[Q] Call recording APPS - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which call call recording apps are working for you on the G2? I have tried Total Recall on a 30 day trial and it works fine. These apps can be touch and go on some phones and I'm just wondering what everyone else is using?

This one works wonders. It's free to use without any catches whatsoever. No BS and straight to the point call recording app with a few bits of extras.

Works but sound is not crisp and clear... Somewhat distorted

Using Record My Call. Works great perfect recording quality. Be sure to set audio source to phone call in the tweaks section.

No, VS980 and I do save as a wav file. Yes, both parties are perfectly clear. I've imported into Audacity and don't even need to amplify or adjust. Been using it for about a week.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I'm most likely going to purchase Total recall, just because it works so well. I will check out the other apps before my 30 day trial ends.

I'm trying out Total Recall as well (thanks to your recommendation) and it seems to work flawlessly! I've only recorded one call so far, but if it works this well on every call I will be purchasing too. It records both voices crisp and clear with equal loudness. Thanks!

I have tried call recorder by skvalex. working fine. clear audio both sides

I use Another Call Recorder. Bought the pro version cause it is super. It records, as well as uploads to Google drive helping free up space on my device. Have it running all the time with a prompt to save recording after every call. Perfect. In market. Running stock rom that isn't rooted.

+1 this app is jam up... Cheaper than total recall and allows me to delete all files older than x days so I'm not using up memory needlessly!

Could have save some money and flashed AEON. Call recording is built into the rom.
If you want a basic boring rom flash something else. We don't do basic here.

Call recording on Vibrant

Galaxy S I9000 are now able to record the call directly by internal system without using speaker and mic. The recorded voice is clear for both side.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863074
Anyone already tried this technique on our Vibrant?
Dunno if its possible on the vibrant but even if it was we would need an app that's coded for it. Right now it seems all the recording apps require mic+speakerphone.

I use the app called "Call Recorder" and have had great success with recording conversations without the use of speakerphone during the call. I recorded a sample of me calling my cell phone from my home phone. The recording quality is good enough that you can hear the caller's dialogue, and your voice will be crystal clear because it's recorded through our phone's microphone.

Did you check if the call drop is happening from the other end?
Sorry for the offtopic, but did the newest skype version change your icons while receiving a call?

Should be doing something in the settings? Thanks

it seems like skype is aware of this issue with canadian i9020/i9023. skype 2 doesnt seem to recognize it as a nexus s and thus we dont get the video call function. Im not sure when a fix is supposed to come
I just saw this thread, so I figured I would download skype on my NexusS (just got it a week ago). I did a quick test call to my wife who`s out of town and it worked flawlessly. Not sure why it`s not working on some of your phones.

recording voice calls

I need a way to record voice calls, both lines. I have looked into some apps that don't work so well, so i need your help.
I have never had much success with these types of apps. The best one that recorded both sides of the conversation breaks Bluetooth which is a deal breaker for me.

That's how I do it. I open up voice recorder & put call on Speaker & record call.
i honestly dont remember i tried several apps from the market, i could look to see if any of them look familiar but i move through so much stuff i cant say for suer which one it was. plus i use cm7 and this could have played a role what worked and how well it worked. sorry!!
I use CallRecorder from the market and Lithid's Freedom v8.5 kernel. Works great. I get both sides and I don't have to be on speaker phone.
Google voice, press #4 when the call connects. The best I have used.

[Solved]Call Recording

Geez, there are so many call recording apps on the market. Most of them just simply doesn't work. Has anybody found a working call recorder for the i337 and/or the i9505G? I'm really getting tired of testing them out despite reviews. Such a pain to completely remove some of them. Sort of got ripped off on another claiming it works on the s4.
I would love to record calls via Bluetooth. Not sure if that's even out there or not either.
If you would like to share any information please let me know! Thanks!

There is a modded call recorder in the Apps section that works fine. You can also use "Call Recorder" by SkvAlex, there is another post in the Apps section on how to get it going. I have used both and if you follow the directions they both work fine. If you decide to use them, make sure you read the entire threads before you do to see what to expect. Personally, I am now using SkvAlex's Call Recorder APK because I like the interface and how it works. You can use a free version (avaialable here at XDA). It might be a trial, but I would suggest purchasing the app. The modded call recorder I mentioned to begin with is free. Either way, you can search the Apps section for each thread. Good luck.
Thanks. I'll try the free one and if it works I'm way more than willing to pay for it.

Does everything else work well with the GoldenEye ROM as well? Are there any problems that you have encountered that may not be on XDA?
EDIT: I downloaded the GoldenEye ROM, and noticed something that bothers me. Hangouts will not work over WiFi. I know how to fix that in the SQL editor but that's really a bother to me especially when I have to do it fairly often. Is there a gapps package that I can flash or something that will make this go away? Thanks.

Please explain. I just got my fiance a GS4. It shipped with MF3 update already on it. I rooted it but the same call recorder apps that work on my GS4 don't work on hers. I am searching for answers.
It's going to be the kernel on her phone. It won't work with a lot of them. I never tested on MF3 so I wouldn't be a good source to help you there. You can always safestrap amd flash MDOB.

Good call recording app or mod for KitKat

Now after KitKat my favourite call recording (ACR) stopped working. They are aware and told that Note3 users with KitKat cannot use their program.
Is there a good program that I can use for call recording?
Maybe is possible to use this?

But I am a newb, would rather have simple instruction on how to add the feature.
Or an app.

yes 2-3 program I checked all the same problem ...
I saw a report from a user that he managed to get call recording worked on KK by using ''call recorder'' app by skvalex. He used a beta version of the app (1.5.3 alpha04) and you can easily find it here on XDA. He also stated that he played with the settings of the app and he got it worked by choosing ''amr'' sound format from the app options/settings! Didn't check it by myself as I don't have KK on phone yet but everyone who needs it badly, they don't have anything better to do but keep trying options!

WORKS, WORKS, WORKS!!!!!!
Just tried the app from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643&page=285) and its working flawlessly (version: 1.5.3 alpha05)
I installed the app and rebooted the phone.
First call after reboot didn't record but after that all was working.
2 way records works perfectly and i didn't even have to change the output to AMR (default and AMR settings works though)
Just for clarification, running Note 3 (N9005), Crash Rom and im rooted

ACR & non root call recording
Call Recording issues with Note 3 Android 4.4 Kitkat
copluk created an issue 2014-02-02
We have gathered that if your KitKat update build date is earlier than 14th January 2014 call recording will not work anymore, when you try ACR or any other call recorder, you will only hear a static noise from all "Audio sources". This seems to be an unintentional bug.
Fortunately Samsung seems to have fixed this issue later on, we were able to confirm with few users that starting from Russian KitKat update for Note3 with build date 14th January 2014 and kernel version 3.4.39-376474 (see attached screnshot) call recording works as usual. If you have LTE version, check if your kernel version is above 3.4.39-376474.
UPDATE on 24/02/2014 It seems above information applies to Note3 NON LTE version. From comments to this article I can see that even the updates in February for LTE version of Note3 hasn't got changes merger to it.

Extremely thankful for your fast reply , also can u let me know is we can hide the call recording display while the call is active, is there any warning sign that is heard by other party
The recording start before dial tone activated so u may heard dial tone in record files. The recording display is something forgetable but I personally made request to Dr Ketan for it to be hidden / removed in the future though and he said he will see what he can do as it might be needed so it won't get closed by Android OS accidentally while recording.

If not rooted the location is in internal SD on folder Voice, if rooted it will be on external SD on folder Sounds. Protecting or not protecting is matter of to protect or not the folder mentioned. For me since my device is always encrypted and need password everytime screen wakes up it wouldn't matter.
