Simple question! 3 apps without which you can't imagine having your Note 3.
I'd say:
1. Lockscreen Widget
2. Facebook
3. CPU Spy
Anybody know a good lockscreen where I can put the camera Icon bit still have a pin to enter?

If you're rooted, there's an Xposed module called "Samsung Multiple Widgets". It allows multiple widgets on a secured lockscreen, and includes an option to swipe left to launch the camera. It prevents access to the Gallery app, but as a result, you also can't review any pics you've just taken.
1. Xposed framework and App Settings and wanam (need root)
2. Folder Sync - to sync folders on your phone with cloud services
3. Tasker - automate your life

I am not rooted though. I need a camera Icon on the lock screen and still have to use a pin to get in. I do not want to root... Anyone have any ideas?

1. Apex Pro
2. Zooper Widget
3. Sidebar Pro
4. ES File explorer. (Which idiot decided it was a good idea to remove the 'remember scroll position' feature on the stock explore? Not all that fun if you have a folder with 2764 sequential files... And it keeps hoping back to top after every single one.)

You may need to look this up but de la vega method of rooting WON'T trip the Knox warranty void....
Also I found this on the Aussie thread - Another handy tip, in the CSC folder, rename the customer.xls to customer.xls.bak and then a new option will be available in the settings/device/lock screen menu to add app shortcuts to the lock screen
---------- Post added at 12:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:08 PM ----------
Just trying to keep all these hints and tricks in one place.
if you add this code to the others.xml file AFTER <FeatureSet> and BEFORE </FeatureSet>
<CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>true</CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>
<CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>en_GB;en_U S;de;fr;es;it</CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>
You will then enable sub symbols on the default keyboard (Like below)

Thankyou Tobz...
I have a Note 3 from the Phillipines but it still worked.... You will still need to be rooted though...
I still want a pin locked screen with a camera Icon I can use on my non rooted phone without rooting my phone.

The swipe up/home button press my magazine gets removed. Thats it.
You can overcome this, (Im using apex) and you can bind my magazine to a home button press if you miss it.
Using Nova Launcher Prime, all of the spen features work perfect, haven't noticed anything that is broken yet.
Can I disable My Magazine?
I'm coming from the other direction. I like the stock launcher and everything Touchwiz and S-pen related, I just want the swipe-up My Magazine feature to be disabled. Is there a way to do this without rooting or using a different launcher? Thanks in advance,
Nate

On my Note 2, S-Note had widgets you could create for individual note pages - I believe they were large by default (4x3 maybe?) but with Nova you could resize they and they'd display the whole content of that page - tapping them would open S-Note to that page ready to write. --- and it was -only- the note itself comprising the widget - no border, no menus, no overlaid titles. So if you had a black background and created a note with an all-black background, it would blend in perfectly and just show your writing overlaid on your homescreen.
This was extremely valuable to me. On the Note 3, with the revamped S-Note, there's only one widget option and it's a tabbed overview of all notes/most recent notes. Lots of border crap, wasted space, view of the notebooks, etc. It sucks.
Anyone have a replacement widget to emulate the old one??
not sure if this is what you want but the app "sweet Notes" can do something like that

I know exactly what you are talking about and it is also the biggest thing I loved in my Note 8. I am also wondering why they removed that feature. I hope there is a way to bring it back.

I haven't found anything to help. I'll mail Samsung and may go back to the S Notes version from the Note 2, I have a Titanium backup of it. Hopefully that would work.
Yeah i too noticed the absence of that widget. I really liked it and used it alot on my s4 and s3. If someone figures out a way to bring it back I would like to know as well.
This is the first thing I noticed, and is now part of a very long list of things my Note 2 did much better than my Note 3. I wish it wasn't so popular for companies to constantly change/update things that are steps backwards. Updates should just add new features, not change for the sake of changing.
The closest thing I can find to emulate this missing feature is to take a screenshot of your S-Note page, then add that to your homescreen as a "picture" widget. It's a hassle and doesn't scale as intuitively as the old version of S-Note though.

This has bothered me as well, but now I found that you can long-press the folder of the note and choose the option to "add shortcut to home" and then you have direct access to the note via the created icon. You can rename the note's folder first if you choose to do so. Put the icon whereever you choose. Works for me.

This is just adding an icon, completely different than a versatile, re-sizable, widget containing a scalable image of the note itself.

I tried restoring old S Note from my Note 2 backups and things broke, so no go on that front - at least just a basic restore didn't work. I didn't dig deeper, but I'm guessing there are various other dependent libraries that have been updated.
I did find an old S Memo flashable zip I had used on the 2, which is what S Note used to be. I might give that a try - I don't recall if it comes with the page widget.

At&t screwed me over, and locked up the Note 3 bootloader pretty tight. Interested if the S Memo works for you though, as I'm sure someone will crack the At&t version soon as the bounty is getting pretty high.
Note 3 -- Tapatalk
No luck. I flashed my S-Memo installed and it ran without crashing anything but wouldn't receive any pen input, as well as a few minor display/function things.
UGH.
Action Memo does this.
I used that feature a lot, for my To Do's. Action Memo does the trick.

Unfortunately, not really the same at all. First, the Action Memo widget is only available on the stock TW launcher - not in Nova/Apex/etc, which makes it a non-starter. Next, it's not resizable, because TW doesn't allow arbitrary widget resizing.
Sucks.

Finally I found a solution...Lecture Notes can make widgets from individual pages resized with Nova Launcher.

I'm still looking for a way to do this. I have the latest S5 S Note app and still no S Note Page widget.
Anyone ever find a working solution (not for a different note app)?

You could try App Memo from play store. I too missed the old widget from my Note 1. the full version of App memo allows you to use an actual memo as a widget, various size options available. Although it has less functions than the S note app, for simple memo's, I find it easier and quicker to use.
My admin enforces PIN on Android plus encrypted PIN, which is annoying as heck.
But the real downside seems to be that I can't add any widgets to the lockscreen. I have no issues on Windows Phone or iPhone to take a picture from the lock screen. Any clue how to do this on Android w/ Knox?
I'm on a Galaxy Note 3 using stock 4.4.2 ROM, updated via Kies. I am not rooted.
So my questions:
1) Can I add a camera shortcut (or other shortcuts) to the lockscreen with PIN protection via a settings change within TW?
2) If I remove the PIN and make the change will it stay once I add the PIN back?
3) Are there apps or other launchers that will modify TW to allow changes to the lockscreen?
4) Is Root or ROM required to make these changes? Any helpful threads I need to read?
Hope you can help. I'm pretty annoyed at the level of customization needed to make a simple change...
I did it with Widgetlocker. Add a camera to their lock screen and set that action to log you in for access to that app only. Works well!

Will check it out, thanks.
Moving from a Note 2 to Note 4 is a joy in terms of the upgrade to the features. One feature that I miss though is the ability to have shortcuts to applications right on the lock screen. This allows one to access the app from the lock screen with a single swipe. Unfortunately it seems like in the Note 4, such a shortcut is only available for the camera. Grateful if anyone can enlighten on how the app shorcut feature can be implemented in the Note 4!

I've been wondering the same thing. I can't think of a single reason that they would get rid of the shortcuts. I even tried the module on the Xposed framework that fixed the shortcuts for the S5 but that didn't work either. I'm really looking forward to a fix.
The best thing is that it seems like you get more shortcuts when you have the S View Cover on. You'll be able to access heart beat sensor, torchlight etc. Maybe it's a marketing gimmick to get people to buy the cover

So when I am on my s7 edge (edge apps) and i go to tasks edge. I click the settings tab, on bottom left. Then go to that edge panel and click the bottom pencil(edit) Once there it says on top left( once you add shortcuts to homescreen from within apps they will appear here) so how do I do this? I I can't find any way to make these shortcuts? Any help?
One way is with an app called Awesome Icons. You may also want to install the Touchwiz Icon pack if you are using the stock icons. Also, you may may want to try QuickShortcutMaker. These effectively let you add App shortcuts to Task Edge.
Thanks georgeP,
I figured since it was there and mentioned that Sammy would have had a means of doing it. I will try the above mentioned. Thanks again

I added a couple of things there using Nova launcher but I can't remember how I did it.... Does anyone else have a solution for this? A google search only takes me to this thread.
Sorry to "me too" spam but I haven't found a way yet, either. The QuickShortcutMaker certainly makes shortcuts but I don't see how to put them to the Tasks Edge.
i need to put there messenger contacts, whatsapp contacts, telegram contacts but i can't...there is a way ?

One simply need to add the needed shortcut(s) to any page of the *Touchwizz Laucher*
After that it become available to add in the tasks panel
It works even if you use an alternative launcher: one just need to temporary switch to Samsung launcher to create the shortcut
Oncethe shortcut is added to the panel, you don't even need to keep it on the launcher desktop.
