Hey all,
Just switched over to hellscore from faux to see if it had any impact on my battery, but it doesn't appear to. I'm currently on the latest PA nightly and using Aviate. I think part of the issue is Skype not closing properly, but I've lost 8% battery in 1 1/2 hours with only 10 minutes of SOT. Please see screen shots below.

Hello-
Ever since I updated to 4.2 and especially 4.2.1, battery life has not been the same. Today I went from 100% last night to 73% in 22 hours just in standby. I didn't change any settings that I can remember. Can anyone please help with this?
Thanks,
wws12

I had the same battery issues on 4.2 in standby...even with wifi disabled. I ended up flashing back to 4.1.2 and battery is back to normal. To me 4.1.2 is more stable and much smoother. Hopefully Google will fix these issues in the next update.

I noticed that a large portion of the battery is being used by something called "Media server" Any idea what that is or how to turn it off?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'm also noticing the same sleep mode battery drain on 4.2.1,around 1% per hour..
I need to root my tablet to downgrade?

Use media scanner root from the play site and disable the media scanner. Then this battery drain should reduce.

I think in my case most of the battery issues was from the device being new and the software stats still needed more time to be accurate, that has happened to me on my Sony tablet also..
Now I can see some real stats as I use better battery stats app for keeping track of the battery.
I use my tablet as a use when needed device because it's not my notifications device that is always connected, for that I use my smartphone. That said I turn on airplane mode when I'm not using it and sync when needed as well.
Só when my Nexus 7 is in sleep mode it has very few apps and services running other than the system ones.
So the stats I came up with are:
1% in sleep mode with airplane mode on and Google Now and Location History turned on..
And..
0.3% in sleep mode with airplane mode and Google Now plus Location History off..
So for me no Google Now as I don't need that much.. It lasts 3x more in standby without it... And the truth is, in my country Google now for me isn't that useful as it is although I'm sure someday will be..
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It's strange...with stock 4.2.1 no root I haven't any battery drain... 0.7% /hour with wifi on and sync enabled...In the battery stats, even if in a hour i turn on the display on a minute, the display takes at least 40% of battery...
I only get 3 hours on screen time.
I used to get 6 hrs on my 8gb.
I got a 32gb now.

I agree with kilometers4. Better battery stats & cpu spy work well. I also suggest you download a battery calibration app. When I updated to Jelly Bean on my S3, the battery life sucked. But once I calibrated for a few cycles, it's great now. Same for my Nexus 7.
try switching to official CM10.1. Im getting 9hrs screen on time with it

I'm gonna hafta concur with this guy. However, I was having the same problem.
I used my keyboard to type into the search bar "bad battery life",
I looked at some similar titled threads and decided to look through this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783390&page=3&highlight=nexus+7+not+charging
I followed the directions.
I did profit.
Next time use the search bar, and don't get butthurt when someone teases you a little. It's called the internet get used to it. And your a senior member you should know that.
When my nexus was brand new, i also had a few battery issues. But got it fixed after fully discharging the device a few times. Make sure it charges to 100% inbetween.

If you are running 4.2 i would reccomend you switch back to 4.1
Inverro route
Try to disable NFC
It has to be a rogue app, I'm getting way over that on my stock n7 32gb, stock 4.2.1

I find it kinda strange you only getting 3 hours out of it. On my Nexus 7 I can get little over 24 hours on a full charge. That's with basic web surfing, xda app, twitter and few YouTube videos.
Course if I do something more demanding like playing games I get less runtime on the battery.

This is true! I left buzzfeed on in the background and it took 25% of my battery life in 1 hour. It used more battery life than my pandora app. I couldn't quite figue that out.
Hello folks.
I'm currently on Aokp 4.2.2 unofficial with Francos r90 Kernel, bootloader and Radio are both updated. I'm suffering from massive battery draining. I guess something isnt letting my CPU sleep properly, as i always get messages like "100% awake while screen off" from battery stats plus. I'm just getting up to 2 hours screen on time, and battery is falling by about ~7% / hour With normal usage (whatsapp, News, xda) and like 15 Minuten screen on time in that hour. Also, see the attached Images. I sometimes have wakelocks by audioOut_2 and as you can See, maps is using more battery than the Display itself.
On an additional Note, GPS is always off, im using Taster to locate, but with cell near only.
Would be very Kind to help me out of this issues, thank you a bunch!

Turn off Location Services for a little bit to see if that helps.
You should try a program like autostarts, and don't allow things to run unless explicitly started by yourself. This way it'll help identify if there is an misbehaving program.
I saw you were using franco r90 which could be an issue. Try going back to the last stable
I think you will like this application.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5vYXNpc2ZlbmcuZ3JlZW5pZnkiXQ..
This simple application will make your annoying applications to go to sleep. Therefore your phone can finally go to sleep like it should when it's not in use. I see that Google maps seems to be the culprit in your battery drain. You can use titanium backup and delete it and install it back again from the play store. After that you can use the application that I've given you and force it to go tot sleep.
Here's the forum for the application:

Cannot wait til you update us!
Coming from the iphone 4, good battery life is the most important thing i miss. I need a rock solid reliable phone or else would have started to mess around a read about Kernels to see how they may help with better battery life. My iPhone would last me 3-4 days of general use. To me General use is very light use..! With nexus it lasts max 1-2 days but more importantly i need to be concious what the battery level is. With th eiphone i never really bothered as i knoew i would get at least 2 days if not more.

Still got audioOut_2 wakelock. Except that onr, everything is fine After Kernel update, greenifying and disabling Autostarts

Google Maps wake lock is causing the issue.

How to fix this?
I stopped location sharing etc. still no deep sleep?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
If you have your N4 rooted, you can "freeze" maps until they release a fix with apps like "root uninstaller". Maps won't launch anymore and can't cause any wake locks then.
If your phone is not rooted, there's no luck until Google releases a fix.
