so I can go in and manually delete them?
My device isn't rooted but if I need to to save resetting the whole device I will do
Thank you!
Dave
I also have this problem, Scrapbook is behaving exactly as you described... Data and cache wouldn't fix anything.
Also looking for its save folder to manually delete my scraps and hope it'll repair it.
My guess is that I used a strange character on a collection save name...

Edit: The old title was "Google Apps for Android 2.3.6 ROMOW 4.1 ROM"
Hi everyone
I was running the great ROMOW 4.1 ROM on my Note and (I don't know what hit me) mistakenly flashed the google apps 6 for ICS (I didn't know the ICS bit at the time of flashing). In order to fix this I flashed the updated ROMOW 5.1 ROM and immediately ran into more trouble. After flashing, the system boots nicely but then hangs in a google account setup error loop. My last backup is from mid of december and I now wonder whether I could simply flash the correct google apps version on top of the mess in order to get back to normal?
Doing a factory reset also solves the issue but then all my Xmas SMS as well as other data from my last backup till today will be gone.
Before doing the factory reset I took a CWM backup of the faulty system which worked perfectly.
Thanks a lot for any suggestions and have a great year!

Sms backup + In the market backs up urn sms to gmail. Titanium backup does you apps and settings that about covers it I think?

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately as I am stuck in a fatal error setup loop the only things I can do is boot into recovery and work from there or restore an old backup, trying to recover my settings and data from the CWM backup of the faulty system which I took before factory resetting the phone.
Does anyone know how I could retrieve my SMSs and call logs as well as my sMemo drawings from the CWM Backup of the faulty system as these are the crucial things I would like to recover. I have a many hours worth of sMemo drawings and restoring the sMemo user data with Titanium Backup didn't recover them. I don't understand why sMemo doesn't store the drawings on the sdcard and why Titanium didn't backup those. The same goes for SMSs, shouldn't those also be backed up by Titanium?
Again, thanks a lot for your help and for any short explanations of the above!

OK, this is a great way to learn about android
I learned that I can unzip the CWM backup data.ext4.tar from my faulty system and push certain user data back to a fresh system using ADB.
I am after my SMemo drawings and my SMS Messages. I think the sMemo files for example could be here:
com.sec.android.widgetapp.diotek.smemo
If I push those files/directories in recovery mode with adb to my /data/data directory everything seems fine. I can list them in an ADB shell but after a reboot they are gone.
Do I have a permission issue here?
adb root says I am running adb as root
I also tried adb remount before pushing with no success.
I really appreciate any help!
Thanks a lot

Nearly there!
I flashed a new custom ROM, booted into recovery mode and mounted the /data directory (before I forgot to do that and couldn't push any data in recover mode because of that).
I extracted the following directories from my faulty system backup and pushed them with adb to the fresh phone:
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony
/data/data/com.sec.android.provider.logsprovider
After this all my SMS and Calllog Databases were restored.
Now I just need to find the necessary sMemo Databases. I found this one so far:
com.sec.android.widgetapp.diotek.smemo
But pushing this only brings back the document and pile structure with empty documents in sMemo.
Does anyone know where the missing documents are?
Thanks a lot and have a great weekend

This handy app can restore your sms and Apps from CWM. So feel free to flash again any ROM and then use the app to extract your SMS
Good luck

Thank you, that app sounds perfect. Have you tried it? I tried to recover some system Apps and it frequently performs a quick restart in the middle of it, so I guess the remaining Apps had not been restored.
Unfortunately it also doesn't recover my precious sMemo drawings. Does anyone have an idea where in the data directory those are stored?
Best wishes

Where do get whatsapp plus from?
Normally when stock whatsapp can be registered and chat only one word' deinstal it without cleaning data, install whatsapp plus from original source there is no problem to register your number.
If not try it same way like mentioned with cleaning all data and caches.
Hope it will help you

The only tip I have is after deinstalling the original whatsapp go to your internal storage and delete the remaining whatsapp folder.
After that, and if you have root, look at /data/data if there is anything from whatsapp as rest (*.odex,*.apk) or something like that.
Delete this and try it again.

Without root there's no way to delete anything. If you don'to want to root the only way, that's only my opinion, to get it working is to do a factory reset. Save all and reset... after new setup restore everything from Google play.
But don't hit me if i'm wrong. I'm no dev.... only a normal android user with less knowledge

Being root only backup your official working Whatsapp. Then Uninstall Whatsapp and clear Whatsapp data.
Install Whatsapp plus and without opening it, restore only data from your backup and ready. Now you can open Whatsapp plus...
Please thanks if I helped you...

hi guys, I made a backup of my buddies phone with philz recovery. Then I flashed it but the contacts did not sync and i forgot to back those up. So I went to restore the back up and upon booting up all the apps crash. Like I cant do anything, all i get is a black screen with "has suddenly stopped working"
I have no idea whats going on. I flashed phone back to stock and rooted it and am trying to use nandroid manager to go to the Com.contacts folder and extract/copy it but to no prevail. The contacts in this case are very important.
What's going on? What can I do to get the contacts out? Or why the heck wont the backup work? It's like it got corrupted even though it did say it backed up just fine with no errors. Thanks!
You can use Titanium Backup to extract data from nandroids.......you have to pay for the app.....but it is one of the most useful apps a rooted phone user can get.

Just thought id add a note here, the stock contacts app has the ability to backup/restore contacts, just go to your contacts and go to settings<contacts then there should be an import/backup option.

after a long tedious day I managed to succeed... I got the backup onto my pc, combined the couple .a-e files into one, and went into where the contacts2.db is, I then copied that to phone, and used a file explorer with root, copied and pasted it in the old place and walla... I converted contacts to google account as to "device" only and now they are finally actually being maintained by google sync.
I know that you can just import/export a contact list and I should of done that in the first place as it'd of saved me literally hours of work... But I thought that google automatically synced the contacts and that it wasnt that you had to change them over to google.
At least I guess the contact issue is solved. I still have no idea why the backup was having the apps crash. so It's good i made one to extract the file from but on the otherhand. It's useless in the sense i cannot boot it up.
Introduction:
If you're like me, you've probably owned a rooted device before getting your shiny new Priv. Being on rooted devices almost always, I've gotten used to installing Titanium Backup as the first app on any new device I get, after rooting it of course. To restore everything. With the exception of the Priv. Since there's no root for it (yet), and god knows when it'll be available, I needed to restore my TiBu somehow without root. I couldn't use Helium because it doesn't backup certain apps (including WhatsApp) because of the developer's restrictions. I couldn't install WhatsApp and start fresh not only because I'd lose my chats (unless I copy the folder), but also because I'd have to reactivate it; I don't have access to the simcard I used to register for WhatsApp, and I'm not ready to change numbers just yet.
Requirements:
1- Your old device, rooted, with Titanium Backup on it.
2- WhatsApp apk version 2.11.295. (Google it)
3- Your Priv
Instructions:
Albeit simple, it's not very obvious:
1- Backup WhatsApp (app+data) on your old device using TiBu.
2- Uninstall WhatsApp, and install version 2.11.295 on both devices (old and Priv).
3- On your old device, using TiBu, restore WhatsApp's data ONLY without the apk.
---Now you have all your WhatsApp data, on a backup-able version!---
4- Use ADB or Helium to create a backup of WhatsApp from your old device.
5- Restore the backup using ADB/Helium onto your Priv.
6- Using the Play Store, update your WhatsApp to the latest version.
7- ????
8- Profit!
Notes:
* If after restoring on your Priv you can't see WhatsApp, this is likely due to not having the APK installed on your Priv. If you do have it, check your logcat as it will tell you what's wrong.
* This guide, hypothetically, should work with any app that doesn't allow backups. Just look for the app's APK before it started disabling backups. (You might have to try installing a few apks before the app shows on Helium as "Can be backed up". To give you a hint, the feature was added to ADB tools for ICS 4.0)
* Click here for more information about ADB backup.
* I know this is not the most appropriate place for a guide this broad, I'll move it where it belongs as soon as I know where that is.

Does it make a full backup? I.e. after restoring, would I need to reactivate by using a phone number? If yes, then it's not a full backup and unfortunately wouldn't have helped me earlier

And no need to re-activate via sms? I never knew that, thanks.
Hi, in these days my phone was sent to service repair. Now all data is cleared. Before repair I made a full backup via Samsung account.
Now I can't restore backup, also tried wipe data and re-flash firmware.
At first boot tried to restore backup, when it search for backups, it appear a loading bar with something like "Restore" and it looking for backups but it will disappear in few seconds.
I have minimum of 3 backups stored, tried to redo a backup manually and restore but I can't, same via Settings->Backup and restore.
What can I do? It seems that I can't restore my past and future backups.
Thank you
Hi, I have same problem, did you already solve it?
Not yet, I think that it's not a problem related with the smartphone but with the account. I think that we have to call Samsung support.
Same issue here with S7!
SOLVED! Resetted the app Samsung Cloud and then updated, reboot, wait 2/3 mins and restored backup successfully.
Did not work. How did you reset? Just cleared the data? And I see no updates..

Yes, cleared cache and data. It worked for me.
You may try to see logs.
1. Open dialer and compose *#9900#, clic on DEBUG LEVEL and select MID or HIGH, your device will reboot automatically.
2. Redo the procedure to try to restore backup(in this way you will generate the logs for your issue)
3. Open dialer and compose *#9900#, clic on RUN DUMPSTATE/LOGCAT/MODEM LOG, wait for the process to complete and select COPY TO SD CARD (include CP RAMDUMP)
4. Search for the log file and see if you can read something wrong.
Contacted Samsung Support. And that is exactly what they did - updated (some nontrivial way) Samsung Cloud app. Then I could do the restore! Hurray!
what should i do next after this?
If anyone still has this issue, what worked for me was to go to Galaxy Apps and update the Cloud app. (You have to display system apps.)
It's a tip I found here:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...rver-try-again-later.html?passport=1548204689
You can follow the steps to get back your Samsung data.
1. Recover the wanted data from Samsung Account. To get back your files, you need to go to Settings and elect Accounts once again. Next, choose Samsung account and tap on Restore. After that, you can select the file types that you want to restore and click on Restore now to start restoring.
2. Confirm your option. After taping on the Restore now option, a pop-up prompt will appear to ask you to confirm your action. Just tap on ok to proceed the process.
I had a problem with restoring my repaired phone. It turned out I had two Samsung Cloud accounts; one with one phone contact and approximately 6 photos. The two SC accounts were attached to two different emails. I found this out by logging in to Samsung Cloud on my PC. Then I had to do a hard restore on my phone and then I was able to sign in to the correct SC account and could restore my precious data.
