[Q] Buggy PAC? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, I recently rooted and installed the PAC rom, via NRT. Everything was doing just fine, until I flashed GApps. Now I'm having trouble with the Play Store (no connection, retry), and some apps (Google + and AOSP keyboard, for what I remember) keep FC, even though I haven't opened them... I managed to install GO keyboard through the NRT, but this Play Store thing really bothers me... Any help?

What gapps did you use? For pac, pa gapps are recommended:
http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps/pa_gapps-full-4.3-20131010-signed.zip
Flash that and it should fix the issues

google apps won't download for defy ics

Hi
I rooted my green lens defy and i'm currently running CM9-NIGHTLY-120416-Defy.zip.
I backed up all of my old settings and apps from froyo with titanium backup.Tried to reinstall gmail and maps but they do not work properly.
Also i can't download anything from the restored appbrain marketplace because it says i do not have android market installed, also tried via my browser, it says the download will start but never does. When i use recovery and load my old rom the apps are waiting and download fine.
Will i be ok to install gapps-ics-20120317 and get my google apps back and will this solve my problem?
That would be the wisest thing to do..
Was just confused, because the instructions given in all the threads I've read only mention flashing the gapps file if you have a defy±.My phone is an 18 month old defy. Please can someone else confirm it's OK to flash.
I made the same mistake, caused a right mess with force closes and the like. I started again, went through the instructions, but added in the flash gapps (same one you mention above), and now my phone works fine (apart from some minor bugs).
I'm currently using the same CM9 nightly, and have a green lens Defy.

Gapps have nothing to do with the phone model..For every Android version, the specific gapps is released.. So the gapps for ICS, can be flashed to phone running ICS, doesn't matter if its a defy or defy+
Sent from my Defy+ using Tapatalk 2
I had the same issues with Play store to download app a couple times. In app manager, select Google play store and clean cache and data. That`s work for me.
Otherwise try wipe data/cache then flash the last nightly from Epsylon for defy froyo, then CM7 Kernel then the last gapps-ics-20120422 then battery ics fix then reboot and restore your app That should work fine
Hope been helpfull

Thanks everyone, all working fine after installing the latest gaps. This was my first root and i'm very grateful for the help i received but the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100# could have been a bit clearer.
Anyway, as usual the problems encountered have helped me learn a lot more than i knew before.

[Q] Missing Play Store with CM 11 M8 on Nook Color EMMC

I used this guide to install the CM11 on Nook Color EMMC. I used the following packages.
cwm-6.0.4.8-encore-emmc+sd-v3
cm-11-20140708-SNAPSHOT-M8-encore
gapps-kk-20140606-signed

Everything seems to working fine except that Google Play Store is missing. None of the other Google Apps (e.g. Gmail, Plus) work as the Nook Color is not registered to Google echo system. I tried side loading Play Store and Google Play Services. With that I was able to register and have the Play Store work once. However it isn't working reliably after several reboots. It crashes most of the time. I have tried using M7 but ended up with same results. I also tried pa_gapps-stock-4.4.4-20140716-signed.zip but it complained about not enough space. I used smaller version of it but like earlier everything else except Play Store gets installed. I have tried flashing gapps multiple times as well.
How can I do a clean install of CM11 and have a working version of Play Store?
After a few trial and errors, I was able to use M8 and gapps modular micro (pa-gapps) and everything is working fine. It seems that the standard gapps was the problem. As soon as I did a clean install of M8 and gapps micro, the reboot asked about Google account and everything worked. I tired a few combinations of wiping the cache, factory reset so I am not sure if that was it but in the last install I cleared everything before starting the ROM flash.

[Q] Installing any app makes the phone to reboot

Hey guys.
Phone is CyanogenMod 11 (Android 4.4) and Paranoid Android (Android 4.4)
What happened:
Phone crashed (screen became full of colors and phone restarted). After reboot everything on the phone was gone - GApps, all my apps, save a few of like a 100. Basically a fresh CM install without GApps.
What I did was flash GApps (correct package). Everything worked fine until I've tried to install an app. Phone immediately rebooted.
I've tried wiping everything, doing factory resets, installing older CM builds, now I've even installed Paranoid Android ROM. Still the same problem persist:
If I try to install any app from Play Store or just from an apk with I file manager - phone immediately reboots. The only way I can now use it is by disabling Play Store so it doesn't start to update something
Has anyone ever encountered this?
Is this the right forum to ask?

Maybe you just need to flash gapps right after the rom. I flashed cm without gapps once and when i booted back into recovery to flash gapps my phone crashed.
Doing them one after the other is the way to go.

Thanks for suggestion, I've tried that several times, didn't help...
I had the opposite after a crash on a nexus 4 over a year ago.. phone would reboot unistalling any app wether by play store or settings/apps.
after trying everything for most of a day, the only thing that fixed it was formatting the data partition.. not wiping, there's a format data option in twrp

[Q] Problem with CM12 Play Store Error 505

Hi Community,
maybe somebody can help me with my problem
What happend:
I had a LG G2 (D802) with CM11M12 installed on it. Also Tasker and Taskwatch were installed. I decided to upgrade to the first CM12 official nightly. I installed it over TWRP without a full wipe (only Cache and Dalvik). Something with the Play Store didn't work. I wanted to install an app (I don't know anymore which it was) but it didn't install cause of error 505. I thought it was because I flashed it over CM11.
So this time I made a full wipe, pushed CM12 and GApps (KK) through ADB into my storage and installed it clean. It didn't start. There was an error at the homescreen. Setup Wizard or something like that crashed every second.
I flashed TWRP 2.8.3.0 and tried it again. Same result.
I made a full wipe again. Pushed CM11M12, CM12 and GApps through ADB and installed CM11M12. The phone booted. I installed CM12 and GApps. Now it worked. Everything is just fine, BUT I can't install Tasker and Taskwatch. If I install Tasker and try to install Taskwatch, then I get the 505 error. When I uninstall Tasker I can install Taskwatch, but can't install Tasker anymore. I uninstalled Tasker via ADB. Same result.
Edit 01/10/2015: I did a full wipe (cache, data, dalvik, internal storage) and format data. I installed todays CM12 and LP GApps. This time it booted and worked without problems with setup wizard. Problem with error 505 remains.
Question:
What can I do to install both apps and not only one of them?
Thank you in advance.
Well I'm on the latest CM12 nightly +LP gapps and I get error 504 when installing certain programs like facebook, viber but not all of them give me this error. On some I get it on the first try and then it works. I deleted playstore cache and all the crap I could find over web but nothing helped. Wiped/factory reset still nothing.

Seems like another problem. 505 is related to a permission error. 504 is bad gateway, but I don' know the answer for your problem. Maybe you could try to install another GApps Version. Can you install those apps through Amazon App Store or via an apk file? Because I can't do that, the permession is still present. And I can install both application, but not together.
In fact I don't even know whose fault it is (error 505), could be one of these apps or Cyanogenmod or Google. As far as the stock 5.0 or a Cyanogenmod Snapshot will come out, I will try to install both apps again or has anyone a better solution?
Still the same problem
Thought it would maybe work with the newest Nightly (20150207), but I was wrong. Wiped everything, installed with gapps. Can install Tasker but not Pebble TaskWatch. Or Taskwatch without Tasker (which makes no sense).
Can you solve it? I have the same problem

Lost Stock Apps

Ok so i just flashed my Nexus 7 2012 grouper with the latest AOSP rom and i must've be over-zealous with my drive wiping in TWRP because i accidentally lost all of the stock apps e.g. browser, email etc.
Installed Gapps pico just to get the play store and i was hoping to run mostly off stock apps but when i fired it up all stock apps were gone.
So..... how do i get these apps back?
Yes i am an amateur at this sort of thing
Cheers
