[Q] Cannot receive some text messages after flashing CM 10.1.3 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure if I'm posting this is the right place, but I'm having slight issue, it's a bit annoying as well. I flashed Slim Bean on my N4 last week or so. After using it for couple days I noticed that I'm not receiving texts from a bunch of people. So I thought I messed up something while flashing my phone as it was my first time doing it even though everything worked fine and I could send texts. Yesterday, I flashed Cyanogen Mod 10.1.3 thinking that it will fix the issue especially since it's a stable version. But it hasn't.
I googled around a bit but couldn't really find anything. I sent messages from my mom's phone to my phone and I received them immediately, our phones are both on Rogers, one of my friends that I text quite often is also on Rogers and I get all his texts. It seems that I can't receive texts from other carriers. So I have no idea what's going on.
Anyone know what the issue might be or how to fix it? I think it's from flashing a custom ROM onto the phone since it worked before. I was going to call Rogers but I doubt they would help since it's not stock anymore, they'd just tell me it's my fault probably.

Make sure you entered the Roger's APN and save it.

Where do I enter the APN?

System settings/more/mobile networks/access point names

Settings -> More... -> Mobile settings -> Access Point Name
Roger's APN here:http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.po...6681+42&_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=support_results
After you're done entering it, make sure you press the menu button and save the APN and select it.

But people can not connect to my phone when ringing me, keep getting my answer phone.
And i do not recieve any messages sent to my phone.
This problem only happens once that phone has be turned on, for an undetermind length of time.
If i reboot the phone, i get all my messages, and messages telling me i have missed calls.
Its getting a bit of a pain now, i love my phone.
Im running the latest radio for orange 63.18.55.06pu_6.35.15.14
elelinux 7.0 v1.6 android 2.3
and flykernel 12a.
This problem happens with all roms i have tried recently. Sense and non Sense.
Any help would be great
Cheers Steve
Have you checked to see if you APN is configured correctly? I have found that sometimes when flashing the APN is fine while other times it seems to lose the proxy setting.
Have a look at Menu->Settings->Wireless&Networks->MobileNetworks->AccessPointNames. Make sure your APN is correct and selected.
Settings can be found here: http://androidforums.com/hero-support-troubleshooting/45005-mobile-network-apn-settings.html
PS. Don't forget to save after you make any changes.
Thanks for the replay
All settings are correct, i spoke to Orange on Friday, and they said it was a common issue a lot of customers are having at the moment.
He sent me a text message to change my phones internal settings.
Usal thing read dealet switch off for 30 secs.
ITS HAS NOT WORKED.So back on the phone to them later.

receiving sms problem

Okay so its been a few weeks into my relationship with my Samsung Focus.
I bought it off contract from someone on Kijiji. The problem I seem to be having is that sometimes I don't always receive sms messages. My girlfriend (clearly the one I always txt) says she always gets my msgs. As far as I know it just happens randomly...There doesn't seem to be any trends that I notice, it basically just makes up its own mind and chooses not to receive the txt.
I have the Network Profile app installed and it is set to the Rogers network; the carrier I am with. In Settings>cellular my network selection is set to automatic.....and currently i have no APN added.
I've read in the forums before that someone was having sms issues but they seemed to follow a pattern...So im not sure if my situation is the same. Regardless, I'm quite frustrated as I do love the phone....but its turning into a mini tablet because of this loss of functionality I'm experiencing.
Any suggestions?

My issue seems to be different from most.....whenever I reset my phone I never get the txts I missed. I ended up doing a factory reset....started off missing a few sms's but since then its been almost a week and I don't think iv missed one. I think I'm going to try that solution provided in another thread and see how that works.

not receiving any SMS

Hello everyone. I've owned my 6p since it was first released and have used T-Mobile this whole time. Recently I noticed that no one was texting me so I decided to test it out and text myself and I was right . I wasn't receiving any messages. At the time I thought it might have been something to do with me running a custom ROM so I unrooted and went back to stock and still the same thing was happening. I can send messages but nothing comes back to me. I talked to T-Mobile for a few hours. Literally troubleshooting everything on their end and everything was fine. Full service and all. Now I've been looking all over online and have yet to find anything. The frustration is really getting to me. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before? Are there any setting in my 6p that I might need to check out? Please help me guys.
Again. I have full service bars with activated service. I can make calls browse the web and send messages. I'm just not receiving anything. Also I am using stock google messenge
Of the top of my mind, clear google msn cache and data, from configuration> apps> google messenger... also check in hangouts if u have it if the google messenger is the default app for sms..
Once a long time ago, the rom tool box was the default app for sms and instalation of apps, dunno why this happend.. hope it helps, also u can use a third party app for sms and check, or even the hangouts.
good luck.
Could you provide a screen shot of your selected APN?

I contacted T-Mobile and they went through all that with me and my apn was all correct. It's the same apn I've been using the whole time. Also to the guy who said clear cache I fully factory reset the whole phone and re installed every app. I would assume that would clear the cache? It's so frustrating cause everything seems to be working. It's like my phone wants to be stubborn and not receive messages lol
Can you try your SIM card with another phone?
Ok I fixed it. Very weird. I switched to 2g and all texts came through then went back to LTE and continued working
Hey I have the same issue with my OnePlus 3. Stopped receiving sms 3 days ago. I can send sms just fine.
Like note3userr I had rooted my phone, so un-rooted it and did a factory reset, but the issue still persists.
I'm also on Tmobile, my selected APN is T-Mobile US (epc.tmobile.com)
Switched to 2G and back to 4G, as noteuserr suggested. The trick worked for me!
Weird as **** though...

HELP. 6P not receiving texts/BLANK SMSC

To start, I'm on Android 7.0 using the September security patch and am rooted.
Never had an issue with this phone before. Ever since yesterday morning I have not been able to receive anyone's text messages. I'm not sure about MMS but I haven't gotten any of those either. The weird thing is that I can SEND texts just fine....and I can also send text messages to myself and they come through.
After digging and researching I accessed that hidden settings menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* into my dialer and looking at the SMSC number which should be for Tmobile, my provider, +12063130004. However, it's blank and I'm unable to change it. Hitting "update" gives me an "update error" in the field and if I hit refresh I get "+12063130004",145 with the quotes and the 145. If I hit update from there and reboot it's still blank. If I put in +12063130004 and reboot it's still blank.
I have data, I can make and receive calls and surf the web. So far I've tried switching sms apps to no avail. I'm currently using google messenger. I've tried removing the sim and placing it back in. I went in to TWRP wiped cache, dalvich cache and data and it did nothing. Finally I reverted to a nandroid I made about a month ago when sms was working fine and it's still not working.
I'm out of ideas fellas. At my wit's end here!
Oh, I should also let you know that I think this all started when my girlfriend sent me a text message that i received yesterday morning. It was the last text I was able to get......she's on a cruise so she sent it somewhere near mexico....I think it made my phone have a massive brain fart and I'm not sure how to fix this bug. Please help!!
No one? I've found nothing on the web..
This may sound obvious, but have you tried using a factory image to return to stock?
Sounds like you've done everything but that.
I suppose you could also try deleting your APN and manually entering a correct one for your carrier. That's helped me in the past on other devices when I've had weird data/service issues.
Funny you asked. I did a full wipe and returned to stock on the latest November build. Still a no go. People still get my texts and I can still use data/make and receive calls fine. I'll try the APN suggestion now.
As far as APN's go, I tried to reset them to default. I even tried deleting all of them except for the one I was using which in the past for other devices helped with certain issues. I then created a custom APN setting that I found on the 6p forum that helped other users with SMS/MMS issues....no help for me.
I can still send SMS,mms, make and receive phone calls. No idea what to do!!!
I have a similar but different issue. I can receive messages just fine. But sometimes when i send messages id say about 40% of the time my message gets stuck at the "sending" and it takes sometimes up to 10min for it to send. I can speed the process up if i go to the secret menu and toggle the radio off and on.
Im on ATT BTW. I thought it had something to do with ATT shutting down the 2G network and the phone getting confused as to which network to send messages on but im no expert its just a theroy.
PS. I had this problem pop out of nowhere. Had it start randomly on PN6 (last build) so i upgraded to PN7 same thing on 2 different versions of the ROM. And now im on SuperAx 7.1 and still have the issue.
Ive always had problems with Nexus's and messages. When i had the Nexus 5 i actually had to warranty it out because MMS all of a sudden would not work at all.
I received one text today from someone. That's it. Not getting all the missed sms messages and not getting any additional sms messages.

[Help VZ995] - MMS works, SMS not so much (resolved)

[Resolved] I used the Dirty Santa method to root and load TWRP; still on what's left of the factory ROM. So far the only issue I'm having (other than the known quirks) is with SMS. MMS seems to be trucking along w/o problems. SMS was working all day yesterday then it decided to give me the no-service toast message this morning. I've been poking around the forums for solutions, but most of the search results are Sprint-specific. I think it's a PRL/APN issue, but I have to use Shortcut Master Lite to even get a peek at the info. I'm not even sure if I've been in the right areas at that. I fumbled around and got SMS working again a few minutes ago and have no idea what I did or if it'll stick. TIA for any insight the community can give me.
I'd KDZ and get back to stock. If that issues still persists it may be something wrong with your device.
I was afraid someone would say that. Have to go research the process and hope there isn't an OTA lurking about that blocks D.S.
Seems that the SMS connectivity is lost after a reboot. Wish I could figure out what I changed last time that got it working.
About Phone says mobile network is connected as long as wifi is off.
I'm almost ready to revert and root again. Does anyone have a link to the Verizon APN settings? I seem to find references to every other carrier's info except "Big Red"
Edit: Found this in a Pixel forum. ZVW APN Info
So far it seems to have worked and has survived one reboot. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
