Hey, I used to have switching language by sliding space bar option but it's gone now. I have to hit a button instead of sliding. How do I get the sliding back? thx (galaxy s4 i9500 stock rom 4.2.2)
It should be in keyboard options In language and text settings, if its not there use another keyboard which supports all languages ^^

That probably was removed in an update, try resetting your keyboard to stock configurations (uninstall updates). Or try finding someone who still has it and install on your cellphone.
Good luck .

Yes, I've read that swype (enabled) is most likely the culprit.

Bingo, it can be annoying at times. When typing long emails and texts, be sure to go back and proofread what you just typed (good practice anyway). Turning off swype did seem to help a bit.

would make it a software issue then..not hardware =D good to know
I was able to type several paragraphs with all the soft keyboards except for Swype disabled, and I don't have the missing key issue anymore. I simply disabled the Samsung and Android keyboards. I use Swype way too much to disable it.

I use keyboard manager to help with this...
Install keyboard manager along with touchpal from market free (completely).
I have Swype enable and have it set as my portrait keyboard
Then when I switch to landscape keyboard manager services changes my kb to touchpal in a fraction of a second without any interaction.
What awesome about touch pal is that it offers some of the best spelling correction word prediction with our hardware keyboards. Takes a while to get used to but by far is the best solution for me as not only does it fix the random keydrops but it also spell checks and suggests words on the fly.
I was using the Windows Mobile Version for a long time before changing to android, but absolutely love Swype for portrait one handed.
In a previous post I made I pointed out that the lag I found to be software and not hardware... if you long press on many letters you will get a popup instead of repeat keys these seem to be the cause of the drops, after using touchpal, if you long press a letter it quickly repeats.

Trust me I have been using CooTek products for years they are a reputable company... Chinese or not.
PS you could try with another keyboard but I think the key is touchpal, all i can say is if the keyboard your using gets rid of the OS default popup that happens when you long press on a key it should work. I wish there was a dev that could just figure out how to disable this all together as it happens when there are no soft keyboards active,,, I am sure this is the cause to our missed keys try ee or oo in words 7/10 times it will miss if you are fast this is because its trying to determine the length of time the key was pressed to display the box of options.
I can't get keyboard manager to recognize touchpal as an option...any ideas?
NM, have to play with the actual system settings first

Did you guys install the Enhanced Keymaps (read the OP) in Aroma? If so, that key gets mapped to TAB, rather than www/com. Enhanced Keymaps also maps a bunch of other things to unused keys on the keyboard so read up on it.

Currently my favorite keyboard (harcker's keyboard) works, but the right side of the keyboard it cut off by the navbar. Other keyboards like swype have fixed this issue and I imagine it's not that hard to do. If anyone knows of a fix, please share.
But for now, we should all vote for this bug so that Klaus notices it.

Visit the Kinology ROM thread in the 7" Android Development forum and pose the question to the ROM creator psych0phobia. He has fixed the keyboard issue by adding a right side padding code. This may be able to be applied to any keyboard. You'll have to ask.

It's not a generic thing. The AOSP keyboard happens to have side margins in the layout files. Unfortunately, they specify a single value for both sides. I had to hack the .smali a bit to make the value only apply to the right side. (Yes, I probably could have just rebuilt from source with my change, but it was faster for me to just hack it in.)

Is there any way you can release the keyboard as is as an apk? sick of having the p cut off on mine but don't want to jump to Kinology yet as I had a close shave with my KFTT last night, thought I'd bricked the bugger, no file explorer would read the /data folder and i got the red triangle on one boot (didnt persist once i'd rebooted though)
Would be much appreciated.

Hi,
yesterday, I've received an update which I've installed now:
AP,CP: I9505XXUAME2
CSC: I9505VFGAMDC
Since then, the stock email app is acting very weird. When writing text, as soon as you use any punctuation, exclamation mark, question mark... , the cursor goes crazy and jumps around, making weird corrections to text that has been previously written. Even just copy/pasting an URL into empty email and trying to enter new line will have weird, unusable result.
This bug is easy to repeat:
- open stock e-mail app (not gmail!)
- start writing a new email
- write a sentence in a language of yours (I've tried English, as well as my native language that's supported on the phone)
- as soon as you enter any of the following: . ! ? and press enter (new line), the just written sentence will get split in two and some random editing will be applied as well
Anyone else experienced such behavior? I'm on stock firmware, not rooted, stock keyboard.
Not keen to factory reset just yet, as it involves a looooot of re-setting everything
Thanks!
G.
Very similar bug appears on mine too.

Installing Swype keyboard from the Google play solved this problem! It's some kind of bug in SwiftKey, stock keyboard is based on SwiftKey. There's incompatibility between stock keyboard and stock email client.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
At first I thought it was swiftkey causing the issues so then went back to stock and it did the same. The explanation above saying that stock is based on swiftkey may explain why.
I've since installed AquaMail as a stopgap....swiftkey and stock keyboard work as intended with this.
And, to be honest, even though aqua mail was going to be a temp solution, I'm quite, no, very much liking it and will probably continue to use it as my main client.

To wrap it up. There are two solutions:
1. change your keyboard to Swype or anything EXCEPT stock keyboard and SwiftKey
2. change your email client without need to change your keyboard (!!!)
It's an obvious bug that should be fixed in future software releases.
There is a third alternative
3. Disable the auto-correction option on the standard keyboard. The suggestion will stay on, so you can touch the corrected (or predicted) word to change what you typed, but it will not be inserted automatically when you touch only the space bar. Which is not too great a penalty

hi all. just got a nexus 4. coming from tmobile G2. the G2 had embedded swype keyboard which i loved. nexus 4 doesn't have that. so i installed swype app from play store. while this swype is nice, it doesn't automatically remember the words that i type that are not in the swype dictionary (like curses and such). i have to click "add to dictionary" after each word that it doesn't recognize.
the question i have: is there a way to get the "old" swype back or perhaps somehow enable automatic memorization of the words on this one? perhaps anyone has other suggestions for similar keyboards?
thank you

You can make swype automatically remember words.
In swype settings go to My Words -> Change Dictionary Behavior and then choose "Allow swype to automatically add words to my dictionary".

The default Google Keyboard supports swipe to type. It is very similar to Swype although maybe not quite as full featured. I find the stock keyboard works quite well.

Once you paid for it every device you sign on to the play store allows you to download it free. So any device running any ROM linked to you gmail account
And most ROMs here have googles version of swipe built in, works great

Swype and swiftkey have dictionary cloud sync. That's a very nice feature for those who have 2 or more android devices.
i paid 99 cents for it so not too bad of an investment. love the keyboard, but i wish that when i disable automatic correction i would still be able to have it add words automatically. seems like it only does that when the auto correction is enabled.
