Hello
Flashing different ROM for my HD2. I downloaded a few offline maps (4GB data) for Nokia Drive. I do not like to download again every time I flashed new ROM. Is there anyway to backup to my PC and then restore later?
Thanks
no you cant... you can try but for some reason after restore ND crashing...

hi all;
i'm no techie and i'm curious. i tried upgrading to WM2003 4.00.01 - the installation woked well and i didn't have any problems using it. before i did the upgrade, i backed up all data using SD Backup.
when i used SD Backup to restore the data an error message came up (many apologies, i can't remember what the msg was) although the file explorer showed that the SD was intact. also, the option to update just the contacts were disabled.
now, i'm back to XDA-SERv1.2.
my questions:
1. could i restore everything from SD Backup to WM2003?
2. how do i restore the existing data files and info into WM2003? one option that i can think of is to sync with my PC but that seemed like such an un-elegant solution.
sorry, if this questions were asked before - i couldn't find these in the forum.
many thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I've been using AmericanAndroid SD ROM (there) from more than a year now.
I tried several NAND roms (ICS and JB) but they were to slow or/and unstable for me.
So, I tried the NAND version of my GB SD rom (there) : it's stable and faster enough.
But, normal situation, I have to reinstall my apps (which is not too hard ). But above all,I have to reconfigure the system and all my apps too.
So, my question (not too late ) : how can I retrieve my SD ROM layout/apps/preferences with the NAND ROM version ?
Is there a way to backup/restore ? Or a software to help me with this ?
I've tried to copy system directories on SD card while in SD Rom mode, but file permissions didn't allow it. My goal was to copy them with a file manager while in NAND Rom mode (I assume I would have permissions problems too )
I've analysed the content of the SD card on my PC, but found it "light" regarding all that's installed on my SD rom.
Thanks for your help !

I don't know if this will work or not but you could try Titanium Backup.
You *may* be able to restore you apps' settings and possibly some system settings. I doubt you will get everything - widgets, for one will probably be missing. You will have to be VERY careful what you restore to system. It will be a trial and error setup.

Titanium backup should be fine for backing up all apps and app data. I personally would not restore system settings and reenter them manually instead, since restoring system settings can often cause issues. At the same time, you could easily try restoring everything and if that doesn't work reflash and restore only the apps.
Thanks Nigeldg and NYLimited for these two answers. I'll give it a try tonight and let you know.
EDIT :
So ! I've tested Titanium Backup, and I finally confirm that it permits to retrieve (almost) all my configuration, even system preferences, etc.
Wierdly, only 2 things hadn't come with the restoring : the only 2 widgets I use (which were easy to re-install).
You've been of much help you too
An information though :
when basking up the first time (SD Rom mode), I optimisticly launched a bulk operation for all the 124 apps (mostly system apps from the SD Rom).
That was too much for the phone. It freezed. After many reboots, I had to flash it with a stock rom (WM6.5), to return in my SD Rom mode.
The second test was successful : all apps backed up, but 10 by 10.
Then I flashed MAGLDR, the NAND Rom version, and succeded in restoring all the apps (unless the 2 widgets, re-installed from the Play Store).
Besides, I still have my phone out of order by now. But I'm sure I'll go through this.
I have problems with the ext4/a2sd partition process (I'm french and I have a 512mb HD2).
Hi
i have moved on some time ago to a new Galaxy S4.
now i want to use my Defy as a spare backup device. or if i go hiking and travelling or what not.
i want to format the device and reinstall it with CM10.
i have already downloaded all needed files but got stuck.
apparently i can't install a rom from the device's on memory, and need a memory card for it.
unfortunately, i don't have one.
am i wrong? is there a way through Recovery to install the rom? or is there an alternative allowing me to install the rom throughout the PC (like Odin for samsung)
thanks

No, I don't think so. A memory card is required.
hi guys so i wanna try a new custom rom or even go bac to the cynogen 12.1. since i am currently on stock kitkat from a nandroid restore. Was wondering if i go to a custom rom will i have have to back up my images, contacts, sms etc all over again ? or just flash the rom with the normal procedures and i'll be fine ? please someone guide me to the best current rom for our forgotten device by samsung thanks guys for taking your time reading this and helping me
The most mature ROM(for the I9301I) currently is the official CM 12.1, although Project Lucky is pretty stable as well. I would suggest making a copy of SMS history, contacts and call logs - there are many apps on the Play Store for this(I've used Super Backup.) As a rule of thumb it's recommended that you change the backup path to the external SD card in case things go south. Backing up the internal storage isn't necessary (IIRC), but there is always a risk involved when fiddling with the OS, so keep that in mind if you have photos or documents on your phone that you would rather not lose.
TL;DR: Backup is never a bad idea. :good:
Thanks for the reply any ideas how i can back up my images and other files easire ? Because honestly using the normal way of connecting it through a usb and using the normal explorer to back up on internal memory takes agessss
Such is the bane of MTP unfortunately... You can download an FTP server app from Play Store and see if it copies faster via Wi-Fi. Your other option would be copying everything to a folder on your(hopefully fast enough) microSD card and then backing that up, if you have a card reader that is. Good luck!
So, everything was looking fine:
as sai no more gost touch with TWRP for magisk,BUT keeping stock B13.
I try to restore a backup from my primary phone with "My [email protected] Pro" but A LOT of data were not recovered and some apps crashed when I try to open it, even clearing cache.
SO I format, restored the apps by google playstore choosing my primary phone for the app list and then recovered wit "My [email protected] Pro" only the DATA (I have 198 apps, some with home banking or other settings that I have no time to restore one by one).
Now apps works fine (almost 9'% of them) BUT
everytime I reboot the phone says micro sd is corrupted/damaged and need to format it.
I try 4 micro SD of various size, I even try to make it adoptable with root thools, bu nothing.
I googled and I found almost nothing, just one on samsung board that fixed it formatting the SD with PC (and I try...nothing changed).
Now,the only thing that I have to try is to format again, restore the app by google account and try with Titanium backup (that on my LG G5 doen't works since a year or more ago...).
Someone has the same problem or suggestion?
Thank you very much <3
