Hello!
Is it possible to remove the Google account after rooting? I'm giving the reader as a gift so I'd like to use my account to set up and provide them with it to log into afterwards.
Failing this (I may just be able to use their account if I really have to) - Is it possible to have *no* account associated with the NST? Or, at the very least, remove automatic sync/notifications - The owner most certainly will not want/need to be alerted to their emails on the reader!
Thank you!

Sorry not something I have tried. I thought BnN account email should be same as google account to play nice so I setup everything for my relatives using their account details (I know what they are as I setup both for them anyway).
I do have this link bookmarked in my Nook dir for future investigation which might interest you as similar topics.

Forgive me if this has been done before, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. Basically, I have created a new email account in the "messaging" program on my O2 XDA Mini-S.
What I want to do, is remove this account. However, try as I might, I just can't find the option anywhere. I looked in the manual, I've looked around the web, so I thought I'd ask you guys if you know how.
I don't have any email programs on my PC, such as Outlook, if that's a problem?
Any help would be appreciated on this matter.
EDIT: I just worked out how to do it. So simple in the end, why don't they put stuff like that in the manual?
Anyway, I guess a mod or whatever can close this thread now.
ok so the answer is...
call me stupid but i still can't find the delete option... I setup a gmail account on imap in error and can't remove the account.

Open Messaging then Menu>Tools>Options>tap the gmail acount for few secs and it will give you the option to delete, and you're done.
Hope it helped.
thanks
Thanks! That did it.
I've searched a few times and can't really find much on this, but I'm about to root my G1 (the T-Mobile version) and that means fully wiping it. I've got a few apps including open home and SNesoid on there that are paid for and linked to a gmail account I'm wanting to get rid of. When I reinstall everything on the phone I want to use a fresh gmail account with a new user name but I'm not sure how I would get those paid apps transferred to that account. Anyone know of a way to do this?

Well there is no way you can get them from the market back because thats all linked to your account and with a new account you would have to buy them again. Make backups of all your apk's and for the protected ones pull them using adb.
If I am correct, all you have to do is "relink your market account to your "credit card" info and it should be there. :]
OK perfect. I will probably do both just to be safe. Thanks a lot.
There seems to be a method detailed in the thread here:

Technically the credit card is on your google checkout account, not your gmail account. And as long as you've paid for an app (and not refunded it) you should be able to get updates for it on that google account as long as the developer provides them.
ok thanks for that but would i still get the app updates if i cancel my google checkout account?

It's likely that when you attempt to redownload an app you had previously purchased but uninstalled that the market backend parses your google checkout account for a record of having purchased an app. Since there's no way currently to remove checkout from a Google account, there's probably no way you could get into a situation where your checkout history became unaccessible for the market backend.
Of course until someone has any actual experience in this matter, all I wrote above is just an educated guess.
I just flashed a new ROM and configurated it with my Google Apps Account.
Then I went to Market and searched for a app I had bought with my normal Google Account which is connected to Checkout.
Market asked me for a gmail Account because the Apps account does not work for buying at the Market and I entered the GMail account informations and still had to buy the app I still have bought before?!
How can I tell Market to show me the apps I still have bought? And yes, I bought it with the same credit card, I did not make any change at checkout
I would contact the developer of said app and explain the situation and provide your info and see if he will honor it. I don't see where a dev would have a problem sending you an apk providing you proved that you purchased it.
got it with with Tutorial:

thanks for that very helpful response. ill be sure to return the favor.
UPDATE:
i figured it out. you have to use the live update icon and go into the "switch accounts" prompt. then simply click through without actually creating an account and it will delete the current account.
i cant believe how backwards this is but thats how to do it.
best,
jason

What does he mean when he says there is no google account associated with that in the first line?
I have done this, but sooo far, have not been able to see what he means by that.
Thanks for any reply

When you start up an Android phone it ask you to log into the account, which will push all of your Google Information to the phone. Which is BAD for posting on a public site like this.
so basically he put the phone back to a factory status, rooted the phone, flash a recovery image and did a nandroid back up w/o logging into their google account. so if you need a stock MySense ROM as issued by T-Mobile then that is the one to download.
Thank you!
I just liked the Stock Rom, don't think I needed it. Am I fine without this?
Will google still update my contact list, I am guessing the calendar and contacts is all I care about.

As long as you sign into the google account, YES. The only reason they posted "w/o signing in" is so you cannot pull any of their private information off of the nandroid back up. but everything else will work as expected.
I understand now! Thanks a ton Neidlinger! I was having problems with google syncing last night, and it made me think back to that post.
But might have been a temp glitch on Goog's end.
Thank you
I do not use any sort of other domains, just my home internet and nothing else on my phone. I do not have a admin.google.com accesible account. I am not a business apps or educational apps user. I am just the regular [email protected] user and my google now 'help and feedback' says google now on my Domain has been disabled. Also, I have 4.4 KRT16S. I have no idea what happened or how it happened but it did. I have searched the internet and most of them ask to login to admin.google.com and go to settings and so on but my google account just cannot login and have the access to admin.google.com
Any help is highly appreciated. . .

Hi,
I had this problem too and there was only one way I could fix it.
Install Google Search v2.6 and update it later if you want.
Cheers.

Yeah, did the same a couple of days back and got it back. I was hoping Google would fix the problem, waited till 4.4.2 and had absolutely nothing. The search app itself is screwed up pretty bad. Thank you for the reply though. :good::good:
