Going to be leaving sprint due to its horrible coverage and will be going to t-mobile. I currently have the LG Optimus G and I love this phone. screen size Is perfect, battery life is good. Getting 8-10 hours on heavy to medium use with no charge throughout the day. I wanna get your opinion on this and also I need a backup app so I can get my contacts, text, call logs and, SD card saved.

G2 over the One, no question. It's just as fast and the UI offers a ton more than Sense.
As for backing all of that stuff up, I like and haven't had any problems using MyBackup Pro.

once you pick up the phone the back button in my opinion is better than the side buttons. the only annoyance you can't access the buttons when the phone is laying down.

It took me a day or two at most. With the buttons back there and the combination of knock on, it's good and shouldn't take you long.

Had the One for a week before I picked up this phone. Fyi search for my thread. We discussed some of your questions @ length last month.
In all honestly, it took me half a day playing around with it. The tmobile and AT&T versions have bigger volume buttons so it's easier grasp vs the Verizon version
The G2 is a faster and fluid One with a better screen. It doesn't have boom sound. The audio hacks do help if you're really stuck on having the louder speaker from the One
Can u link me the thread if you don't mind. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the G2 since currently t-mobile has is offer for the G2 that makes it no down payment upfront

I am torn between these two phones. as well as the the rumored Nexus 5.
I was checking out the LG G2 and HTC one in my local AT&T store and found the G2 very easy to handle. buttons on the back didn't bother me at all. I actually thought they were well thought out.
I tested out the cameras and found the G2 had sharper images with more detail.
Forgot to bring my earphones with me so I couldn't test out the sound from audio jack. But speaker was fine on the G2. Obviously, HTC One has better external speakers, but I found the speakers for the G2 to be quite adequate for phone calls etc.
The screen is gorgeous. Very bright and sharp. I thought it looked just as good or better than the Galaxy Note 3.
I was impressed with LG's UI. Not a ton of crap like Samsung's touchwiz. Very minimal, like stock android.
My only wish is that LG released the G2 in a 64GB model. I would have bought it right there in the store.
Anyone hear any rumors about LG releasing a higher capacity G2 in the future? 32GB's will barely be enough for me. I like taking a lot of photos with my phone and carrying some music playlists and movies. 64GB would be perfect. I might have to go with the HTC One developer Edition if the LG G2 doesn't come out with higher capacity storage. Would have been ideal if they just released the korean version with the removable back cover and microsd slot.

You'll find that with knock on the back buttons are usually only for volume control. With a quick window case it it comes on every time you open it.

Rumors are there's a 64 GB Google Play edition in the works. There's a thread around here discussing that. I doubt it'll see the light of day though
As for removable back, the Korean model has this along with microsd built in. All of this @ the expense of a slightly smaller battery

Here's the link. Honestly, I think Tmobile has the best thing going right now. Which color G2 are you getting?
I've only had the G2 for a week and I miss my HTC One so much! Specially since I have kids and I take a lot of pics inside the house.
HTC One may not have had too much detail but night pictures were clean, quick and never had any trouble.
I have yet to take a single good picture at night in the house whereas I had 1000's of pics on HTC One.
Kids move a lot and HTC One was quick and wide angle lens was a plus.
I am ready to go back to Best Buy and return this and pick up HTC One but there is little bit hope that the blurriness and fakeness at night can be fixed. I tried custom rom and camera modded but they improve one thing but not the other.
HTC One, IMHO of course, has the best night time camera as far as responsiveness, less blurry and just as a consumer. I am no expert by any chance but I see my pictures on my 22" monitor and I can tell HTC One pics were not that good quality but it was closer to real life than LG G2. Heck, I took a shot from G2 last night when kids were watching a movie and it looked like they had masks on, so much processing.
For the first time, my wife's iPhone 5 took better pics just because I didn't have my HTC One.

Had this dilemma today and once I held each device in hand it was a no brainer, G2 all the way. better battery, better screen, better pics, but a different interface that will take a bit of tweaking but that's half the fun of a new device. Add to that that the G2 is a close cousin to what will be the N5 and we should get some AOSP LOVIN!

The LG ui isn't all that bad. With the knock on you also have the knock off with stock launcher and/or knock off in the status bar. So no need to touch the power button unless you want to actually turn it off. And why you would want to do that when it's so awesome I don't know

I turned in my One yesterday for the G2 after owning it only 10 days. Downfalls of the One are:
tiny screen
battery life sucks
kind of a pain in the ass to return to stock
things I liked about the One:
- awesome speakers
- Blinkfeed
Before the One I owned for 10 days I had the S4 for a few months. Not a whole lot of complaints about it but the deving for it seemed to had died down and I got bored with the phone.
I really love the screen and speed of this this phone, and knock knock is awesome. Also the huge battery is a great bonus. I will be keeping this phone for more than 10 days
So I got the G2, is it able to root? I have GCLOUD and Im able to backup my contacts, but i dont see any sms,mms backup.. I have MyBackup as well but how do i transfer it to the G2 without paying for the pro version.

Hmmm. Better keyboard on the one (love stock htc over swiftkey or samsung stock)
I prefer the screen on the HTC one as it better suits my eyes, especially under sunlight.
Sense 5 seems more refined to me and looks better overall to me. I appreciate the design esthetics over touchwiz.
Boomsound = No comparison.

I was worried it was going to be too big coming from a iPhone 4s. Now my misus iPhone 5 even feels too small and inferior! Apple, I'm never coming back.

Thanks, I am on the fence. Tired of HTC messing with the phone during OTA's for us flashers.
Do want a bigger screen. But, did hear about the bad s4 keyboard. I am not much on Swiftkey either. I have been playing with both at att. Will pay more attn to keyboard. S4 did have great dl speeds in store compared to One right beside it.
Again, appreciate feedback--

Yeah, it started with Note Two and One S. They are making them taller and narrower so they feel better in hand. It doesn't feel like that big a phone when holding it.
I dont think you would be disappointed with either device. But the look and feel of the one, add in boomsound. I'm now running trickdroid Rom with tbaldens HTC logo as menu. Only 2 places I see the s4 being better is the sd slot and removable battery. Slightly larger screen. Htcs screen is big enough for me. 32gb is enough for me as that's all I had on my iPhone. Oh and charging time on this phone sucks really bad. Not sure on the s4
I think charging and batt life is good on the s4. Hopefully an update will cure charging. Yeah, 32gb would work since my One S is 16gb. I get by with it. Would really want 64gb and Black.
My browsing is biggest issue, old eyes. Need to play with One more in that regard--
Yes this phone charges slow. My galaxy S3 was slow as well but not sure it was this slow. I +1 the comment on the slightly narrower screen. I prefer this on the one vs S4. Easier for me to type on, and again this keyboard is probably the best I have ever used on any android device.

I didn't come right from the s4 I had some other phones in between but.. almost identical in size... similar features plus some... no lag even with the bloat.. ips LCD is soon much nicer than amoled imo... for me a huge thing is being able to turn fast dormancy off which never actually stuck on my s4
Haven't found any cons yet
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 4
I'm coming straight from it, I just sold my S4 last night. This phone is better in every way imo. It is about the same size but a little bit thicker so it feels better in the hand to me. The ips lcd screen is much better to me. It's much brighter and much brighter whites and more accurate colors. When I looked side by side, I realized how bad the screen on the S4 really looks.
I also feel that the software is very similar but it doesn't lag like touchwiz does. It is also has great features that are actually useful. I found myself never using most of the features on my S4.
I love the software customization options too. It makes me feel like I don't even need a custom rom. The camera is nice as well. I have gotten some nice shots so far.
All in all, this phone has been a great experience and I highly recommend it over the S4.

I traded my week old S4 yesterday for the G2. Extremely impressed. Ran the battery down last night so I'm doing the first full recharge now, but this thing is fast and slick. Screen can't be beat. I'll be in the mountains later taking pictures to test out the camera but my first few last night came out great.
No regrets here. We're going to get along great.

I just got the att version about 2 days ago, switching from an st and I have to say I'm pleased.
PRO's:
Great battery life
UI seems to fly compared to S4 even though they both used about the same amount of ram stock and not rooted
Screen is great. Loving the customization with on screen buttons
It doesn't seem to get anywhere as hot as my s4
There are more pros but my final one I'll mention is the buttons on the back. No accidental bumps hitting the power button holding the phone in landscape
CONS:
Phone is slippery
Concern for update support from lg

Got the G2 on launch day, came from the GT-I9500. So far I can't think of a single con or regret. My only worry is AOSP dev support. (which is one of the reasons I left the octa GS4)
The G2 seems better in every single aspect thus far for me. (the screens are a matter of opinion of course)
Right now I have the S4 an G2. I'm a pretty big Samsung homer and have had the nexus, S3, Note and Note . I work for Verizon, so it's easy for me to get anything I want cheaply. My last lg was the G2x on T-Mobile. I swore I would never use one again after that nightmare! With all that said I love this phone. Battery life is sick, screen is amazing, no lag...just smooth as butter. I find myself using the knock feature all the time. The two things that are holding me back from keeping it are probably the same for just about everyone else. No SD card or removable battery. I put a ton of stuff on my phone from torrents and stream it to my TV. I think the answer might be, sell the S4 keep the G2 and grab a note 3 at launch. not sure my wife will agree with this solution however

Just picked up my VZW G2. I have a loki'd S4 and I'm happy with it. I run PACman on it and really have no issues but I'm a phone junky. I pay full price to maintain my unlimited data so I get a lot of sh*t from people when they see I have a new one but whatever. So far, I love it. Really disappointed the double tap to turn screen off doesn't work on nova launcher but not surprised. Still works turning it on but not of.
I do like the G2. It really feels a lot like my S4 so I'm already used to the feel. A little hard to get used to buttons but that doesn't bother me a bit. The screen Is amazing and I don't have to worry about screen burn in like I had on my S4. I've hidden my soft keys and an using pie... I want my whole screen. I'm keeping my S4 no matter what. As far as the G2, I really hope the Dev community gets into this device. The only thing I missed from TW, was the camera. So went AOSP pretty fast and never really looked back. However, on this device, I'd love to see some way to have the double tap to turn off work on different launchers. Again, I hope the Devs work on this bad boy.
Ultimately, I'll have to play with this a bit longer and see what happens with development, then, I'll decide if this goes on eBay. If the Nexus 5 comes to VZW (yes I know but some rumors say it might but I'm not holding breath) and I get the moto X through work, I'll keep it any way.

Double tap to turn off screen in third party launchers
I had the s4 for a couple days & switched to the G2..
The G2 feels a lot smoother when running vs TW on the S4. The S4 did have a bunch of other sensors (like the front IR for air gestures) - but I honestly don't see myself using them.
My biggest concerns were non-removable battery, no micro sd and how good the radio was. When I checked it out at the store, the G2 had marginally better signal strength. Microsd is solved with a cheap usb/microsd otg cable, and after thinking about it, the battery isn't that much of an issue for me. Plus the G2 has wireless charging - picked up 2 nokia dt-900's for $25 shipped
The G2 is solid!
I run nova prime and my double tap the status bar to turn the screen off works.

So, some people have been able to get amazing battery life out of the G2, but others have had fairly major heat buildup and short battery life issues. I have also seen some posts about lag issues.
I'm deciding between this phone and the HTC One, which I have heard also has battery issues. I currently have an HTC One X+, and the battery, lag, and heat buildup are unbelievably bad, so I'm cautious about getting another HTC device.
What I want to know is, are most people having good experiences with the battery/heat buildup of the G2? Have you experienced consistent lag? Thanks for your responses.
I have experienced excellent battery life 1+ day usage. I've never had the phone heat up at all... Slight warmth, possibly just from my hand...
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I haven't experienced any of the issues you mention. The plastic case squeaks a little, but this is to be expected...the s3 and s4 both do/did it. It's literally the only drawback I've noticed. I just ordered a case, so hopefully that'll muffle the sound and it'll be perfect. ☺

I just sold my HTC One to get my G2. The One's battery life sucks! The only things the One has over the G2 are: 1. higher PPI screen (worthless since both have pixels so tiny you wont even notice the difference. 2. Front facing stereo speakers. My G2 makes it through the day easily with over 50% remaining by the time I go to sleep. It gets a little warm, but only when playing games...and no warmer than my One got when playing games.
hmm i was also thinking about getting the lg g2. I current have the att htc one x, which is nice and all but i think its time for an upgrade. Mine was more of a stutter then lag as smooth as TW Roms could make it and got annoying after a while
Playing around with the phone for the past few hours, I am quite impressed on how smooth it is for me.. its like a better TW (might be insulting to the G2 )
I'm in the same boat and considering the g2 or the g pro. Im liking the phablet because I watch a lot of video on my current phone so the real estate is nice. At $99 with a new contract its a steal and I'm due for an upgrade. But I'm also digging the hardware of the g2. Bern lurking between the 2 forums trying to make a decision, but I'm heavily leaning towards the g2.
Lg G2 > gs4 > htc one
I've used them all, and by far the Lg wins. Especially if youre worried about lag and battery life. Screen is also better than the other ones. Cant wait for devs to start posting cleaner roms

In ear? Or the ear speaker? The ear speaker sounds great, the "in ear" speaker probably depends on the headphones.

Like many others, I have the One as well. I also own the S4, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt "the G2 is hands down my favorite".
I do however think that my S4 gets as good of battery life as my G2 though. I just don't like the lag my S4 gets when I load it up with apps.
This is probably not important to you, but the S4 and the G2 sync with my Fitbit flex via LE Bluetooth and the One does not. ?

DO NOT... I'm sorry let me say that again. DO NOT. Again. NOT. GET THE S4 hands down worst device I have ever owned. Everything negative Previously said is 100% true and I know this because I suffered from ****4 as well. It's horrible. It's terrible. It's bad. It's just down right horriterribad. Please bro. Don't do it. Save yourself from the samsung rapefest.
Note: it took me 5-10 minutes each time to get from my lock screen to pattern unlock to main screen.

Thanks for the quick response. That helped a lot. How's the Bluetooth connection on here? I use the Plantronics Voyager Legend with my iPhone for work and my Motorola Atrix HD. The connection and range are excellent on both phones however it's not as good on the HTC one.
wait and see what happens with the nexus 5 in like 2-3 weeks. nexus 4 is my favorite phone ive used (name a phone ive owned it) the only thing its missing is LTE sweet battery life and an awesome camera, all of which the G2 has but you get the best experience with a stock google phone more devs on it and CM11 or whatever it will be is gonna be sweet on it

I'm hoping that the LG Nexus 5 (stock android, either 4.3 or 4.4) will be coming to the G2 shortly after the N5 is released, and when/if its ported to Verizon, it will make the G2 one heck of a device.
cant complain bout battery life or heat
just basic browsin and crap i can go 24hrs and still have juice left over with 50% brightness
playin gta3 and streamin netflix with %50 brightness maybe 7-8hrs

That's a great point. I didn't think of that.
G2 vzw awesome battery life...awesome phone.
Just wondering if any other LG G2 users might try the LG G Flex? T-Mobile is releasing the LG G Flex Feb 5th and you might be able to get Netflix free for 6 months. I still like my G2 and development is good but I'm kind of wanting to try the Flex. I prefer the G2 size but did have a Note 2 for awhile.

I def like the form factor to it...Every one has an issue with the screen resolution but my view on that is that can you honestly tell the difference as in wow this screen is bad? Nope....
Im also eager to try a larger phone as well.As far as specs well, that dont really matter much in example the moto X which is a well put together phone as in hardware/software I would of chose if it was the same size as the lg g2

I heard about the bumps. I don't plan on flexing it and I'm very careful with my phones. I would think T-Mobile would make it right and swap it out if it continues to have them. Just not sure how it will fit in my pants pocket if at all. LoL

Is it that much difference? I probably wouldn't even notice. The 3500mAh Flex battery makes it function a little linger then the G2. He he

The GPU is suppose to be far superior in the 805.

There's isn't much difference besides screen size and design. There's not going to be much differences so I won't be getting it.

Haha. I have read the 720p display of the flex is top notch dispite the number. I definitely am interested in the size. Would like to wait and see if the G Pro 2 comes to T-Mobile. I would jump that in a heartbeat. If not I''ll be all over the flex. Downside of the flex to me is the "Lower" camera MP.

I went from the G2 to the G flex. First of all, i love both of these phones. But i prefer the G flex honestly. Why? Well first because of the size. I always like big phones and the G flex has plenty of screen real estate.
Second, the curve. It is SO F***ING beautiful man, so stylish and it stands out. I cant tell ya'll how many time i left the phone alone on a table then came back and looked at the curve with a smile on my face. It really is stylish. When i left my phone at work i could see ppl whispering talking about the form factor of the phone, all dumbfounded hAHahH. This phone attracts a lot of people like " Is that curved???" " Can i see it??/" Seriously the curve is so sick, its not a gimmick. It makes the 6 inch display more manageable, its very comfortable to hold in hand and in phone calls and makes watching vids and playing games a bit more immersive.
3rdly, the battery life. Im talking about consistently 8 hours of on screen time with HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY usage. Dont believe me? Check my stats here
: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553239&page=3
4th, the performance. The phone is simply zippy. Its super fast and fluid in everything.
But there are a couple of downsides in my opinion. First, the G flex that i had didnt support LTE so i was limited to 3g. Not that big of a deal since im most on the time on wifi but still, i want LTE. Second, the development is almost non existent and that KILLS me. I need Roms and kernels.
Neutral, the display. Yes it is only 720 p and it is definitely not as good as the G2 but it is more than enough and after a couple of days you get used to it and unless you put it side by side with a 1080 p phone youll be plenty satisfy. Its sharp enough, viewing angles are INCREDIBLE, colors are rich and vivid, blacks are blacks and whites are white......if you keep the brightness at 50% and up. Otherwise it becomes greyish but its not a big deal at all.
Im gonna pick up the G flex when it comes to AT&T later, it is such a great phone in my opinion. I loved having a device that no one had but i sold it for lack of LTE and development. The curve is totally worth it in my opinion, its something you can never get tired of. You will get so many praises.

The bumps go away after a day or 2 everytime you flex the phone. No big deal at all, thats just flex technology. Its definitely not a defect.

So I guess development picked up or you just like the Flex so much you don't care that much now? I'm a flash whore and development for the G2 801 picked up a lot lately. Are all the Flex variants the same? If so development should be ok with time right? Thanks for the reply. Out of thanks for now...

I sold the flex and ill pick up the AT&T version later next month. All variants are the same ( korean models) but i seems that the K version gets the most attention in terms of "development" ( it has one rom for it and CWM ). Anyways if you're in the US better wait for the AT&T, sprint or T-mobile versions. Im sure those will get some love from developers. But otherwise i love the phone, one of my favorite devices ever.
I'm sticking to my G2 and flashing a flex rom
Im coming off of contract soon, and thinking about getting the LG G2. I was wondering how you guys feel about it after owing it for sometime? Im coming from a Verizon Moto X dev. Edition, how much of a shock ( if any ) will I be in with the LG G2?
Thanks.
Much better hardware though with different features than the Moto X.

Samsung GS5 has an almost identical processor that's clocked a mere 10% faster. It's better, but not worth spending a lot more. Unless you need a baby monitor for your Samsung smartwatch.

Loving the phone, hating the buttons on the back.
For me, it is the best. Fast and good camera, fast hardware and the rear keys are not so bad. I love the double tab to wake up the phone. And.. i came from samsung, i love the feature to switch the buttons (back, menu and home). The Quick Memo function is also very cool (for screenshots).
It took a little bit to get used to the back buttons but now I'm very used to them there and I love how thin the bezels are because of this.
G2 is an awesome phone. Could've been a greatest one if it has easier flashing methods (for custom recover, roms etc). Samsung phones are definitely the easiest to flash.

great phone
The phone is the best phone i have ever had,i came from the galaxy note2,which was great phone and never regretted my decition,it has amazing display almost no bizzels very capable camera for outdoor shots, acceptable for indoor shots, great battery life, and personally i liked the back rear mounted buttons and i never felt that i need to root it at all.
Go for it it won't disappoint you expect for the build quality which is usual for plastic phones.
Coming from Nexus 4, this phone is definitely worth every penny. It has excellent battery life, camera, screen, processor and a slim design. What else could you ask for? That said, I'd recommend you to wait for One Plus One phone. That thing shape to be a beast although you need to check its compatibility with Verizon network
At this point I would also consider Sonys phones. This phone is fast and smooth but I am not impressed by the camera. I also have signal issues.
I have had it since October and dropped it a few times. It gets small dents along the plastic surrounding the screen but that's all apart from some tiny scratches on the screen. I think it is pretty durable although not completely Nokia grade. Bottom line is in still looks great.

Btw. The camera is not bad but it is just not on par with the competition. But you can do a lot to improve it with tweaked apps. Mine currently does 4K and slow motion. So the default cam app issues has caused the community to make improvements and add some pretty cool stuff.
Bump one last time. Im going to Verizon to swap out here soon within the next week. Thanks guys!!
Mine here work great, the screen amazing. The back button is pretty great(useful) for me, easy to take photo and control volume. Everything great here, no problem at all. For camera is acceptable also the mod from xdabbeb make g2 able to shoot 4k and slow mo and quality is beter.

Great phone. Only regret is build quality and cheap noisy plastics (especially the back).
In addition I must say that nexus5 touchscreen is a bit more responsive.

Just had this phone for 2 weeks. My HTC M7 was getting beat up. Bottom speaker died, Purple tint on camera etc. So i decided to try the G2.
I love the buttons on the back. Took me like 10 seconds to get used to them.
Also as mentioned, LG knows that thick bezels are waste of space. Suck it HTC M8.
Fast and better battery life than M7.
Only thing i miss is the community support that the M7 had tons of. And it was impossible to brick.
Can´t wait for G3.
The phone is amazing. Very fast, I never had any hickups. The only problem I see is the durability. Mine fell from my bed onto a coffee cup. From, like, 40 cm. The fall made a 5mm long, 0,5 mm deep dent on the side both in the plastic and the aluminium layer. I immediately bought the spigen armor case and I strongly advise you to get a case as well. Other than that perfect.
I can say this has been one of the only smartphones thats kept me content without wanting to try a newer device. I dont like samsung and htc's designs inside and out.
I'm patiently waiting for the LG G3
