Anyone else experiencing video stutter while trying to stream inside a browser? I've tried chrome, chrome beta, Firefox, and built in browser. Its especially worst for HD video.
It'll also happen in YouTube app on 1080p videos although to a less noticeable degree.
Netflix and play movies seem to perform normal.
Thinking there needs to be some software optimization done in a future patch to address this.
Can anyone else replicate this issue inside a browser ?

Had this issue after rooting my device. I went into both my installed browsers and cleared all cookies, cache and history. Once completed, I did a reset on my device and voila, it's all working fine now. Sometimes I notice a bit of lag but this is when I'm connected via WiFi and I have about 10 other devices connected hence some lag.

No, I bought the phone from a local carrier in Canada called WIND Mobile. They do not support LTE data but a slower 4G speed. I had to ROOT and install a custom Telus ROM then change the regional carrier settings to recognize the Telus ROM. I have not had any issue though and whether a stock ROM or not, I think it's more to do with the application (browser) and how it renders the video playback.
Hope this helps!

Does anyone else's browser force shut while trying to load random sites and close all your tabs? Mine happens quite frequently and has become rather annoying. Also for some rreason it forgot my pw an usernsme for xda and now it don't ask to save, anyone know how to reinitiate that prompt?
Mine occasionally closes as well. Also, my keyboard entry seems to lag like crazy!
WTF?
Trust me the lag on xda app isn't near as bad as it is on xoomforums.com. hoping a simple software update will fix this.

Thats a good point. I have experienced the odd crash of the browser and frankly the ONLY site I have issues browsing is this site (xda). When the site loads the performance of the browser drops off considerably. If I have additional tabs open (to other sites) the browser will fall over. I wonder what it is about this site (especially scrolling the main page) chokes the browser so much. Again, any other site or combo of sites that I normally troll all work fine, fast, stable.

Try and use a different browser. I'm using firefox and I'm not having any issues at all. To reinitiate setting for browser go to settings applications browser clear cache and set to defaults will get it.

I love mozilla anyway
my browser closes all the ttime. Seems to have picked up lately as well. Almost every time I switch tasks the browser crashes and loses all my open tabs
At first, this wasn't really a problem...over that past day or so, it's crashed several time. Last night I was purposely opening up 3-4 normal tabs (cnn, google, facebook, hopstop). It crashed at least 10 times in about 20-25 mins.
This is getting very annoying. I know can use another browser, but come on, I should be able to use the stock browser.
bump. anyone else have this issue? my browser has crashed on me about 10 times today...and of course had to crash as i was demonstrating the device to some apple fanboys and talking about how much cooler it is
I've had maybe one or two crashes since I've had it, but none in the last two days.
i am having some issues with pages not loading properly and where pdf / imagr download that the page does not a sign the file extension to do not load where they did on I pad. I am confident google will fix soon tho.
Since last week whenever I try to play a youtube video either through the internet or the youtube app on my phone I get a message saying
Cannot play video
Sorry this video cannot be played.
Anyone have any ideas how I can solve it?
Almost all youtube videos would play on the phone before.
Hi.
Ive had the same problem. Try on wifi. If it works that mean your network operator has some issues (o2 ireland has some technical probs with all data plans for last 5 weeks for example)

I had the same thing a few weeks ago after playing with my hosts file and some other system files (trying to install swype beta)..but I also couldn't play mp3s or most other audio file formats (which seemed to have a flow on effect to not letting youtube work).
I gave up trying to fault find (logcat wasn't giving much away) and factory reset didn't fix, so restored an earlier full backup in clockwork.

Dunno...lol
I am having a similar problem..only slightly complicated. Not only doesn't youtube work, even my video files can't be viewed. Ringer doesn't work either. However a reboot temporarily solves this problem before it strikes back again. Been doing this for more than the last 10 days..

That sound like what it says,a network prob...
Try going to airplane mode and back, or even just hitting retry a few times works for me.

Yep. Twitter app is the culprit. Quite a few of the latest reviews for it mention the problem.
Don't know if Twitter is aware of the issue but hopefully it'll get fixed.

I also had the issue with not being able to play videos (or mp3s). I have flashed the 2.3.4 JVP rom and the problem has not reoccured even with the twitter app.
I noticed that when I use heavy amount of apps, my browser simply wont work. I use the task manager to kill apps but no go. It just loads a white screen and must do a full restart. I like this tablet with full hdmi but might return it. Anyone else have this issue or fixes? Couldnt find it on search.

Yes, this is a common issue and it is due to incompatabilities between the apps and HC 3.2.1. The mount point was changed for the SDcard. the apps that try to cache to the SDcard are having issues. The browser is one of them. A lot of people are using Dolphin HD. They going into the settings and telling not to cache to the SDcard. It does not eliminate the problem, but seems to make it managable. It will take a change in the apps to fix the issue. Dolphin has a beta out that address this issue.
Thank you!
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Please note that the Dolphin beta does not address the problem. Periodic wiping of the cache is still required to prevent the browser from locking up.
According to the support email I got from Dolphin, the beta 7.2.1 has this issue corrected. And so far as I can tell, it has solved the problem.

Dolphin HD appears to have been fixed for the thrive, so far no lockups. The developers jumped on it and fixed our issue fast.

Everytime I try to start my camera, it won't open and "media scanner running" starts. I can clear data in Media Storage and it corrects the error until I reboot my tab and it starts all over again.
I have tried everything I can think of including switching to every available ROM. The only "permanent" fix I've found is flashing the 3.1 OTA rom.
I'm hoping someone has had this problem and found a solution.

After a few hours the tab rebooted itself and since then video player has been working, no idea what it fixed, but it fixed itself.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
the media scanner can crash if it stumbles on a file with issues (corrupted, wrong file ending etc.)
first thing to try is to delete (backup) all the media files and see if works without them as Alleycat wrote.
teamovercome.net/p7500/?page_id=5 has a good guide at the bottom of that page for restocking. Also there seem to be a lot of problems around weird filenames, last week Kies would not even detect my Tablet until I deleted a bunch of files with strange characters.
I too had the same problem running task's slim 13. Does anyone think that this might be an android virus of some kind?
Edit: I also noticed a process called "root" running superuser permission. My screen would just flash "root has been granted superuser permission" but i would not open any kind of app. Also, when checking superuser I could see root had been granted access several times. Not sure if this is related.
EDIT: Nevermind, it appears the system just needed to scan for media and my sdcard was pretty full so it took a while.
I get that sometimes, to solve it clear cache of Video Player
Thanks
I will try this, I am still having issues with video player for v3.2

Hi,
I finally gave up on this problem and stollped the media scan from running at all - I have not noticed the difference except that the camera and video player now work. I used Rescan Media Root from the Market.
Sinnce I use QuickPic to manage media, I doubt I will suffer from the Media Scanner not operating.
Also using Slim 13.1 and the native Video Player. This issue did not occur with Dice Player, but I like the way the native player handles 5.1 sound
same problem. I am coming from AOKP. Can this be an issue when comming from an ICS ROM as the camera doesn't work there. I did a full wipe/dalvik wipe/cache wipe, why would this still be lingering? Still hasn't fixed itself and I tried the clearing cache under settings > apps. Any other ideas?
I had this when my storage was maxed out, what's the status of your free space?
Same happened to me after switching from ics to hc. The only solution is downloading Rescan media root from market and disabling the media scanner
if you are still in HC 3.2, the easiest way to fix this problem is going to task manager and kill the programs in the ram manager. worked.
After around 30 seconds of any youtube video, the video freezes and the audio continues. I've tried uninstalling updates but the factory version is also the same. So now the app is unusable. Any idea what's happening and what we can do to fix it? Seems a lot of others are facing this issue. I'm unsure if it's a youtube problem or a samsung one...

Have factory reset and it's still happening. I'm on kitkat and tried using both factory version of app and updated version.
Seems to be affecting people with note 3s and s5s
mine did that I updated to newest version and flashed it twice and factory reset twice
Use the nodded version found in xda android apps thread.

Try to use another Internet connection?
E.g if you are using Wifi to watch the video, use 3G or another Wifi connection...
If you are using 3G, try to use Wifi.
Also check if you have enough free storage space available.

Thanks I'll give it a go on 3g although it works ok on my home connection with other devices and it's not a regular buffering issue.

You have another options:
1- Feedback to the Youtube app's author for support to fix the issue.
2- Try another Youtube player apps, e.g FREEdi YouTube Player or Video Tube, and see if the problem still persists.
Possible solution
Unfortunately i had your same problem but in my case a simple reinstallation of the app solved the problem, try with a factory restore
I just made a post about this on the Sprint Galaxy S5 board. What I had to do was disable or turn off the ANT Radio Service, there should be two apps for it if this is your problem as well.

Unfortunately it is not very easy because it has to be turned back on and then it will download and reinstall the updates which takes some time and is very annoying. It might be possible to freeze the apps using titanium backup but I haven't tried this yet.
