Nexus 7 (2012) won't start - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus 7 won't start...
It was running the 4.3 update, after the update it restarted, google logo was visible on screen for 20+ minutes then it turned off and after this would not start.
I tried leaving it in charger over night, I tried holding power button, tried holding power button with volume up, with volume down, and with up and down.
Nothing...
Anyone experience this?

Unspecified Problems?

Okay, because I don't have 10 posts I can't post in the Android Development section yet. Okay, I've have blnkks (sp?) ICS rom for about a week now. Today I was using the Kindle in study hall at school, playing glow hockey. I locked the screen, cleaned it because it was full of fingerprints, and then unlocked it. After I unlocked it, the screen went weird. Every time I press the power button, nothing happens. The screen isn't fully off, because I can see a faint purpleish tone, which tells me the screen it on. It's not bricked, because it didn't freeze in a boot cycle. Any idea? I have TWRP 2.0 and I do have a recent backup, if need be.
Have you tried holding the button down for >20 seconds? Eventually it should turn off if you do that. Then hit the power button again and it should start up normally.

I feel really stupid. I held it down for about 30 seconds and it finally turned off. It turned on with no problem. Before I was only holding it for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the help

Try holding Power+Both volume buttons for 10 seconds, then try to boot.

Phone crahsed and now wont do anything [complete brick]

I was using my phone (43% battery) listening to music using the castbox podcast app when suddenly the music stopped and my phone completely froze, nothing worked not even stand by, i held down the power button to restart it but it just turned off and would not turn on again, i then left it and after around 10 minutes i see it has turned on, to a white google logo with a grey background (never seen that before) i hold down the power button again to try and restart it but it then just turned off again and wouldnt do anything regardless of what buttons i pressed (power/ power + volume up/down) i have plugged it in, still nothing, and nothing when pressing buttons while plugged in.
any one got any idea what could be wrong or how i could fix this?

Welcome new XDA member.... first post? Many threads on this topic. Have you held the power button down by itself for several minutes? Were you having ANY battery issues leading up to this? Can you boot to Recovery? Are you running TWRP?

6T Will not turn on

I was updating the apps on my phone and did a reboot. The device powered off and now I can't get it to turn on. I tried holding down the power button for 20 seconds but nothing. I have it plugged into a USB C cable now. I tried holding the power button and each of the volume buttons and nothing. Does anyone else have any suggestions.
yeah call oneplus and get a new replacement coming
Hold power + volume up. I had the same issue yesterday.

I was having that problem too and remedied it by just pressing and holding random buttons down for random periods of time lol. Sorry it's not more precise. Eventually I had the power button held down with the volume up and it ended up turning on. Was down for a good like 2-5 min though with absolutely no signs of turning on.
Was only getting that problem after I selected oem unlock from dev options menu.
When it did turn back on, I powered down completely and held vol down with power to go into recovery and selected fastboot from that menu.

Yeah, thats what happened to me as well holding both Vol up and down with power. Now I either do vol up with power or vol down with power... never both haha. But I don't think vol up with power does anything.

for whoever has this issue and needs to see this, my steps to cut it back on (finally):
1. let it sit on the charger for like 5-10 minutes
2. unplug let sit again for a few minutes
3. pressed power and both volume buttons till i felt a buzz and it cut right on.
