Root version 11.3.0.0? - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

I just picked up a 7" fire hd and researching how to root and all I see are version 7.x.x.x.. My device came with 11.3.0.0. Has anyone rooted with this version??

That's the new kindle fire hdx... We haven't even rooted it yet.

I don't think that's the HDX. The HDX has a software version of 13.x.x
With that being said, I don't think there's any harm in trying to root with Bin4ry to see if it works.

Then what is it?

Are you sure its not separated into 11.x.x and 13.x.x based on the different device size? (7” and 8.9”) because a few days ago someone else had the same thing on theirs but I swear it was an hdx because of the resolution size and such, looked different.

You have the 2013 Kindle Fire HD with no camera. This section is mostly for the 2012 KFHD (you can tell by camera).
Sent from my TF300T on CyanogenMod 10.2 using Tapatalk 4

Its not a HDX its the 2013 no camera model. Is there a section for this model? I couldn't find one.

O that is very interesting, I was wrong, after some research I just found out that for some reason they made a second generation HD model, don't know why the heck the would do that. Guess it was released alongside the hdx models and no one mentioned it? Guess we ha e more models than we thought to try to obtain root on.

You have the newest version of the kfhd kinda like the kf2 is sold as the same product as the kindle fire one. The closest section we have to that model is the hdx section right now. Hang in there I'm sure root will come.
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app

It will be rooted sometime in the near future I'm sure. For now, you can side load the Gmail app, some Google books, Google Magazines and that's about it as far as Gapps go.

In the new version thats not an option (theres not an about option). You can find firmware version in the system update menu and thats about it.
currently its on 11.3.03

I can't even get ADB to work with this version. I've followed the instructions on like 5 different pages and no dice. I even downloaded the entire google sdk and downloaded drivers from the addon page for amazon devices. Windows 7 64 bit. Nothing works. It is incredibly frustrating.

I too have the firee HD 7" 2013 model with version 11.3.0.3. Haven't had any success finding any answers either. I was told this was "THE" place to look for a root option. Guess we will just have to keep waiting. I'm new at this but I have been reading a lot out there and I would like to give a shout out for all the people who make this site happen. Thanks guys.

I have the same Fire HD 2013, can not copy Vending.apk to system\app, no root access.

Rooting has not been verified with the 2013 model Kindle's. It's not recommended yet. When an exploit is found it will spread like wildfire. Everyone sit tight, you don't want to brick your device.

any one try cydia impactor?

Same issue - KFHD 2013
v 11.3.0.4
For now I am sideloading apps installed via Box / Dropbox
Installed Nova Launcher but can't change background wallpaper
Hoping KFHD 2013 gets its own forum soon to avoid additional confusion like I this. My purchase was made after researching on XDA, but the lack of organization failed to uncover the differences.

Disguise my fire as an Android phone to use an app?

I am using the cm7 rom on my kindle fire. The one that whistlestop posted. I am trying to use an app from the Android market. I can download it to my fire but when I open it I get the message that it is not supported on this device. I know I read that it is not supported on tablets, but I was curious if I can "disguise" my tablet to look like an Android phone that is supported by the app. Thanks.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
Which app are you trying to install? Have you tried getting the APK for it and manually installing it?
It is AppRedeem. On the info page the app says it does not currently support Android tablets but I wasnt sure if I could make my fire appear to be an Android phone so it will work. I have downloaded it from the market and I have also manually installed via adb with the apk but when I open the app it tells me it is not supported on my device.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
Well I did some editing on my prop and manage to get my device to appear as a Samsung phone in the market but still no luck with getting the app to see my fire as a phone.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
When I go to the Market it says it is compatible with the Kindle Fire both in stock and ICS. Just thought you might find that interesting.
app
Have you tried cm7 or miui? Both are phone roms tweaked a bit for phones and could possibly solve the problem. I think that the problem isn't making your kindle look like a phone because that would only allow you to download the app which you already did. Good luck
There is thread about getting apps to work on the ICS roms. I was gonna do some editing to see if I can get whatsapp to run on cm7. Same thing, tablets not supported.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Disregard that editing nonsense. Another thread specifically about whatsapp said to backup the app on a running phone with titanium backup and then send the three backed up files to the fire and restore app+ data. Worked perfectly.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Thanks guyute74. I dont have an android phone so I cant do it myself. If anyone with an android phone and titanium wanted to back it up and send me the files I would really appreciate it. Shoot me a pm and I can give you my email.

Kindle Fire UK Root & Update?

Hi
I have been reading this forum today and haven't managed to find an answer that is 100% confirmed.
I am close to buying a Kindle Fire and live in the UK.
If I buy it can I unlock it with the Boritto unlock if it is version 6.2.2 or does it only work if I was in the US? I read something that suggests I need to be in the US to do this.
Also, is there a proven way for me to block Amazon from forcing an update to the device?
Many thanks

Assuming there is nothing stopping you from downloading burrito root I can't imagine what location would have to do with rooting it. I believe there are a few different methods that people have tried though I cannot speak to how well they work. Easiest way to guarantee amazon doesn't update it is to flash a non-amazon rom lol, but as I said others may know more regarding killing OTA
Really? So you think its as simple as putting a ROM on i.e. CM7, something that isn't stock and the update won't get through?
If so that sounds pretty simple...

Let's put it this way, I bought my kindle in late december; amazon pushed an update, I've never once seen
Flash cm9/cm7/miui once rooted. and you wont see updates from amazon.
Thanks guys that's really good news. It would be pointless for me to keep standard as I wouldn't get any amazon services being in the UK.
Next question, how are you finding the tablet with a flashed ROM, is it smooth running with no issues?

i bought my kindle preordered last november. in a couple of weeks (no custom rom atm) i just use stock rom with minimum tweak. as expected amazon market is useless even if we using us ID. apart of that, all went well until i installed custom rom; cm7. so far so good. i can run most of my fav apps, listening to music, hd video and other simple browsing and reading.
stock adw launcher is a tittle bit sluggish so i just use launcherpro which performing as it should without any hiccup.

I lived in Saudi Arabia and I bought mine in December last year 2011. I rooted it and install CM7 just after I received it. Currently I am using CM9 (ics) in daily bases with no problem. For sure, I do have a complete backup of the original stock ROM, if I need to go back.

Even though you live outside U.S you can still enjoy the different amazon services like videos & app market search for "World Wide Kindle Fire" in the android market.
Those services are the added value of this device, don't give up on it .

Thanks I had never heard of that. So the unroot and root, how long would that take?
Also the reviews seem a bit mixed, lots saying or doesn't work. It must be problems with the server...

The unroot, root process takes less then a second...
The app use several different servers, so if one server doesn't work you can always switch to the next one... also you can enter your own proxy server manually.

Are you talking about the one geometry hashcode
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
Didn't mean to say geometry spell check changed it
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
Chrome doesn't work in most ICS ROMs because it requires HWA, which they don't have yet.
The new kernel 3.0 that's in development/testing does support HWA, but it's ridden with bugs, so it's not a very good idea to flash its ROM unless you really want to test it.
But ive gotten it to work on both cm9/7
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
If you gotten it to work on cm9 then please share how, because again with the lack of hwa in any of the 2.x.x kernels there is no way that you have gotten it to work. The only kernel that provides hwa at the moment is hashcodes 3.0 kernel which has been released for testing and development and is no where near complete. So with this said you may have gotten it to work on a cm7 rom but no way on a cm9 rom without a 3.0 kernel that is still in development.

Like the post above says, where's the screenshots because this is simply impossible without hardware acceleration!! Why do you think hashcode has been working on the 3.0 kernel in the first place? You might as well tell us that you have Netflix working too haha. Not trying to be a douche but I'm telling you it doesn't work with 2.x.x kernels. If you don't believe me go over to hashcodes new user thread in the general section and look at the original post. One of the very first things he instructs users to test to see if the new kernel has any changes is to download the chrome and see if it works.

To clarify: Chrome uses RenderScript extensively. And the 2.6.35 kernel's graphics libraries (from Gingerbread) don't support it very well. Hence Chrome is buggy for almost all Gingerbread kernel-based ICS builds.
The reason Chrome works in the new 3.0 kernel build is that the graphics libraries are brand new and support RenderScript perfectly. Hardware codecs are still not running correctly in the new kernel (among a pleathora of other things).
So the difference for Chrome is RenderScript support and not hardware codecs.
Here are some screenshots of Chrome
Thank you I think the one I downloaded got the image change because it said chrome and has the chrome image

I'm guessing it's probably just some bug fixes like 7.3.1, or something minor along those lines.

Does someone know yet the changes of the new update?.
KIndle Fire HD Update is happening
Updated to 10.3.2? It seems there is even a NEWER update! :crying:
There is a new update for KF & KF HD!
KF2: 10.4.1
KF HD 7: 7.4.1
KF HD 8.9: 8.4.1
Here is the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...x36E18S96DJXEU
Here is what it says:
"We have a new, free software update available for Kindle Fire 2nd Generation, Kindle Fire HD 7", and Kindle Fire HD 8.9: In addition to bug fixes and performance improvements, the software update adds the following features to your Kindle Fire:
* Language Support for Canadian English and Canadian French - You can now change your device language to Canadian English and Canadian French.
* Show Battery Percentage in the Status Bar - You can now see the total percentage of battery life left when you enable this feature from the Device menu."
"This update automatically downloads and installs for Kindle Fire 7", Kindle Fire HD 7" and Kindle Fire HD 8.9" customers; however, you can also manually download the software and update your device using the USB cable."
. . . According to some of the posts at the site, it seems to add a digital battery meter, but not many other differences for the user (unless you're Canadian, then you get a more robust language package).
I have not been updated, but I am running Kinology now, and also my update file has been renamed!

If anyone has solved it please post it, as I miss my Wallpaper!!!
