Dear all, I decided to open a new thread to discuss modem upgrading difficulty. Now I'm trying to move from MJ1 to MJ2, but no way to get the upgrade, trying all the methods suggested in the modem collection section. I thought that the problem was related to Macbook Pro USB ports, cause moving to a PC I was able to upgrade from MI6 to Mj1, but now no way to repeat successfully the procedure with the new upgrade.
Any other of you does have the same problem? Has any one solved for instance with root method?
Thanks in advance for your help.
So I have to think that I'm the only one with this problem...
Where is the modem collection you are referring to? How did you get from MI6 to MJ1?

In general thread there is a thread by Djembey with different modems. For MJ2 I extracted it from the stock ROM. I got from MI6 to Mj1 with a Windows PC, but it's impossible for me at the moment to reply successfully the flashing procedure from Mj1 to Mj2.
Upgrade: tried without success terminal emulator method:
dd if=NON-HLOS.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
dd if=modem.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
reboot
I think I have to bring also my second note 3 to the service.
EDIT: solved thanks to suggestion from Iamnoone (thanks a lot again, you're very kind): if you have problems in flashing modems, you have to take battery out and unplug usb, put battery in, Hold vol down and home, Plug usb in: Phone shoulg go to odin mode and you're able to flash modems. For me it worked from MJ1 to MJ2.

Hi all,
I was wondering how do you downgrade firmware for the Note 3? I have Odin 3.09 and I downloaded the firmware from SamMobile.
Does the file being flashed have to go AP/CSC slot or both? Or some other slot? I don't see a PDA slot in odin, which was used before.
For the record I want to go from N900W8OYABMJ4 to N900W8OYABMJ1 because I was unable to root MJ4 using the designgears universal root de la vega method. So I thought I would try my luck with rooting on MJ1.
Thanks!

You have to put it in AP, but: It's NOT POSSIBLE TO DOWNGRADE anymore with the latest firmwares!

What do you consider "latest firmwares"??
I downgraded from N9005XXUBMJ1 to N9005XXUBMI7 just fine.

Yes but MJ3 and above have new bootloaders... You CAN'T use older firmware on your phone that doesn't have the new bootloaders as it just bootloops....
You also can't use Kies3 to do emergency firmware recovery if you have flashed another region firmware and your region hasn't been updated to the new firmware.
It is also root protected, RDLV is reported as not working on MJ6 and above, and any other method triggers warranty void to 0x1...

Simply download the firmware from Samsung-Updates and flash it using Odin. The AP refers to PDA, this is where you will put the .tar.md5 file. I hope this works. Good Luck

That happens when you try to vega on a 64 bits Windows system. You can either try to execute the script on a 32 bits Windows machine or install cygwin 64 and use that (search for my posts in the universal root de la vega (locked) thread in the 'original android development'. BUT: as stated above: if you have the new bootloader already, flashing the generated VEGA file will NOT work!

I am having GPS issues and am already on 4.4.2 can I fix with Stock
Plz excuse the noob but here is my issue
I was kinda thinking I need to go back as well. I updated to 4.4 and then to 4.4.2 using Cyanogen but I have some sort of GPS issue it doesn't work at all. When I first got the phone no issue at all with GPS somewhere after my first custom ROM was where I noticed the issue. I have read that this has happened with other S4/Note3 phones before. The suggestion was to go back to stock then try different ROM but I can no longer go back to 4.3 from what I am reading. Will a 4.4.2 stockish ROM fix my GPS issue I guess or am I now stuck with a none working GPS forever?
I tried to test the GPS using some of the tools for GPS from the playstore all came up that the phone was finding no satellites
Also I downloaded the NAB but it is in Zip form how do I get it extract to the appropriate .tar in order to run through ODIN? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Before flashing back to stock, try changing your GPS profile to match the closest one to your location.

I did try that the GPS app tool I used had me select the region and such to narrow the search and speed things up finding satellites but to no help. Still came back no sights found.

Kies 3 restore doesn't work.... It's incompatible with the new bootloaders... Wish people would stop giving oout this USELESS information...
If you were on any of the N**(NB4) roms ie Kitkat, you can't go back to the older jellybean roms ie m**(MJ7).
You will have this problem. Just reflash a kitkat rom onto your Note 3 and you'll be fine...

Hi all,
Allow me to apologise for my, likely, n00b question but I'm not confident with this process yet and do not wish to brick my phone!
I have Darklord Note 5 port installed and am encountering the "Video Recording failed" error. It's my understanding that this issue is caused by being on an older firmware and that the fix is to install the latest one.
I have downloaded the 3 files linked to from the main post.
CP.......tar.md5 and BL......tar.md5 seem pretty obvious where to put them in odin but there is a BB-BL-N9005XXUGBOI8.rar as well. I am unsure what to do with this file.
I have searched briefly but I'm at work at the moment. Could anyone point me in the right direction or show me where I should be looking for this, please.
Many thanks in advance!

Just flash CP and BL. Don't flash kernel and .rar.
Link the CP and BL to the corresponding tab in odin. Find odin first and you'll see how to put them.

Hi guys
I have run into little problem that I'm hoping learned members here can help me with.
I have a Note 3 SM-9005 that was running Kitkat 4.4.2 and I got it updated to 5.0 from a mobile repair guy. Everything looked smooth until I got home and noticed that now the WiFi does not work anymore. It always stays greyed out and never turns on.
I have tried turning on download booster, smartswitch, nothing helps. I have wiped cache, wipe data / factory reset but that's of no help.
Can you please help me get my WiFi working again.
Many thanks.
Cheers

Would it be compatible with my phone which has a UAE version installed currently?
Ok just checked. It looks to be the Phillipines/Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand version. With some of them branded. Not sure which one I should be picking up?
The stock ROM may be slightly different for each country but you can try the latest Singapore version.

Will it trip Knox? As I would be putting a SIN firmware on a XSI (UAE) handset?
Flashing a stock rom will not trip Knox.
Personally, unless there is warranty left on the phone, I wouldn't worry about tripping the Knox counter.

I have also just noticed that the WiFi hotspot (tethering) doesn't work either.
I downloaded the latest XSI (UAE) firmware and installed it using Odin. But the problem still persists.
Should I try downloading and installing a Singapore firmware?
Is there a possibility that this phone is actually a carrier branded phone and was later debranded and that's why it's having this problem?
Please help life is difficult without Wifi
Does Bluetooth work? It's possible that the phone has a defective wifi chip. I have two galaxy s4 phones that have dead wifi chips but everything else works.
You can try flashinga another country's firmware but not sure if that will help.
Do you have a backup of the efs folder?

Yes the bluetooth works.
The phone's WiFi was working fine before being updated to Lollipop.
No I got it updated from a phone repair guy before I got my hands dirty and put the new firmware my self. So no efs folder backup, unfortunately.
Hmm without knowing what the repair person did to the phone or how the update was performed, it's possible something went wrong during the flash process. Does the phone show the correct imei and MAC address?

He did it in front of me and from memory I can tell that he took a firmware file and used a software (probably Odin) to flash it in download mode.
The phone does show the correct IMEI as written under the battery spot and in device info does show a WiFi mac addresd however I'm unsure how to verify if that may be the correct one.
I have browsed Google and found few other people's posts on different forums who have this exact same problem. Someone suggested that I should reflash the firmware with bootloader checked using Odin.
Do you think it may be of help?
I have just discovered that the serial number on the back of the phone under battery is different from what is reported by the device.
Does this give any hint to what may be the issue?
I made these ODIN Flashable Firmware and Modem files for myself. And figured I'd share them here for anyone wanting to upgrade their phone without having to download the entire ROM!
**** Warning!!! FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! XDA or I am not Responsible for ANY Destruction!! ****
Install Directions:
The procedure I use to install these is, In Odin Untick 'AutoReboot', then load Modem file into AP slot, Flash! When complete, Pull battery for 5 sec. Then REBOOT into Download Mode Again.
Then in Odin, load Firmware file into AP slot, Flash! When Complete, REBOOT!
Done!

Im a little unsure about your question, so ill try to answer best I can.
Yes this can be flashed with any rom, rom doesnt matter, this is flashed in Odin! It updates your Bootloader and Modem! BUT you must pay attention to what your ROM states. Some ROMS dont work Good with certain Firmware.
About the baseband, This would update it.
Since Im new to the N910T model, Im unsure about the downgrade procedure. So You might want to check that your model can be downgraded back to DOK2 once you update. Just in case your rom dont play nice with new Firmware!!
Hope this answered your question! I added install directions to OP

I would highly recommend you start a new thread for this, there are many reasons why a phone could be doing this and you need
to provide more information, like what happened before the phone was restarted, did you have a stock rom or a custom rom, were you trying to flash anything when it started restating, were you rooted, can you boot into recovery or download mode...all these things factor but like I said I would definitively start a new thread because your hijacking someone Else's and it has nothing to do with the topic.

Yes bud, you'd get better responses making your own post in question area. As I'm not on here a lot. And only people visiting this thread are few to download this link. I just seen your post.
But since I am here I'll try my best to answer you.
Judging by your post, I'm gonna assume your were on pure stock and took an Ota that went bad? Correct?
2. If you used Odin, and noticed you didn't mention getting errors.
So it leads me to ask are you using this firmware here, because this isn't the complete rom. And that's what you want!
Let me know if this is correct? Plus explain more detail? Model T or T3? Last update you were on and file you tried flashing?
And I'll help you get correct file and such.
EQE2 Modem only on DOK2 base 5.1.1 Rom?
Anyone flash just the Modem as per my title over top a Lollipop build and get any better reception or otherwise results or is this a big no go?

Think u' re wrong, you've said to flash bootloader in AP slot (i knew in BL). Modem baseband is CP. AP is for recovery.
