[Q] ComaDose and KillJoy...? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Just wondering if anyone runs ComaDose and/or Killjoy on their Sprint GS4? Just wondering if you actually see a difference and what they do for you? Thanks

Comadose has a better effect on battery life for me. Kill joy made the phone feel smoother. Comoadose is like overkill as far as opening apps and transitions.

Nope only one at a time. And when you are navigating the through the phone , on killjoy it feels more natural with the transitions. and with comadose it is very fast, making the phone feel like it is on crack.

LOL, literally just laughed out loud ahahaha. If you had to chose to only run one of em', which would you chose, and why?
Thanks for the info brotha!

Comadose, just because at the moment I have more experience with it. And battery life has been better. Especially with Blu Kuban ROM. But this week I am going to give killjoy a full week of testing to see how performance and battery is compared to stock.

I was just wondering how you you were able to flash KT kernel on sacs ROM? I'm only getting bootloops whenever I try. What version are you on?
PS. I prefer comadose as well lol.

Scrolling lag

At work right now but my lieutenant just went from an S3 to an M. I was thinking of doing the same. He has been letting me play around with his M and the home screen scrolling lag is ridiculous. Trying to smooth it up a bit with no luck.
All animations are off, installed apex launcher for him, and only have one weather widget on the homescreen. No other widgets any where.
Maybe I'm just too accustomed to jellybean or am I being too critical?
Any advice on speeding this thing up a bit? I'll see if he wants to try an FDR and wipe but not sure if that will fix anything. This is a retail Verizon version and not a dev edition so I fear there may not be much hope.
This isn't to bash the M because it is a nice phone and I love moto phones for their radios and build quality. Maybe the lack of that extra ram the S3 has would really help smooth this phone out. I know ICS never effected my RAZR like this but then again all those ROMs were optimized by devs.
Thanks for any help posted.

I didn't really experience any home screen lag with the M or the i. Did you try rebooting?

I get lag here and there after a couple of days and a restart makes it go away but it take a couple of days for it to start each time.

RAZR M 4G = -106dBm Stock rom
S3 4G = -100dBm paranoid android rom
This is in downtown Chicago in the middle of a concrete prison....ground level with metal all around me. So not too bad on the signal. The same difference I noted at the vzw store on the north side of the city with their demo M and my S3.

There's hope if you are willing to deodex your system. There's a smooth scroll patch you can do to your framework.jar file that i could show you how to do that smooth's things up quite a bit. Ill check back later to see if your willing to...

I would recommend not doing that. The patch proved somewhat successful back in the gingerbread days, but with jellybean and ics you won't notice a difference. However the risk of messing up his operating system is pretty high, if you don't know what you're doing.

Um, I do know what im doing. I would not have offered to help him through it if I didn't know what I was doing. Also, the patch does make a difference. In the Evo 3D forum, the developers build this patch into just about all the roms.
But, in your defense, I have heard some very respected devs say that with JB, the devs have done a lot better of a job with the scrolling so the patch probably would not be noticed. But I did the patch anyways and I notice a big difference IMO.

I've had my M for 5 or 6 months now and have never experienced any lag on the home screen. I am, however, using Apex launcher so that may make a bit of difference. The phone is buttery smooth for me though.
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
I noticed a ton of screen lag when i first loaded the CM10 beta rom dhacker put together. If you go to Settings > Developer Options > (DRAWING) Disable HW Overlays, it will fix the lag when scrolling and such.
Used this phone for two days. Never faced any lag. Have you installed any custom ROM?
You know, I haven't had any lag either. I've used both odex, and deodexed version (deodexed version I patched with the smooth scroll patch) and never experienced any lag until I started messing around with build.prop tweaks...

Nice! That's great to hear. The only think I'd be cautious about is when the dev makes more updates to framework, which could cause some compatibility issues down the road on future versions.
No FC's so far but I will let you all know if I hit any issues since I am just now starting to mess with all the settings. So far changing up colors for battery, clock, and toggles have been working just fine.
Yeah, shouldn't have to port it. It's just: SystemUI.apk & threeminitsettings.apk.
Funny thing is framework-res.apk isn't included in an app called "3 Minute Framework". Lol

Up to you, it's your time you're investing. It looks like if you run aosp theme on xnote they even look the same. I think maybe xnote actually has more features with xnote control. Let the people decide I suppose, but for me it wouldn't be worth the time plus watching 2 threads for basically the same rom.
I have decided not to release this rom. It is not stable on my device and if i need to concentrate efforts to make it run, i would rather put my energy towards my rom that i am building.
I do apologize for the false hope, but i refuse to put something out that does not work as expected. Anyways, thanks for everyones attention!

[Q] I miss CleanRom

I miss CleanRom. For those that had CleanRom and have moved on, what ROM is most like Scott's CleanRom?
Honestly, none ... And I'm not saying that to be mean or "bash" any of the other developers on here. I just don't think there's many out there that strive for a true stock/bare bones ROM. CleanROM was simple, to the point and rock solid and I've personally yet to find it's equal ... I hope someone can prove me wrong.
But with that being said there are a plethora of great options for us out there! I've moved on to Eclipse and am thoroughly enjoying the AOSP look/feel again!

Dang... my phone before the Note 3 was the Gnex. The radio was terrible!!! My Note 3 is perfect though.
BajaROM was nice but i always went back to CleanROM.
Cleanrom and Eclipse was the roms I use to run. Now just Eclipse. Nobody can take a phone and write code for a rom like @nitroglycerine33. Sometimes I think his work is entirely over looked.
The aosp code he puts in his roms is amazing.
Nitro is the real deal.
I ran Eclipse on previous phones.
Loving CleanROM as well
Been swapping between Eclipse and CleanROM over the last few months

Yeah, I really hope LG considers us G2 users, and push out the update for us to get the G3 UI and the features(minus the laser auto focus, because the G2 doesn't have that hardware) that came with the G3.[emoji4]
It would be wrong on their part if they don't push out this update to us, The LG G2 hasn't even been out for a year yet.
