Hi all,
I just picked up my D803 (Rogers) today and noticed the massive amount of bloatware on here. Does anyone have a solid ROM built yet for the D803 that'll clean this up and optimize things for me?
Also, sorry if this is the wrong subforum to place this in. I didn't think placing it in the Android Dev forum was appropriate as I thought that was just for ROM devs to post their stuff.

Not sure if D802 ROM's work for our Canadian carrier D803 device but you can disable most of the bloat, which I did. Running stock ROM with bloat disabled has been great so far.

I can? How? Do I need to root to disable most of that bloatware? I've bricked a device in the past and don't want to go through that again, so I'm very hesitant to load any firmware that isn't specified to D803.
Go with the Bell version of Clean ROM. All Canadian phones are D803. It has much less bloat. The rest you can deal with, with apps such as Titanium. You can also deactivate most of the apps from the app menu.

If you can get me the build.prop and boot.img from D803 I can convert my clean ROM for you. Are you can try to flash the international version for the 802

I would be happy to, but as I'm new to all this, I need a hand figuring out how I even go about finding those files to send you. I've yet to even root my phone. Do I need to do that first and then open a file explorer?

If you have rooted your phone by now… Which I imagine you have…
…you can just get ES File Explorer (free) from the Play Store, browse over to /system/ and "share" the file called build.prop to yourself.
Send it to your pc somehow (email, dropbox, whatever). Open it in notepad or textedit or a plain text editor of some variety. (you can even rename the file build.txt to make it easy to open.) Copy the contents of the text file and paste them at Pastebin come back to this thread and post the address for it on pastebin.
It would be awesome to get a clean rom for the Canadian version of the LG-G2. Also, I have been looking for days for the rogers build.prop as well.

Hello,
Is this thread still active?
I just pasted my G2 Rogers' KitKat D803B20F at http://pastebin.com/MKTHQdhS. Could somebody help create a clean ROM for a Canadian G2?
P.S.: Oops, how to get/extract boot.img from my G2?

Did you copy the zip from /cache - and check it out?
A patch file (eg: market.p)? Or the full apk? Does it touch anything else? What build is listed in Settings > About ?
Just unrooted - reverted to pure stock - updated to 55D - rerooted - rebuilt my framework - yadda yadda - on Sunday. Hope I don't need to go through all that again..
how do copy it and view the files? it's downloaded, i just haven't installed it
i haven't rooted yet so i don't have all the options of root file explorer at the momment.
Just got this as well, not sure what it changed.

Install a File Manager if you dont already have one and check /cache.
Since you aren't rooted you may not be able to see it. Check anyway. If you can, use the file manager to copy it to your sdcard and please upload it for us.

That's what we'd like to know. If you're rooted, copy the .zip file from /cache to a handy location or your PC and explore inside the zip.
The update is first downloaded to /cache. A long name with HTK75D somewhere and ending in .zip.
Is there a /patch folder in the zip? All the files in that branch are patched by the updater. The files must be the latest stock version to get patched.
Is there a /system and/or /recovery folder in the zip? All the files in those branches get copied - and older ones on the Xoom are overwritten.
Drill down the /META-INF branch all the way. You'll find "updater-script". This is the command file which guides the whole update process - and tells us everything it is doing.
If there is a bootloader.bin file in the zip's root - we'll be flashed a new bootloader - which could break custom kernels and usually generates some apprehension (guilty until proven innocent).

I've never checked, but for those who aren't rooted, the filename might be logged. Could anyone who recently downloaded the update (but hasn't installed/rebooted yet) check LogCat to see if the filename is there? It should look something like this:
############.signed-tervigon-HTK75D-from-HTK55D.########
(pound signs represent hexadecimal digits)
If it's there, then this might help others manually download the update from the OTA site:
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/motorola_tervigon/<update package filename>
(I think )
Thanks!

S'all right. 55s a benign update - we're still not sure what it fixed (or broke). If you are still stock - though rooted - use Stachre's update method in the dev section. Then you'll be ready for 75.
yeah 55 was the update from a week ago, google is dropping another one on us.

Where does the APK file need to go, do you need to run the APK, and what permissions need to be used??
Thank you
Just wondering does anyone have any more info on this??
Has anyone got this to work on a Verizon Phone ??
Might there need to be a second file to go with this??
Also it is not clear where to put the file and or if people should run the APK once the have it on the phone.
Thank you
It doesnt work like that guys, you cant just install it.It goes along with more than one file ( i think 3..) and there is work to be done possibly from a developer,in order for the phone to recognize it.

This. Works perfectly for Sprint LS980 - not sure about other carriers.
NextRadio only lists compatibility with some Sprint phones. I don't know if OP can somehow sideload it to make it work.
Any way to install the radio APK?

Hello,
First I am having to post here because I can't POST in the actual forum at this time. Can someone tell me why I am unable to install some factory and nonfactory apps in custom ROM builds? If this has to do with ODEX and DEODEX can someone tell me how to see if an app is OD or DEOD? Is it possible in a simple way to DEOD an app? Thanks, as I am hoping to get QuickTranslator working in Malladus.

it's not that easy
- you can't install them because they are odexed
- if the apk contains a classes.dex file it's deodexed and you can install it
- you can deodex them with some tools and the stock rom framework (use google)
- most apps won't work on custom roms because they have special dependencies and stuff...

Malladus has on his list of downloads where you got the Rom from is a file called LG Apps, you would flash this as then get all the LG Apps that have been removed. If you want only LG Quick Translator which by the way is in the file or any other LG App in the zip file, open the zip file in say 7Zip and go to System / App and then delete each program you do not want to install. Place the remaining zip file on your phone and flash from recovery. Easy and done.
I am a complete noob. I was trying to follow an online guide to make my note 3 look like a S5 and this required me to copy a new secsettings.apk file and delete the original secsettings.odex file. This didn't work out so I wanted to revert to the original file which I made a copy of. However I no longer have the odex file and I can't enter my phone's settings at all. I just need the odex file mentioned to go back. If someone can post it I would be very much obliged. I'm running ms-n900w8 4.4.2.

***PLEASE DO NOT REPLY IN THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU ARE WORKING ON A ROM. THANK YOU***https://plus.google.com/share?url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpong-root-rom-workshop-thread-t3104639
If you have any questions, please send me a PM.
Due to my limited bandwidth and slow connection to oversea download sites, it takes too long to get new ROM scanned and supported. I need volunteers with knowledge of Odin tarballs and ROM zip packages to help me extracting "useful" part out of the ROM and upload them to speed up the process. Thank you for making this tool better
How to get involved:
1. You need to know how to extract boot.img and system partition files from Odin tarball and recovery flash-able ZIP packages.
2. Pick one of the ROM from the pending list. Please search in thread first to see if anyone is already working on it (and not yet failed). I'll also maintain the list regularly.
3. Search for this ROM on SamMobile or other sources. If you can find it, please reply in this thread in form of "WIP ROM version" so others will know.
4. Download the ROM, extract following pieces:
- boot.img
- /system/build.prop
5. Create a zip file named ROM_version.zip, containing boot.img and build.prop (inside system folder please), and upload it to a mediafire/mega share:
***remove the account, seems it never works***
6. Once done, please update the reply with "DONE ROM version". For any reason it failed or you can't continue, just replace it with "deleted".
