Help with full backup - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to root my Nexus 4. I got the tool for it (which seems to have a backup feature) but I was wondering what the best thing to do is so I can get my phone exactly the way it was before I rooted and cleared the data without too much trouble. Again I want to have everything back including the apps, SMS, pictures, app data.
Thanks!

Carbon will back up apps and app data (does NOT require root), Google takes care of the settings. As for pictures, just attach them to a computer via USB and copy them over.

Thanks! Anything for SMS Backup? I've found a few apps but what is commonly used?

The app i mentioned in my first post also backups SMS and contacts.
I usually use Super Backup : SMS & Contacts it works great to backup contacts / sms / call logs / Bookmarks / Calendars. By default it backups to the internal storage. Just copy those files to your computer. After you finish rooting/unlocking, copy back the files to your phone and restore it using the same app.

Just wondering what is the fastest or easiest method to completely copy over everything from one vibrant to another as I just got my replacement today. I would love to copy all my apps and settings. Also will I lose all the apps I purchased? Thanks!!

No ideas? I guess I'll just start doing it the old fashion way lol
Your contacts, calendar should be synced to gmail already. Try using mybackup pro or titanium backup for things like app data but I believe you still have to download the apps to your phone again. Purchased apps are saved to your purchase history via gmail

If your are rooted use Titanium Back up. MyBackup Pro is good for things like text.

Backing up text messages when switching phones

Is there any way to back up and restore my messages, contacts, call log, etc. while switching from my epic to my nexus s?

My backup pro will back up this to your sd card or to you account online

Titanium Backup should be able to handle it.
I am sure there are free apps out there but this one syncs all of this onto your gmail and will allow you to download onto your nexus:

+1 on smsbackup.
I use a app called Super Backup. It backups call logs, text messages, and contacts to your sd card. Then use titanium backup for my apps.

+1 on SMS Backup. Its the best for our phones. Another cool thing is that it stores eveything in that html file. You can pull it to your desktop and edit in text that never happen. Then restore it. Hehehe.

Titanium Backup on N4

I back up my apps on a daily basis, and the backup folder is in my N4. Is there a way in Titanium Backup (pro version) that whenever the scheduled back up is complete, it will upload it to one of my cloud services? And from there on, continue to backup to my Dropbox and replace the old data with the new data?

Hmm I know you can sync backups with cloud services through TiB however I've never used it..
Yes in titanium, go to the menu in the upper left corner, preferences and cloud sync settings you'll see drop box.

Schedules and set it up
For backups put single (1) if you want to keep only 1

[Q] Best Backup Solution

So i've been searching Google and xda this afternoon to try and determine what the best backup process would be for me.
Currently I use TitaniumBackup Pro to backup apps and app data to Google Drive but I would like to also setup a scheduled backup of my photos to Google Drive or Dropbox but not sure which app can do this successfully.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I don't want to use the auto upload feature from Dropbox as sometimes I may save and image to my phone that doesn't need to be uploaded etc..

Transferring text messages from old s4 to new s4

My son cracked my fiances S4 so i purchased her a new one off CL. Its been a while since i toyed with the S4 so i was hoping someone could tell me the easiest way to transfer her old text messages from her old S4 to her new. With htc i use the htc transfer tool which basically allows you to transfer pictures, music, photos, videos, settings, bookmarks and messages all over wifi. I know the pics and music should be able to be sent via NFC. Can i send text with NFC? If not whats the easiest way

Try out Samsung app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.easyMover
I haven't used this, but the description seems to indicate that it will support messages

I use SMS Backup + for saving / restoring text messages when I am switching ROMS... Works pretty good. It creates a folder in you Gmail account and stores them there so you can read them on-line too if needed.

+1 for SMS Backup +. Works great and simple.
However
IF you Titanium BackupRoot Pro. That can backup and restore texts, mms, phone logs et. al.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore sms backup and restore. Go into settings and change the default storage from phone to sd card. It will not back up pictures or videos or audio. You should save any mms attachments and move them from the phone (where messaging program saves by default) to the sd card. Excellent program.
