Stock text messages text size - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I wanted to know if anyone knows of a way to make the text size in texts smaller? I already pinch zoomed all the way out, but it's still pretty huge :/

I think all you can do is change font size under display settings. Another third party text app may have an internal setting.

yeah the big font size annoyed me enough to switch messaging apps (and for group messaging )

you can change the size. go to the text and use 2 finger like zoom picture

If you're rooted then use xposed framework and download the app settings module. That will allow you to change the size of the messaging app/text in the bubbles. That was the only work around that worked for me, other than using a whole other SMS app. I recommend using 8sms if you haven't found a replacement app or a solution to your stock size.

How do I make the text larger in text messaging? Are there testing apps that you recommend?

Find a spare parts app in the market...
or possibly in your settings if you're on a Rom.
There is a text size option that will universally change size across all apps.

[Q] Emoji dictionary?

This may seem stupid, but has anyone been able to get the emoji dictionary autocorrect thing to work? I can see the pictures when someone sends them to me, but am not able to send them myself. I downloaded and enabled the dictionary in the settings, but nothing shows up in the suggestions.
Thanks for any info on how to make this work!
I used Kii keyboard and added the droid.sans.fallback.ttf file to my system fonts and I was able to see the black and white version of emojis up to iOS 5 I believe. As far as color and suggestions, I don't think that's working. You can download a messaging app, Handcent SMS, and see them in their colored glory just fine.

Can I change font size of text messages on Galaxy S4?

Any ideas how to change the font size in text messages? I can't find it anywhere.
I've already got all other system text on "tiny". But the font size of SMS messages is still large...
Yes. In the messaging app, settings, use volume key to adjust font size.

Not cutting it. The problem is the Tiny font setting on the 4.3 isn't the same size as 4.1's Tiny. I have the same prob on my Note2 on 4.3. It's infuriating.

Handcent SMS not sending MMS

Just got the Note 3 thru T-Mobile..had it for about 9 days. Cant send/recieve pics, even to myself.
Switched to the stock SMS/MMS app and it works fine. Anyone else experienced this? I kinda like Handcent because I can have a LED light notify me of a unread SMS/MMS..stock app only gives me a sound.
Handcent sms just updated and fixed the issue.

I'll check it out.
As much as I hate Handcent 5, I tried it, but no go for me. Again searching for a new messaging app. Stock would be fine if it wasn't bubbled.
Themagicm, did you have any luck?
Yes. Seems to be working for me. I'll test some more and if it craps out I'll reply back.
False alarm. Sending works....some recieving works. Uninstalling. The only reason I use it is because I can change the LED color to notify me of unread TMs.
I just now uninstalled Handcent as well. I went over to goSMS. Far from ideal, but at least I can again send receive MMS, as well as receive MMS over wifi.
The original messaging app works for me though...I just want the LED to flash a color of my choosing. Lol

I was looking at that one, but didn't want to shell out money just to try it as I couldn't find a demo. I know I can return it after a few minutes, but would prefer to test it over a few days. Is it that much better/different than others?

IMO it is. It's made by a XDA Developer. Nice simple interface.

Just tried sliding messaging...swiping left and right to loop through conversations? Seriously? There may be ways to change that in the settings but I'm not going to lose my refund window you find it.
I just wish there was a demo, even if it was crippleware, too go through the options. Looked like there was potential, I'll see if I can learn more about it abd may reconsider

Yea you can change that through settings. It is still different from other messaging apps. Easy to get a hang off. Won't use any other sms app now.

I started using Textra SMS it's actually nice and simple, and I am able to send/recieve MMS.

I paid for it and used it for a day. Buggy, UI layout can't be changed only colors, stuck in conversation style, when using dark theme you can't see new message notifications on your conversation list since there's no way to change the black highlight color.
I'm sure it fills a niche and I see it has it's fans, but the sliding seems gimmicky and underwhelming. even with the maximum customization that I could do, the best I could do is get it close to 8sms, which is more reliable and less bloated.
They definitely need a free version, or at the very least, a trial period. There's too much in the app to get a feel for it in 15 minutes, and you'd spend most of that time attempting to MANUALLY configure it to send and receive MMS.
I say all this not to bust on the app, as it may be just right for some, but just to throw it out there that if you're used to a handcent-level of customization, this isn't for you.

I dont know what you did but you can change the UI layout. There are 4 different styles. It isn't buggy for me. maybe bad install for you. I do admit that sliding between messages wasn't for me so i disabled it in settings. In theme seting in sliding menu mode choose fullscreen sliding menu or choose no sliding menu.to change display layout it is under theme settings too. Mine highlight color for new messages show up in red highlight and I chose Dark blue theme. Yea like you say it might not be for some.

Right. The layout, meaning where things are located, is the same though. Just the styling of the layout can be changed. For example, I want my contact picture on the left, so that it's in a vertical list and not alternating.

Ahh. I didn't notice that. It would have made it a bit more pleasant. Thanks for at least making me aware of it. I had done the SMS app search before and came up blank so it was at least interesting to learn about and try something new.

[Q] How to prevent screen on with SMS?

Is there any way to prevent the screen from turning on when I receive a text message? Thank you!
Download Textra. In the app settings you get that option.

Thanks. I was hoping to stick with the default app, as I really like what Samsung had done with the pop-up notification.

Maybe the Lightflow app have settings for this and can override the default settings. Originally Lightflow lets you change light on the LED notification, but I have seen other settings in that app too. Worth a try.
Textra also has a pop-up notification. Not sure how it compares to Samsung's though
