Hello all,
I have the GT-I9505 LTE it's been rooted and has the following setup:
Android 4.2.2
Baseband I9505XXUAMDM
Kernel:
3.4.0-526204
[email protected] #1
Fri April 26 KST 2013
Build: JDQ39.I9505XXUAMDM
Recovery: Philz
I messed it up and basically it wouldn't boot, I then just decided to start from scratch.
However this stock rom is crashing all the time, often I have to boot into recovery first and it's battery drains rapidly!
Now, I need to flash it again I think but don't know how to proceed, I'm guessing I use one of the pre-rooted roms from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
But what one? Also will the roms on the other mentioned thread have built in support to move apps to sd
I kinda regret installing philz recovery now as most roms warn me not to use it! So to summarise I just want the phone to be empty and rooted with CWM. Then I will go about getting either Paranoid Android or CM when I feel there is a stable enough release
I'm getting mad confused!
Any help would be appreciated and if this is in the wrong section, I do apologise and can a mod please move it.
Thanks

You are right about that rom link in your post, it can be very confusing for sure.
If I were you I would first get the phone back to a stable state before doing
anything else.
What I would do is to Odin flash the official stock I9505XXUAMDM firmware
which you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252982
The above link has easy to follow step by step instructions and the download link for the
SamMobile official Odin flash stock rom as well as the windows Odin software.
After flashing the stock odin flash rom the phone will need to be re-rooted.
Good luck!
Just thought I'd post back with my update, seems my battery was faulty so that might have been the issue, anyhow back to stock and all working good
Time to mod again I guess haha cheers

Hello Everyone,
I have few questions which I know might have been answered before (and I appologize for that) but after seeing different responses, I am a bit confused. So here are my questions:
1) I've updated my galaxy note with the official ICS via OTA but after updating it my phone has gone slower and laggy and facing the problem of fast battery draining. So I've decided to install a custom Rom. So please suggest which ROM is best which is stable, fast and have a good battery. I have downloaded Rocket Rom V7. How is it?
2) To Install this ROM I know I have to root my phone but I have read that a lot of ppl bricked their phone. So is it safe to root this phone and if yes what is the best procedure. I have seen posted in other threads that some kernels are not safe. I am posting my Kernel version can u please tell me if it is safe to root and if yes which is the best way.
Android Version: 4.0.3
Kernel Version: 3.0.15-N7000DDLP8-CL551076
Build Number: IML74K.DDLPA
Kindly suggest. Thanks in advance .
Can any one please help....
I suggest you to use LiquidSmooth 2.3. Brilliant rom, the best I have tried on Note. But notice it only got english language.
/CK
Yes! its totally safe when done in the right manner....download stock LP3 rom...GB..from stock roms thread...download pc odin and unlockroot software from unlockroot.com...
Now put your mobile to download mode..vol up then lock then menu...press all 3 until you see a android bot...click continue...
Make sure u hav kies installed in pc...open pc odin software...connect ur phone to the pc..click on PDA in pc odin and direct it to the LP3 rom you downloaded..and click on start...wait till everything is done..your phone restarts in GB mod...enable usb debugging and connect it again..open unlock root software and click root..
You have a perfectly rooted phone and safe too...now just follow the steps of RR...download RR and redpill recovery..go to CWM. .vol down and lock and menu...flash redpill..go to advanced and hit Reboot Recovery. .go to wipe menu and do all 3wipes...flash RR..

Hi All,
I've done literally weeks of research on this, so hopefully I've not missed any easy posts, but I want to check my approach and ask a final question. This is my daily phone, and while I know the risks and issues with custom roms, I want to get it right. Hope someone can advise.
ROM I want to install is Quarx's JB 4.1.2 CM10.
Phone I have is UK Motorola Defy (Red Lens, original):
System version: Blur_Version_2.21.0.MB525.Retail.en.GB
Model Number: MB525
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: EPU93ST2_U_03.02.00
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
My plan is:
1. Official upgrade to Froyo - it seems this is not yet done on mine, and custom ROMs require its Kernel, I read
2. Root phone - SuperOneClick
3. Titanium Backup - Needs Root
4. ClockWorkMod Recovery - Needs Root, and gives me Nandroid Backup capability in BootLoader
5. Nandroid Backup - this should provide me a route back to stock (* see question below)
6. Flash ROM - this will give me CM10 based on Jelly Bean 4.2.1
Question is, despite reading many threads, I'm still confused on CG versions and SMG file versions (CG##.smg). I do want to be able to flash back to stock after this, in case I want to sell the phone - if I flash up to Quarx's CM10 JB 4.1.2, what CG version is it and is it higher than I can possibly get back to stock from? Or can I find a Fixed SBF of a Stock ROM that will let me go back? How can I best prepare for this?
Anything else to be aware of or concerned about?
Thanks very much.
Steve.
The easiest approach is to directly flash cm10 first and check off it works(you can flash back your stock sbf if there's any problem) because CM10 WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CG VERSION
The potential problem you can face(which can not stop you from stock sbf flash) is an incompatibility of 2ndboot with your stock kernel.
If you run into that problem (which I think should not occur) you will have to flash a compatible sbf, with higher cg version and a compatible stock kernel.

Thanks - good to know CM10 has no CG version. I expected the developers to want to get rid of that kind of limitation as soon as they could!
Hmmm, so could someone confirm, that Quarx's CM10 will flash directly over the stock 2.1 Eclair ROM as listed above (with root/CWM), and doesn't need Froyo deployed as a base? That would really help if so - then I have no further considerations and I can just get on with it. I'll take it carefully and I'd rather not be faced with non-booting etc the first time round.
I believe wifi tethering doesn't work on it, though, or there's some problem with restarting regarding wifi tether. That's a shame, but maybe an app like Barnacle or OpenGarden can work instead...?
You could try it yourself by taking a Nandroid backup and if you face the non booting problem then flash stock sbf+ restore. Beware that sometimes first boot hangs or bootloops and in such cases you can fix the problem with a battery pull, or data wipe respectively
Open garden works without issues
Hit thanks!
XDA,
I am currently running PA 3.69 (Android 4.2.2) with stock PA kernel and a .48 modem, and I am looking to flash the new CM11 M3 snapshot (4.4) with franco.Kernel and put on MultiROM with Ubuntu Touch. I have been out of the custom ROM scene for a while and I would like to make sure I get this right the first time.
Do I need to flash a 4.4 modem before I update the OS? Then, do I just flash the .ZIP from CM's website from within CWM? Or should I grab a factory image from Google and start from there?
Also, should I flash the franco.Kernel immediately after rebooting into the ROM, or does it not matter? I had problems with flashing kernels on my old phone after the OS had already been running for a long time.
Thanks in advance to all of you guys, you're an awesome community to be a part of.

Both kk modem and bootloader aren't mandatory but they are recommended
While you're in recovery flash the desired kernel after the rom but also you can do it after reboot
And... There are help threads here where you can start rather than opening another topic

This is still a damn good tablet yet every Rom I try and flash beyond 3.2 Blisspop fails. They just hang at the Samsung boot screen.
People leave their topics with no caution to anyone. It's no wonder the people I directed here no longer message me.

You might have to reflash stock and start over. I, as an example, am running 7.1.1 on my 530NU and I just flashed stock just for the fun of it. In the past 4 hours, I've successfully flashed stock twice and 3 custom Roms. Flash stock through Odin and flash Dirty Unicorn or CrDroid. Both of them are running like clocks on the 530NU.
Sorry but I'm a huge Noob and really need some help. Can I use a Samsung S7 in place of a computer to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 SM-T530NU? ( Android version 5.0.2 ; Kernel version 3.4.0-10845349 [email protected]#1 ; Build number LRX22G. T530NUUEU1BQC1 ) The phone is brand new and I want to start with the tablet first, thank you.

Hi,
It looks like you have SM-G900F S5 model (Qualcomm Snapdragon / klte) with latest Polish unbranded android 6.0.1 on it.
I doubt if you are ready for flashing any custom staff to your phone as you even can't identify a proper custom recovery ....
Saying: "I'm a noob" doesn't help. Before flashing anything on my phone I was reading a lot in order to understand what I was going to do so I encourage you to do the same.
1. Before flashing anything you need to understand what is Samsung KNOX (in general, after flashing anything custom like recovery, kernel etc your KNOX flag will be triggered so if you have valid Samsung guarantee - it will be lost) - google it and read more. If you don't like this situation - stop here, otherwise go to point no 2;
2. In order to flash a custom recovery for the first time you need to flash .tar version of it via odin pc app - latest version take from here:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s5/SM-G900F/XEO/download/G900FXXS1CQD1/130602/
(Look for headline: "Instructions")
Find out more how to flash with odin -> google it and read;
3. Your custom recovery version you can find here (I recommend TWRP):
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/klte/ (use the first file with .tar extension)
Read before about "TWRP odin install method" here:
https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys5qualcomm.html
Now you are good to go for custom recovery flashing;
4. When you already have TWRP installed look for a custom Rom of your choice.
You need to decide by your own what you expect from your new rom. Look here for some custom roms and read their descriptions in rom threads:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5 -> look for roms compatible with your phone model inside following subforums: S5 Development (Snapdragon), S5 Original Development or S5 Unified Development.
When you finally choose the rom, install it following installation instructions from the particular rom's thread.
Good luck.
Hi Many40!
Thank you for your reply!
I very much apreciate your tutorial (it's almost impossible to screw up). Will give it a go!
Once again, thanks!!
