Removing CyanogenMod and going back to Stock. Help! - Wildfire General

Hello everyone, I have a HTC Wildfire running on CyanogenMod 7 running Android 2.3.7, and I do not like it at all. I bought this phone, second handed and I found it Cyanogenmodded, it looked cool, but it was SLOW, I have a normal HTC Wildfire running 2.2 which is smooth and fast and does not have any problems. But this Wildfire, is wild-ly slow, and it's not just the slowness but things just keep crashing and I get so many popups, IT'S NOT USEABLE. I need to put it back to stock, Android 2.2. Can anyone help? It's an unlocked phone. Cyanogemod 7 Running Android 2.3.7. ANY help will be super useful. Please!

If it's cm7 stable then yes it's slow, although you can try cm7 nightlies which is way more stable and faster than the one you're on
Also for an custom ROM try my UltraBeam GB
It's the best CM7 for the Buzz

Rempuzzle looks really good, but not want I want! I want the original Android that comes with HTC Buzz! I got an RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680
and I thought I needed this: RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe (This RUU contains HBoot 1.01.0001)! But it keeps on saying 'Your battery is under 30%' even though its like at 70%! Do you know which RUU do I need, please provide a link. Thanks you guys!

Hmm so do you know how to use the RUU?
Make sure your phones on USB debugging mode
after that put the usb from your computer to your phone
and do a reboot after that, then while in the reboot make sure RUU is opened and skip all that, then it'll say that RUU is being installed, please wait for 10 minutes. Although it's quicker than 10 minutes

It's not an RUU problem.
You've did this part wrong.
Make sure your usb debugging is on, although make sure phone is OFF!
Run RUU and skip all the reading, it'll say waiting for device. Quickly on your phone! at the same time RUN RUU and on phone!
It will then show that it worked, then you'd click an option, which is install the RUU
Then wait for 10 mins, then you're done!
Hope this helps

Make sure RUU is running, then on your phone and plug in usb right away. The phone shouldn't boot up. It should just be on the boot animation, then that's when RUU will install, it'll show HTC in black and green.

its Gingerbread tho....what can possibly be modified? i guess if we can get HTC SENSE UI that would be awesome!!
I think it's more possible to get TouchWIZ (Samsung's UI) than the HTC Sence...
cause Nexus S is very similar to Galaxy S...
I also like a lot the HTC Sence and it would be awesome to have it in the Nexus S...
still kinda shocked htc shy'ed away from building the nexus2(s) or w/e they want to call it lol!!

flashed from clockwork rom mgr...twice...and each time, when I try to boot into recovery, it hangs on google screen. flashed back to previous version.
thoughts?
is there a link to download the 3.0 version directly? or a fix for this problem? i love clockwork and greatly appreciate the work, but i've always had problems flashing recoveries directly from the app. i always have to utilize fastboot.
anyways, someone have a dl link for 3.0.0...?

No, that would be absolutely horrible. Sense (and the other skins) are a plague on the Android community, and hopefully Honeycomb eliminates all need for them.
When I try to do a backup it rebooted into the recovery but then it says that it can't mount the SD? Any ideas? (Installed through rom manager premium)

Rooting With The 2.3 O.T.A. Update

For everyone who's been wondering and asking,
As of right now there is NO WAY to root your phone if you accepted the 2.3 Gingerbread OTA update and there is no way to revert back to 2.2.
For all the people who have accepted it, you are stuck with a non-rootable phone until a dev can produce a new root method.
With that being said, temp-root is also NOT available.
Also, flashing anything like a different ROM or a new kernel is NOT possible at this time.
If you accidentally updated or just got the phone from Sprint, you are out of luck for now.
thanks for the info. i have been waiting to update because i suspected as much. For all those that updated to 2.3, is it awesome????
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
How long did it take for 2.2 to be rooted? Hopefully 2.3 should take the same amount of time/less time.

Any more of an explanation than that? ...like the error message you get?
People had to RUU back to an older version of Froyo when the latest update plugged up what was the latest root exploit, and that old RUU always worked without a problem. It would be a shame if HTC/Sprint didn't "allow" people to revert back to the older OS.
I think the error code was error 170 when running the RUU, but I have tried all the ways just like everyone else and none of them work.

I would guess that booting into the bootloader to load the old Froyo RUU would still work. I always thought the RUU was looking for the proper phone, regardless of its firmware/OS versions.
Nope, in order for a ruu to run, the phone has to have the same or older hboot

I wish it was that easy because I forgot how much the GPS sucks on sense roms. Got a trip out of town coming up this weekend also, grrrr.

Really? I always thought Sense was great, but AOSP roms sucked at GPS.
Just used the gps in the 2.3 rom and it worked out great. It was a short distance though so might need more testing fyi
I think the GPS on sense (stock at least) tends to take a little longer to lock on, that's all.
Hopefully this gets rooted soon since I've got to send my current phone back in a couple of days, and it wouldn't surprise me if the new one has the update already

So is this "170" error seen in the RUU program or on the phone itself?
Forgive me if I'm way behind the ball on this: The Froyo RUU contains a "rom.zip" that looks like it could simply be renamed to PG06IMG.zip and flashed from the bootloader.

I don't know bout that error but when I tried twice to ruu my wife's phoneI think the error was 104 bootloader not new enuff something like that.
Well when you run the RUU it goes through all the motions like its going to be successful. Then it reboots into the bootloader and you get the all black HTC screen on your phone while its updating. The RUU on your pc screen is at the part where it says updating your rom image may take 10 minutes etc. Then you get the error [140] Bootloader version error. "The rom update utility cannot update your Android phone, please get the correct ROM update utility and try again."The error [170] is when it doesnt find your phone connected to the usb.
This should be done uploading in about 3 minutes. Rename to PG06IMG.zip, place it in the root of your SD card, and boot up in the bootloader. If it doesn't work, I'll have another to try tomorrow.
BACK UP YOUR DATA/APPS/CONTACTS FIRST (I recommend using Titanium Backup, SMS Backup & Restore, and Call Logs Backup & Restore... and you should be syncing your contacts to a google account)
http://www.4shared.com/file/ADnrxUXB/Stock-Froyo-ROM-1176511.html
I'll give it a try now
Edit: Nope, that doesn't work.
great.
i guess i am stuck with this buggy 2.3 rom until a root solution is found and i can get this crappy rom off my phone. i am tired of the apps not working. locking up & same with the OS.
do the world a favor and steer clear of the RUU 2.3 rom. dont be stuck like the rest of us with a rom we cant do anything with.

[Q] rooted MT4G keeps trying to do Offcial update

How do I get it to stop?
I'm running Ice Glacier V1.1.6 and there was a official software update for the MT4G yesterday, I was dumb and told it to update (which would unroot me) and when it started to update it went into ClockworkMod recovery, I tried to reboot it but it will start and then try to update again and bring me back to recovery. I mounted the SD card and looked around but I could not find the update to delete it so it stops trying. anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks guys, Its been doing this all day and I really wanna use my phone

Maybe flashing a different rom will stop it from trying to update.
But I'm also curious. Doesn't also give you an option to yes continue with the update or not to continue?

what would you recommend for a new ROM? at the time I rooted it (like 5 months ago) everyone was recommending it as the fastest stable one around, haven't really thought about changing it but would like faster one.
and No, If it had the option this would be so much easier haha, It just starts it it's self, It will say "shutting down" then will say it is loading the new update then halfway threw it says it failed to read the signature and will turn on recovery

And to bring it to stock, the stock ROMs are here, just choose 2.2.1 or 2.3.4, then flash in recovery, or rename to PD15IMG.zip and reboot into bootloader, sorry I forgot which one when flashing stock. FLASHING STOCK WILL TAKE AWAY YOUR ROOT! If you want rooted GB, gohere! Good luck!
^^ Thanks. It worked. Now I can install a new ROM. I am having trouble backing up. ROM manager backs up the entire ROM. I just need Settings, SMS and contacts to be backed up. Not ROM

Use TI Backup, it my personal preference, mybackup pro/root. Both are great, choose which one
Sent from my HoneySmartDroid Port using XDA Premium.
I have installed Titanium Premium. It has a very huge list of apps. I only watch SMS, Call Log, Contacts to be backed up and no applications back up. any quick way ?
There is a batch mode you can use.
Click preferences button / batch.
If you use your Google account to manage your contact, no need to backup them.

After I click batch, I see the option backup all system data and all apps. Is this the right option for me ? It will backup all SMS, Call Log etc ?
Yes, It should be ok. I usually backup everything and restore only what I need. If you are not short on disk space, it's easier...

[Q] Unable to boot with new build of albinoman jellybean ROM

Hi all, I'm using the 4/28 build of Albinoman JB ROM. It's great ROM very smooth and stable. Thanks.
I am having trouble with all the subsequent builds. My phone will not boot up with any of the builds after 4/28. I have tried dirty flash and full flash. Nothing works. Can anyone please help?
Thanks.

I don't know if it is HTC Dev unlocked, but it is rooted s-off. I am using CWM 5.0.2.0. Do I have to do HTC Dev unlock if my phone is already rooted?
I have been able to install different ROMs on my phone. I used to have PAC before this.
The phone just hangs on the black screen. It never even gets that starting animation but the charging light is on if plugged in orange/green based on the charge level.
Thanks for your help.

Since I did that long time I don't remember exactly which process did I use but I am sure I used one of the guides from the "Resource Bible" thread. I believe I used the "TRUE PermRoot" guide from there.
BTW...I was finally able to install new PAC build (7/16) today. I was not able to get that to work as well from the last build prior to 7/16.
Thanks.

I will probably try again today with full wipe and see what happens. Please let me know if anyone has any other thoughts.
