Quick Remote - how do I do that - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried to configure quick remote to work with my TV, but I can't get them paired. I've a newer LG TV (47LN series) but when pressing the power button 100 times pointing at the TV it doesn't work? How should I hold and point the phone at the TV?
Sendt fra min LG-D802 med Tapatalk

The remote is touchy but not that bad, Reboot and try again. If that didn't work then contact LG. I got every device I had to work, although I can only adjust volume on my Yamaha reciever

On the play store there is an app for LG tvs specifically. You might have better luck with that dedicated IR remote.
The description says that it supports LN61XX, LN57XX, LN570B but doesn't specifically say 47LN like you say you have so, I don't know if it will work, but worth a try.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.tv.remoteapps
if your tv is from 2011 or earlier it might need this version
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clipcomm.WiFiRemocon
Good luck and also, for the Qremote feature, you should be able to have it learn your remote by having the phone learn each key one at a time.

I already have this one but I don't like it to have to show me the content of the TV screen on my phone and I can't turn it off.
It would be nice to turn on the TV with the phone. It can not be done with the app as it works through wifi

I've found you need to hold the phone parallel to the floor and make sure you are pointing right at the device's receiver.

I didn't really have any problems setting up my phone for remote. I just did it last night too. OP, does the phone work with other devices & not the TV?

Mine worked no problem, I just wish there was a widget so I could just load it on a screen and not worry about opening the app every time I wanted to use it.

I cant get mine to work at all either...

There is a quick app in the drop down menu and there is a widget you can add to one of the home screens, called quick remote?

This!!!
Pull down from the top, turn on quick remote. You'll see the remote automatically come up

Quick Remote can be added to the Lockscreen Widgets.
On the lock screen swipe to the left, you will see this screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Tap to add Widgets, select Quick Remote:
You should see something like this:

Is there an app to put power control widget in notification pulldown?

That would be sweet. Pretty much the only feature of my long gone jailbroken I*phone (sbsettings) that I miss was activating that screen with a swipe without exiting the focused application. It must be possible in android. Any info?
Quicksettings?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
There is an app in the market called "Quick Settings" which can be placed in the Ongoing notification dropdown that is customizable to include everything on the power control widget and more.
I am a fan of "power strip", a great paid app.
Quick Settings is really nice. Thanks y'all.
FYI, I've also used NOTIFi by Sisedi Media. It's skinnable and has a polished look that's a little different from the normal android UI.
Try QuickDesk Beta. It's a single extra homescreen that you access by double tapping the home button. Can put any widgets or shortcuts that you can put on your home screen. That way, all you have to do is double tap your home button, use the power strip, then hit back to get out of QuickDesk Beta and you'll be back in your original app.
The MIUI ROM has this as a fixed element at the bottom of the drop down.

The amount of times i've wished I didn't have to return to Home Screen to toggle GPS / WIFI etc - this is the absolute perfect solution. If it had customisable entries where we could launch a task switcher - WIN WIN!
+1 hopefully.
Perhaps this thread should be moved to Andoid General for greater visibility?
Steve.
theres an app thats called "in app toggle wifi" or something where you just have to hold the search softkey for a couple of seconds. even better in that it is hidden.
A good alternative is quickdesk by ruqqq, I've set it to bring up its "screen" on home double tap.
quickdesk is awesome. Not only can use power control but any app that you want without leaving any application. love it
Just noticed that the galaxy tab has this too.

Swipe Up From Home Button to Lock Screen -- Sharing what I discovered...

The same gesture that you do to get to Google Now can be changed to turning the device/screen off.
Just install this free app called "Screen Off And Lock": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en
Then swipe up from Home (like you would to get to Google Now) and it'll ask you to set a new default:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Grant it permissions, and now, every time you swipe up from Home, you can lock your screen/device from anywhere! Great for those who don't want to overuse the power button, and for those who obviously don't use Google Now like that.
To get rid of it, just go to "Screen Off and Lock" app in your App settings and Clear Defaults (or just uninstall the app).
Just thought I'd share.
Thank you! I love the apps like this.
love it, if only i can swipe up to turn on

Bricked kernel supports both tap to wake as well as swipe to wake BUT battery train increases by about 2-3x on idle above having it off. It goes from 0.5 to 1% per hour w/o these enabled to 2-3% w/ enabled. These are both customizable (enable/disable) but be aware of the drain.
This is great for one handed operation when you don't want to reposition the phone.
Very cool, just what my N5 was needing!
Thanks for highlighting this app.
This app disabled the double tap to wake function of the bricked kernel. That is unfortunate, because having both of these running in conjunction would make the N5 a 1 handed notification checking, song changing device when its on your desk or table.
EDIT: Just kidding it was disabled for some reason. I had it set to reenable after start up...so I don't know what happened.
Too much battery drain I never use these apps

Lol. It's the exact same amount as Google Now. It is only listening when the screen is already on, which would otherwise be waiting for an upward swipe for Now.

Chrome Browser on Nexus Player

Can someone with Nexus Player please confirm if you were able to sideload Chrome Browser to your Nexus Player?
You don't even need to sideload it, you can straight up install it from the play.google.com site. I'm certain they don't have a 'leanback' interface for the browser yet so you're going to need a keyboard/mouse to actually use it.

Do you think a google TV remote could work for this? The Sony one has a keyboard/ mouse.

Maybe, I don't have any experience with them. Are they just standard bluetooth? I've been using a Logitech K400 with their usb adapter in an OTG cable.

Did anybode had issues with Chrome? When I first loaded it, the "accept terms and conditions" screen was all black. After a lot of back and forth, I was finally able to "blindly" hit the accept button. Now, from time to time, the keyboard screen just flashes briefly and then dissapears. I cannot type anything, not even from the remote app on my phone

I had the same issue. I couldn't get past the black screen, so I installed Dolphin Browser instead. Dolphin Browser works well if you're looking for an internet browser with plenty of features such as a download manager and user agent switcher. Similar to chrome, a keyboard/mouse are necessary.

Nexus Player Bluetooth always discoverable.

I've noticed during the time I've had my Nexus Player that random things have been connected to its Bluetooth, like my neighbor's phone (by accident). I've checked the discoverable items in my area, and the Nexus Player always shows up. I want to make it not discoverable, in case someone with malicious intent connects to it through Bluetooth and installs malware or something, but I can't find any option on the device or any answers anywhere on Google or anywhere else on the internet.
Any help would be appreciated!
I've been searching for an answer for this for a good while now. Not only can someone steal valuable info, they have access to your internet. I really am annoyed by this. If you find anything, please let me know.

I was looking into the same thing a few months ago (don't know how I just saw this thread). The only thing you can do on a stock rom without root is to turn the bluetooth and/or wifi off. The apis that usually would stop discover mode ..... well they don't work.

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that won't let me play audio from my phone because the Nexus Player always takes priority. Always being discoverable is super annoying. I wish there was a way to turn that off.

Could you please upload it somewhere else, I'm trying to download on my phone but it won't let me unless I install the mega app, thank you, I've been looking for this for a while, I have a sneaky neighbor that has been connecting to my nexus players for a while, I keep deleting the pairing but it appears again and again...

Here's a copy/paste from my post on the nvidia forums.
I got tired of trying to find a way to turn off bluetooth, so I made my own app.
It's nothing fancy. I did not add leanback launcher intent, so it needs to be launched from settings or a 3rd party launcher like sideload launcher. Click the app once, it will turn off bluetooth. Click the app again, it will turn on bluetooth. There is no GUI or menu or anything. It's a very basic app, but it works...
I tested it on my own shield without issues. I take no responsibility if you run in to issues with the app though. Use at your own risk.
If you find the app useful, let me know. I'll create my own thread for it. I may even add more features if I'm not lazy, and if there's a demand for it...

Display/screen off/asleep with no hardware/physical button that works with biometric?

As title says, do anyone of you know if there is any app or setting to set a software shortcut to put the screen off the same way the power button does?
I don't really like pressing the button all the time, for now i've set the display timer to 15 seconds to shut down itself but coming from the modding world (lineage etc) roms, I got used to have a shortcut like longpressing back button to have screen off instead of using the power button.
I tried nova launcher and some other apps, their shortcuts are working BUT they require the admin unlock (PIN or SIGN only), no fingerprint or eyeballing aviable.
Any clue to help this fella out?

If you change nova lock method from administrator to timeout (screen off, and times out to lock after 5 seconds for unrooted users) or even better if rooted, then you can use double tap to lock with biometrics.
Scroll to bottom of nova settings/advanced/screen lock method option

I use doubleHome, I double tap home buttom a black screen appears for 3 seconds, after the phone is locked with biometric unlock.
Free and works like a charm, from the same athor of bxactions!
Unfortunately using doubleHome you have to leave the current app.
Better: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dynalogix.screenoff.ultra.quick.timeout
There is a shortcut, you can use everywhere, e.g. as gesture.
Im happy to see I'm not the only one who needed this!
Every manufacturer should think about this and include it in the stock Rom tho
Thank anyone for all the ideas!!!
You can do this with any gestures or automation app that runs shell commands like LMT or Tasker, etc.
