Anyone else having issues with using the s pen to do things like write text messages? When I begin to write, the app never recognizes anything and converts it to text. This worked fine prior to root.
I checked for samsung keyboard updates. I already have the latest one. Is there a process I may have frozen that gets tied in with it?
I use this all day at work and I'm rooted and have not had any issues at all.
Does it recognize that the pen is out? Go into the keyboard settings and ensure "Pen Detection" is checked.

Yes. I can use the pen for s note, air command, etc. Pen detection is not turned off. Even if I write the text with my finger, it shows up, but never gets translated. See below.
I would prefer not to restore if need be. I went through titanium to see if i may have frozen something that uses this functionality, but no dice.
EDIT
Ok, I went ahead and did a factory restore. Still rooted. Still not working.

That's weird. Sorry, I don't know what to tell ya
If I can remember correctly there was another post about this somewhere. I had to uninstall the keyboard updates then reinstall then reboot and it has worked since then. I'll check and see if I can find the post for ya after I get back from eating lunch with my daughter.

I had this issue originally and the recommendation I found was to update "Samsung keyboard Note 3/10.1". When I looked it was already up to date, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled the keyboard. I think I may have also needed to kill app with the keyboard open before it started working.
Maybe this will help

You will lose any tweaks and installs you have done since you first unboxed the phone, yes.
Maybe it's just worth trying to change the keyboard language?
You know, there's a keyboard icon in the centre at the bottom of the screen when you are typing something?
There is also a small arrow near that icon. If you click that, it has to show you some options, among which is the option to change the input settings.
(At least it is so on a UK ROM)
Hope it helps

Okay Guys..... Rather than start a New Topic on my problem I found this topic which is titled correctly.
I have a horrendous problem with the keyboard every now and then failing to load that has only started today.
After I have used the Keyboard for whatever reason at that particular time I then put the Phone back into sleep mode.
Later, when I switch the Phone back on and again need to use the Keyboard I press the Keyboard symbol at the foot of the screen but it fails to load the Keyboard and thus you can not enter any text.
The only way to use the Keyboard is to then perform a Soft-Reset and then it works...... until later when we have to repeat the whole affair.....
It does not happen all the time but as an example I have used the Keyboard today on 6 separate occasions.
These occasions are when the machine has been put to sleep, woken and the Keyboard to be loaded.
Anyway, of these 6 separate occasions it has failed to load 4 times.
That means I have had to carry out a Soft-Reset 4 times today.
I have not installed anything since the problem started today and am at a loss why it is playing up in this manner.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I really like the feature that when you hover the S Pen over a text input field, like text messaging or web address bar, you get a little pen icon that allows you to hand-write the text if you click on it.
However, it has disappeared. I am rooted and was playing with different launchers like Nova and iLauncher. It worked just fine for a while, but now it disappeared. I switched back to TW, but still no dice.
This has happened before. It will just disappear as an option until I perform a factory reset. Then it appears again, but only for a day or two and then it goes away again.
Any ideas?
I'm rooted and running ADW E x and I used the S-pen to write this message, so I'm pretty sure it's not rooting that's caused this for you. I have my doubts it has anything to do with a launcher either. I wish I could be more help.

Make sure this option is still checked under "S-Pen". If that doesn't work you could try booting into recovery and clearing cache.

Yep, that's what it was, those options were not on for some reason.
Now it's working again. Thanks!!
I have a second Note 3 that I just bought so I can switch back and forth as they get clogged with junk. I'll be free to wipe one clean, then start using it while I transfer all my stuff over from the old one.
Anyhow, I am coming from 4.4.2 and upgraded the new one to the latest Jasmin rom. One thing that I don't like is the new Samsung keyboard. Titanium says they are the same version, but the new keyboard doesn't have the little punctuations that show up on a long press of a key. If I want to use an apostrophe, I have to press "Sym", then select the " ' ", then switch back to "abc" to keep typing. I used to be able to just long press on "v", and an apostrophe would pop up. I think I went through every option I can think of, but did I miss something? Can I "enable" an option somewhere?

Swiftkey seems to be the thing to use for right now. I even tried to use Titanium backup to force the old keyboard into the new phone. It said it's in there, but there's no difference. Oh well. Now if I can just figure out a way to get rid of the predictive suggestions at the top...

My phone is stock, no changes other than a few apps have been disabled.
I am getting an unwanted popup after I receive a call. It wants me to install Instagram, or another program. I have scanned with Malwarebytes but it finds no viruses.
Any help in getting rid of this appreciated. Please see the attachment.
Thanks.

Do you have ES File Explorer (think I see it in the background)? Try uninstalling that app and see if the ads persist. ES File Explorer may be presenting adverts and popups.
Thanks, but that did not work. Onto the next guess!
are you using a custom launcher? some of them provide ads on your ohone.. also try removing any apps that are known for showing popups
Chinese apps tend to have overlays like that, especially those cleaning/boosting apps. Get rid of those and see.
When it pops up, do you see anything more in the expanded notification bar? If yes, then press and hold on it and tap on "app info/detail". From there you can see which app is displaying these pop ups and disable notifications.
Thanks, Using ADW. Removed and still there.
Don't have any of those, but good guess.
No way to expand the notification nor any way to get more information. Talked to Motorola support and they had me clean the cache and that did nothing either.
Last case resort, start uninstalling apps one by one with the newest one first. When the pop ups stop, you've found the problem.

Prior to using the last resort method provided by riggerman, you can view how much data/wifi each app is using that is currently installed on your device. This can be done by navigating to network info in your settings. Then simply compare that data to which app is eating up your memory at the time of the pop up. A more in depth method would to use an app that is designed to gather in depth data on installed apps specifically for the user, such an app would be Android Addon Detector available in the Play Store (link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.denper.addonsdetector). I wont write up the way to do it cause I don't have that kind of time at the moment, and it'll do you good to teach yourself given the internet and the app FAQ and developers site because knowledge is power, and knowledge also helps to quickly deal with little piece of bull**** that land on your path in life, such as annoying popups
Removed 2 backup apps and seems to have gone away, thanks.
Had the same popup problem. I said STOP in response it has gone away.
The phone suffered water damage and it's all green, I believe the digitizer is now broken for the whole 80% of the bottom screen or so because I can't enter a password or anything. I can pull down the quick menu and turn on the light, but after swiping from the middle of the screen to top then pressing the flashlight location, it still toggles.
What I need most are the contacts, though some messages, images, and app data would be nice.
The phone SHOULD have been in developer mode, but a program I used to try mirroring the screen said to enable it. No root.
Apps I've tried:
Smart Switch
ApowerMirror
SideSync
Vysor
FonePaw
Also tried looking into simply using HDMI/ MHL, looks like S7 is the one phone from Samsung that doesn't support it. There might be some wires that allow it but I haven't found any.
It's on 8.0 Oreo, don't know the exact version.
Any help is appreciated!
Hi, you can do one trick with OEM otg adapter which you got on samsung package wich looks like this:
https://www.shopsmartuk.com/wp-cont...E-UG930-GH96-09728A-www.shopsmartuk.com-3.jpg
and with usb mouse.
So what you are trying here is to blind enable usb debugging option. If you can see something on the screen it is good because with the mouse you can control your device.
Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70-W240rcPc
If you are not sure where is your settings you can search on the internet for your device and version where it is located. Goof luck.

Thanks for this! I've tried using the mouse to swipe up so the phone would unlock so I could just connect the phone to the PC and navigate through screenshots.
I've also unlocked the phone through Samsung's cloud website, can't see if it worked and backup takes forever and does nothing for some reason. No luck, and thanks for the quick reply btw.
Still looking for some suggestions
