So I've been trying a few 4.3 ROMs and right now I'm on Beanstalk, but every time I disconnect from WiFi, I lose 3G/4G connectivity unless I go into Airplane mode and even then it sometimes won't reconnect. Any suggestions on how to handle this issue?

It does not happen all the time. And seems to be a random times ill be downloading wifi tethered and then i lose the internet. phone still shows all bars and 4g the phones internet browser is showing pages cant be displayed. I have to reboot to fix it. Anyone else had this problem?
Try going into Settings, Wi-fi, Smart mode "off"

Data connection doesn't automatically turn on after disconnecting my device from wifi. All I am doing is to flip the airplane mode to connect back. I believe this isn't normal

Checked with Samsung support and they suggest me to try with a different service provider (3g). My current provider says the existing settings seems to correct. Still I lose data connectivity often
I am yet to test with a different sim.

I'm using a Galaxy S4 from USC (SCH-R970).

Loaded PAC-MAN nightly build dated 11/16/13
All seems to work very well and I'm quite happy with the ROM. There is one glitch I'm having which I can only assume is from the ROM. Whenever I leave my wifi connection and the phone needs to switch to data, it doesn't. It takes a reboot and then all is well. This is what happens when I leave home to go to work. I don't have a wifi connection at work. Going back home doesn't cause any problems. It happily picks up the wifi again.
Other forums have had some suggestions such as toggling wifi on/off (as in airplane mode) etc., none of which seems to work for me. I need to do a reboot to get back to enabling data connection.
Has anyone else noted this? Is this a known issue? Are there any suggestions?

I have almost the same issue, for me, I randomly lose data connection, and have to reboot to fix it. I DL an app called 3g reconnect and haven't had the problem since. I don't know a real fix but hope that helps

I've been using a few of the KitKat ROMs (Gummy, AOKP, Vanir) on my vs980 and occasionally my wifi will quit working. It says it is still connected to my router but browsers fail to connect to servers. Also when leaving my car, I turn off BT and turn in Wifi and most of the time I have to reboot to reconnect wifi. I've tried stock kernels and paek5.2 and it doesn't make a difference. Any ideas?

after upgrading to 4.4.3 i am having very bad wifi problems. i can connect to my wifi without a problem but it doesnt download anything. its very slow and sometimes it doesnt do anything. what i did wrong? thanks.
Have you tried completely removing the wifi profile and then re-adding it? Also, try disabling wifi Optimization.
