from my brief searches in here today, it ain't happening with mf3 right now. you can root it but that is about it. no custom recovery and now roming.
i just got mine today and was sad (came from htc one)

This should have been posted in q&a. A search would have found your answer. But start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42320391

"ROM your device" ? Really ? OK first -you can root, install custom recovery, and install new Roms."ROM your device" as you call it . even on mf3. You obviously don't know a whole lot about what you are trying to do, due to the way you asked and your knowledge of.... So my suggestion is to stay stock download "GO Launcher" or something until you have done ALOT of research. And I do mean ALOT of research. You don't wanna end up with a brick and I'm sure I speak for the rest of us on XDA when I say "we don't need the forum filling up with post / questions on how to unbrick your device that you .."I just wanted to run iOS 7". So with that said good luck and happy reading.

Stock rom for Canadian Virgin Mobile S2

Does anyone know how i can obtain the stock rom that came with my canadian virgin mob s2? I had to root it to unlock it and now that its done, I'd like to have it back on the original rom. Reason for this is to get rid of triangle on boot and have everything on factory settings.

It hasn't been released yet. We're all in same boat in regards to rooting/unlocking.

thats the main reason why I'm running the stock bell rom. I want to be able to return to stock should I need to with ease.
Plus the device is really very good out of the box, I just but ADW EX on for customizing it and that was it.
Thanks for the reply guys. I'm a total noob to this. How would I know if I'm even running a different Rom other than stock? In order to unlock my device I had to root it. Does rooting install a new Rom or does it just give admin privileges?
If I was with Bell then this wouldn't be an issue, though I'd still want my device unlocked. The reason I'm asking is coz that yellow triangle at boot drives me crazy.
Any ideas when the stock Rom will be available?
Thanks for the help.
ps. So far this phone absolutely rocks. Not too crazy with the batter life, but they can't all be perfect can they
Rooting only gives you root privileges, installing a different ROM is a separate endeavour.

Pretty much all you have to know about the Canadian SGS2. To figure out if you have the stock firmware type *#1234# and compare that info to the one provided in the post. There's also a link to a guide to remove the yellow triangle.

And yet you posted in the wrong forum and didn't give us any information to go off (hint, there's a Q&A forum).
So, what did you flash and how, with what options and what messages did you get at all points along the way?
yeah apologies i was in a rush. im rtying to gert it set up and its different from HTC.
i just used the oden and 1 click root. i havent flashed one as of yet because im trying to get CWM bootloader installed on my phone.
so i downloaded the bootloader off the app and flashed it and it said everything was fine. then i tried to reboot into recovery and its just the normal blue samsung bootloader
it said failed installation and it was aborted

Samsung is a bit different from htc, flashed a desire hd of a friend recently and also had to get used to the differences especially in rooting procedure then
The easyiest way to root and get recovery on a samsung galaxy phone is to just flash a custom kernel (e.g. Cf-root) via odin. They come along with cwm already. So actually a lot easier then on a HTC were you have to do two steps
Rom manager doesnt work for me either on galaxy s 2 when it comes to cwm flash.

I had similar "problem" when i came here from HTC I spent good 40 mins by searching XDA on how to get S-OFF untill i gave up and went trough EVERY "how to" thread i could find in SGS2 forums.
After i got everything done, i had good laugh on my self. It's just too easy
BTW i remeber you from Desire Z forums, nice to see you here.

This questions gets asked on a daily basis, flash the cf-root kernel and you'll have your recovery. Look in the dev section for it.

Help, please!

My friend asked me to root his samsung galaxy for him. He doesn't have a sim card in it and it is running 2.2 froyo. I have tons on experience rooting and ROMing my Droid x2 from Verizon and my Acer tablet but I don't know where to begin on this phone. I read the sticky and I've been researching for the past week and have still yet to even get the correct drivers. My friend needs it tommorow, and he already gave me some money to do it for him. If any one, any one at all could link me to the drivers for the phone, and how to root it (prefferebly not through adb) or if you can do it without hooking it up to the computer, I would be eternally greatful! All I need to do is get the phone rooted and get a recovery on there. Somebody please help! Thanks guys!!!

Dude,
Get an Gingerbread Stock version of Gingerbread (see www.sammobile.com) I recommend I9000_JVZ and download-it. then flash-it. You cand find step-by step how on this forum.
After you flash it you can flash wwith odin the proper version fot CF-Root from chain fire (it should be with the same extension _JVZ or _JVT, because it is working just fine).
If you do not fing them send me your mail and I wil upload them for you. All of them.

[Q] Help with some of the basics (root&unroot)

Ok so i know i am a newbie to this sort of thing but i wanted to wrap my head around everything and also specifically to my phone before i decide to do something and the results are permanent.
Firstly ill start off with saying im a Canadian Virgin Mobile customer and i just got the Galaxy S4 (SGH-i337m).
Ok so i want to root my device but i am confused about some of the basic concepts. I saw the tutorial video posted for my specific phone by the smoking android (link for those who havent seen it: youtube. com/watch?v=cI9r5dEcNo4) and i understand that the rooting process is fairly simple.
What i am confused about though is my options once i am a root user and if i ever chose to revert back to original. Lets say i went ahead and rooted my phone. Will i be able to software update through the updates that virgin sends me? also if i am able to then will i maintain root acess?
my second biggest question is lets say for whatever reason i want to go back to the way my phone is now, with the stock virgin firmware. is this possible? and with no trace of the root before (is this the same as achieving original status instead of a custom one)? i know that you can remove the root and then reset the binary counter but im not too sure how all of this works, its a lot to take in at once.
im just trying to clear things up and yes i am quite new to all this (got my s4 yesterday) but i am a quick learner and im just trying to get a grip on everything.
thanks in advance for bearing with me

if you flash back to stock, modem and kernel will be included.

[Q] Trying to flash back to factory ATT GS4 4.3

1. I am going to trade my GS4 for the Note 3.
2. The person I am trading does not want it rooted.
I rooted it and then someone asked if i wanted to trade because they want a s4 again. So i only rooted it and never installed a stock rom.
I am trying to get it back to factory original firmware etc.
I have looked high and low for the firmware so that i can flash it back with odin, to stock but i have had no luck in finding it yet.
( Have the just not released it yet?)
These are my specs if someone can help me as i would like to have the note 3.
This is a AT&T phone in the US
Model# SAMSUNG SGH-I337
BASEBAND VERSION: I337UCUEMK2
KERNEL VERSION: 3.4.0-1921628
BUILD# JSS15J.I337UCUEMK2
SELinux status: Enforcing SEPF_SAMSUNG-SGH-I337_4.3_0010
Just use the unroot option in supersu.
I had tried that and it still has the unlocked icon and all the original stuff like the weather widget with clock and others do not show up and he don't like it.

well i tried the i337MK2stockrecovery.tar, and I337MK2Boot.tar
no luck but i really appreciate your help. I probably done something wrong. Anyway i hate bothering people to much so i will just wait it out and see if i can eventually find the full stock firmware for this beast.
If i do find the full stock firmware for 4.3 and run it thru Odin, it should work correct?

Well I think it all went good guys!
It sure takes some time and concentration, which is hard on my part with the wife and kids saying do this and do that.lol
I tell you what thought you guys are very smart and very good people to help others that you do not know. I would buy you a beer but we are probably a long ways away, so i will go get some and drink a few for you all.
Anyway thanks.
There are one more questions that i have before i put my sim card back in and get started again.
1. Will the unlock icon go away, the one that still says custom.
NEVER MIND I WENT AHEAD AND STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND IT WAS GONE WHEN I BOOTED.
