hello everyone
i recently decided to buy the galaxy note 3 but now i am having to make a decision between the two variants.
i have to options at the moment:
option 1: buy the note 3 (octa-core) from my country which will cost me about 900$
option 2: buy the note 3 (snapdragon800) from another country which will cost about 800$ including the shipping costs, and of course, there will be no warranty for this option and it might be region locked.
so the i have some questions which will hopefully make the decision easier.
Q1: which one is faster and doesn't lag?
Q2: which one will have better development support?
Q3: which one will be easier to be modded? knowing that knox is on the way of doing so.
sorry for the long post.
thanks in advance

thank you for your reply, I've already watched the video but there was nothing mentioned about the lag.
thank you anyway, i guess that i am going with the snapdragon one as i was exploring the android dev section of the forum and found that the sd have more support.
i have 3g and it doesn't lag and i am sure 4g doesn't lag too.
imo 4g will have better development support
better development support means better modding

Hey guys, a buddy of mine bought a Rose Gold Note 3 while he was in Korea and now is selling it. I am thinking about buying it off of him even though it is not compatible with LTE here in Canada.
My main concern though is if the phone can be rooted and if there is a variety of Roms that can be put on it. I base my buying decision on this with every phone I get.
Is this phone considered different to the development community than say an American Note 3? Will this cause a seperation in the Rom development?
The phone runs a Snapdragon 800 and not the Exynos.
Thanks a ton guys!
ps. Would you get this phone over the M8?
What is the model of the phone? For example the international version is called SM-N9005, please answer this so we can help you out

Take a look here if you want it rooted/custom ROM'd/modded. This is the main thread for Korean Note 3s. I'm pretty sure if he didn't update it often you can still use towelroot.

I wouldn't even get a Note 3 at this point dude. Wait for the new Nexus or Note 4....
I am buying a used note 3 off ebay from a seller with 200k feedback. Do you think this is a good idea?
What are the pros and cons of buying it? It is listed as an A or excellent on a scale of A-F.
Since the note 3 itself is less than a year old, would I be able to take advantage of the warranty through samsung or no?
Anything to look for when I received it? If its bad I can just spend like $150 more for a new one off ebay.
EDIT: sorry its a question its my first time here, can mod please move thanks.
This is NOT the q&a forum, but with the note 4 out in sept. The price should be right, or wait and spend some big bucks on new.
I bought used one, seller lived close to me (few kilometers). Got to check the phone before the real deal, no regrets so far.
I have bought from eBay in the past when in didn't have the cash for brand new. The key is just to your research, make sure its the model your after, is it n9005 or n9008? For example. Find out if Knox has been triggered on it etc. And if After all your questions your still not 100% sure then save up and buy new, least that way there is no chance of disappointment. And like #someguyfromhell said, local is always better.

Do you know how I can take advantage of the samsung warranty? Like how can I get it replaced with a samsung refurb or a new one? Any methods?
2nd hand is fine as long as the condition is still good but would advise to do COD so you can check on the spot, especially with so many china made imitations around.

I think I can easily tell if its a fake chinese one.
But would you justify spending 50$ more for a brand new one with an SD card problem, BUT it has warranty so it can most likely be repaired, but I would have to wait 10 days for that.
I'd get the LG G3 (32gb) if I didn't have my Note 3 lol

Hey everyone,
Looking for a phone for around 150 UK pounds with a big display, good camera and long screen on time
Heard the note 3 would suit me
Is it still getting updated? Big dev support still?
How's the Camera?
What to look for in 2nd hand phones
Are the repairs on the display cheap?
Is it worth buying a cracked display cheaper and getting it fixed?
Is the upgrade to note 4 worth it?????
Sorry loads of questions
Coming from an meizu mx5 very poor support sot of around 4 hours and camera Isnt great poor support again from meizu

I just bought one for my wife. I have one too and they are great.
It cost me about £220 second hand. The note 4 is considerably more and not £100+ better. So sick with the note 3. Camera is 13 mega pixel and more than just adequate.
I don't really care what the Samsung support is, I put custom roms on both phones so they think they are note 5's. The support on xda is all you need. Get a decent case and screen protector and it'll last.
If you can get it for a price you want them go for it. Still a great phone.

Whats roms are good for battery life
Well. I'm using the phronensis rom, which, despite its silly name is pretty dammed good. But have a look around, the thread titles will usually say if they are geared for performance or battery life (or both).
If you're new to rooting and installing custom roms then I'd recommend the all in one tool kit by skipsoft. Just search 'xda skipsoft' in Google. It pretty much does it all for you (or at least it holds your hand through the process). Just make sure that what you tell it is correct and toy should be good to go.
And be careful. I always read the last few comments in a thread to see what bugs have been reported and if the rom is still being updated. Wouldn't hurt to look up a tutorial on YouTube either.
Send me a private message if you'd like a phone chat about it
Would suggest flashing Lean or Idle kernel for good battery life.
Thanks guys
Going to buy a note three tonight for 140 pounds
Is there two different cpus which one would benefit me better.
Also it's locked down To ee is there a sim unlock tool/app
Or is it something I have to buy on the bay

Buy it unlocked, otherwise unlock codes from EE will cost you. And there are no such tools.
And very likely you're looking at SM-N9005, the Snapdragon version. There's a tiny chance you might have happened upon N900, the Exynos version that has no 4G support. The performance of the two variants is identical.
Thank you , the price for an unlocked note is alot more expensive than the ee branded ohone

For me after trying a lot of roms the better battery life have got is with this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-qs-n9005-lp-t3037655
right gents,
i am now a proud owner of a note 3 unlock, running stock lolipop atm 5.0 going to root and start trying a rom,
paid £160 got an extra 3 batteries plus official samsung box, and samsung usb 3.0 extra battery charger...
and Armoured Case,
Slight marks on left hand side of casing, does not affect screen
i have another case, glass screen coming tomorrow also!
Thanks guys, very happy
cant believe how big it is im coming from a 5.5 inch phone also
Picked one up for $35 as a back up and to flash roms, best amount of money I've ever spent on a Android device!
For a phone this old it still kicks ass.

Phronesis (Ancient Greek: φρόνησις) is a word used in the ancient greek and means "wisdom" or "intelligence", common theme in philosophical debates. As you can see, this word can be anything but silly my friend
Thanks for the translation of the name but got to agree does sound odd, not yet flashed but does look absolutely beautiful.
35 dollars wow bargain that's just over 20 pounds in the UK.
Are the phones capable of fast charging only seems to be charging at 1200mah on all my chargers even the fast charge 2.0 charger I have

Alright this may be kind of a dumb question and I apologise if it's not in the correct spot/has already been answered but I currently have a oneplus 5t and I want to move to the s9 when it comes out. I am a huge themer and I love to root/unlock bootloader/install custom roms. Based on what I read it seems that exynos version of Galaxy phones are a lot easier to tinker with compared to snapdragon. Id assume if the s8 exynos works in the US so will the s9. Can anyone confirm this or let me know? I have at&t. Thank you.
Yes, it should work. I don't think I heard anyone mention the opposite. So it should work without any issues.
I have an Exynos Galaxy S8 Duos (SM-G950FD) and I use it with T-Mobile here in Arizona. I haven't had any problems with carrier compatibility, 4G/4G+ works like a charm.
Thanks guys!
I went from 6P, to Pixel XL, to SM-G955F(S8+) on T-Mobile here in Idaho. The signal is great, and I dont have any problems. The S8 is much easier to flash stuff on and modify than the Pixel was, and its working fine here in Idaho. I made the move to Samsung in September.

Is yours the international version? Or does it have exynos processor? Sorry I don't know the model numbers. Is exynos generally easier to root and unlock bootloader for compared to snapdragon?
Mine is international, purchased from Clove in the UK. Exynos is best if you want to do any modding on your phone. Root, flashing, etc. are all very simple with Exynos. To my knowledge the Snapdragon variants cannot be bootloader unlocked, so very limited on what you can do.

I assume you have to buy a separate charger then as their plugs are different over there? I assume the pins on the micro USB are still the same?

It uses usb C which I've got a couple cables already. So yeah you could probably buy an adapter or buy a charger if you didn't already have one.

Yikes. And do I have to pay for a region unlock or??? Idk how that all works.
I think the only thing lacking on the Exynos S8 is Band 30 which probably doesn't really matter for most people, as it's so new and of limited deployment/use.
