I am obviously rooted but it says it needs root permission. It says if you are rooted make sure your firewall can issue the su command. Any help?

Hello!
I'm trying to connect to a Cisco VPN client by using VPN Connections.
I am on a rooted wildfire (but it is still the "shipped" ROM) and can by now work with the adb shell.
For getting the VPN working, I'm using this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511849&page=3#post3814574 (scroll down untill the post of Phlogiston")
What I practicly did was following the tutorial untill step 4, but then I'm stuck. Every time I try to excecute "adb shell modrobe tun" I get a "Permission denied" error.
And this is sounds a little bit weird to me. Becaus I'm sure that the phone is rooted (and the adb shell is permitted superuser permissions by the superuser app on the phone), but I still get a lot of those errors. Doesn't beeing root mean that you have all permissions?
If someone can help me clearify the things, you would't be my hero for today
Thanks in advance!
*EDIT* forgotten to say: I've installed busybox by using the "problem" option in titanium backup. So it should be installed, but I don't find it anywhere back in the phone. I tried to install it manualy following this tut (http://www.gadgetsdna.com/busybox-installation-steps-on-jailbroken-android-device/683/), but got stuck when excecuting "/data/local/busybox cp /data/local/busybox /system/xbin/busybox" because of a "Permission denied" error..
Hello to all,
I'm a new Android user that has recently migrated from Windows Mobile 6.1. I have downloaded this FRX06_Full_Bundle_25.3.2011.zip and successfully installed it on my SD Card. This distribution works OK, but there are some minor issues I need to fix. So I need a root access to my phone. And here comes the problem how to do it.
I read several articles over the internet how to root your phone but all of them are about phones where Andoid is installed in the ROM. Moreover - they require USB access to the phone. And I have problems finding the correct USB drives or my phone USB does not work.
So could you point me an article that explains how to root my phone when Android is installed on the SD Card. Is there a way to do it by mounting the SD card on my laptop via the card reader. I want to avoid using the USB port.

Are you trying on Windows or Linux?
Did you install ADB on your pc already?
Did you enable developers access on the android?
I think you need to provide a little bit more info.
Yea, sorry about that.
I'm using Windows 7 64bit. Currently I'm unable to find suitable drivers...
I have enabled the developers access on my phone, but the drivers problem wouldn't let me root my phone using the conventional approach.
So I'm wondering is there any other way to root the phone that does not include the USB port...
The build comes rooted out of the box. There's nothing additional you need to do in order to root.
You should probably read the FAQ if want more info on adb.
adb is not required for root access. Again, FRX06 comes rooted, nothing needs to be done to 'root' this build.
arrrghhh, thanks for the help. Indeed the distribution is rooted by default. I have confirmed this with the terminal application.
I have a problem with the Samba Filesharing (funkyFresh). The app website states states that the telephone is not rooted or Superuser not installed (I have already installed this). That's why I have tried to "root" my phone...

Can u tell me the android version of your phone and os running on your pc..
Meanwhile u can try installing unlock root or kingo app on pc
which tells u about root status of connected device and helps u root it too.
Sent from my Galaxy S4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You could add the adb executable to your app and run adb shell commands as described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20922600/execute-adb-command-from-java-program
The "su" executable does not work on devices which aren't rooted. That would be a way to check whether the device is rooted.
Hi,
Thank you very much. I achieved it by using a simple bash script. When it runs return root success or not.
Many thanks for helps
Dear xdadevelopers,
I have a Huawei Watch running Android Wear 1.3.0.2176821
Now I would like to write my manual network settings on the device in order to persist and make other settings unavailable.
I am able to login using adb shell but now I am a bit overwhelmed how/where to apply my settings?
On Ubuntu, I am setting my custom configuration in
Code:
/etc/network/interfaces
and
Code:
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
which works perfect.
1. How can I login into the Watch as root to work there?
2. Where can I modify my network settings?
If root access does not work:
1. Which other possebilities do I have (maybe a start script, flashing with another Android Wear image, applying network settings in an app which is being installed on the device, etc.)?
Thank you an best,
Marcel

You can root your watch, you know? And it isn't like the Android os where oems usually lock the user form doing that. So it's quite easy, then just run adb shell and then su and badabam
Connect via App
Do you know an option without having to root the device? There is an app out there which makes it possible to connect to WiFi networks directly called "Wear WiFi"

I have it, and I love it. But I'm not sure it can set IP addresses etc.
Hi, I am using Rooted Nexus 6p on latest Nougat 7.1.1 build N4F26J.
Recently I come across a problem after installing IBM Verse, this app requires Activation of Device Administrator for IBM Verse. While doing so, I found that I am unable to activate device administrator. In device administrator settings, I can see the app but no input can be selected and thus I am unable to activate it.
Waiting for some experts to give their advise.
Problem Resolved, the Twilight app was the culprit acting as an overlay and not allowing other app to take control.
