I have the Verizon variant and I'm on CleanROM
So I did a little research into how I can change the status bar icons. I was hoping I could get some confirmation before I start messing with system files. Here is the process as far as I understand it:
1. Extract LGsystemUI.apk
2. Replace whichever .png's I want as long as they are the same resolution as the original.
3. Re zip the file and rename to LGsystemUI.apk
4. Fix permissions
5. Copy back to /system/app
Am I missing any steps? Also, I'm wondering if someone could clue me in on what the file names are for the following: The wifi icon, 3G/4G icon, signal bars, and battery icon (would love to be able to have circle battery with percent if possible).

How can I change the notification bar and icons on my ZTE Blade?
Thanks
You have to re-theme the entire ROM.
Depending on which ROM you are running you need to download the relevant theme.
Head over to Modaco and have a search there.
If you mean the icons on the notification bar, and the notification bar itself then you'll find them all in the 'framework-res.apk'. Just pull this from the ROM or your phone (via adb) and replace the .png's with others. Push back and away you go.
There's something cool here, as well, in case you don't want to get your hands dirty with the framework-res APK: circle.glx.nl
You select a load of options and stuff (there's even a cool battery thing) and it spits out a zip file which you flash in your Recovery.
Will have to check this out... thanks
You know that little white word bubble icon in the middle of the thinkpads status bar that you can set favorites to? How can I get rid of it? I am on a us thinkpads tablet that ha been rooted.
It's buried in a system file if you want to try to hack it & cook a new ROM for us. Wed' all be incredibly grateful!
I can provide some insight into this.
It's in the systemui.apk. I've removed the icon itself by making the images associated blank. That way i didnt have to decompile / recompile, however if you press that specific location, it'll still activate.
I can attach my hacked apk for 3.1 HC if you guys like.

I bet a lot of people would like it!
Let me get this right.... All you did was rename from .apk to .zip, unzip (assuming with 7zip), replace the graphic file, and rezip, un-rename, and it worked?
If that's the case, I'm going to try replacing all of those blasted bar graphics wherever they are with something at least grey. They burn out my eyeballs, especially when I have a screen filter on. Nandroid, here I come....
Yea, that's essential what I did. Just don't remove any of the files. You'll have to decompile and recompile for that.
I've attached my modified SystemUI.apk
rename to SystemUI.apk and push it to /system/apps/ and reboot
i recommend doing a fix permissions after pushing.

You can try the LTE icon mod located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498548
located near the bottom of the first post.
If you want the icons to look different, you can unzip the file, find the icons and change them to anything else you want them to look like,
there are not many icons to find.
That assumes you have a recovery installed.
If not you would have to pull the corresponding files from your phone that are located in the zip and change the files
then put them back. (you probably don't want to go this route though)

If you are actually connected to an LTE network, simply edit the file /system/csc/others.xml (in an at&t ROM it would be /system/csc/feature.xml ) and add this line....
Code:
<CscFeature_Framework_ReplaceDataTypeIconAsOpBrand>OYA</CscFeature_Framework_ReplaceDataTypeIconAsOpBrand>
If the line is already there, edit whatever 3-letter code is there now to "OYA" without quotes
If you are not connected to real LTE, then you'll have to theme your SystemUI.apk. Extract the file. In res\drawable-xxhdpi , Find the 4g icons you are currently seeing on your phone and the LTE icons you want to see. Switch names for the icons. Go back to your orig SystemUI.apk, open-but not extract-the file with 7zip program (pc or Mac). Drag all the renamed icons back into the res\drawable-xxhdpi folder, close. Push or flash to system/app on your phone.
would like to change the background of my roted Note 3 SM-9005 (settings, phone, sms, etc)
from
- Black Background with white fonts
to
- White or light Background with Black fonts
In doing so I have played with Xposed and Xbackground module, but I only was able to change background, NOT fonts.
Can somebody else share his experience?
Thank you
Saulo
I am willing to use a light themed ROM instead of my current one, but I found none
And yes, I do NOT care if the white background drains the battery: better short battery than unusable device (at least for my aging eyes...)
Thank you for any suggestions

I found this:
http://galaxy-note2.wonderhowto.com...ckgrounds-your-samsung-galaxy-note-2-0147944/
But it works only partially: there are NO apps or mods available to exploit Xposed in order to achieve the revert of the colors.
I also found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281611
But I am not a techie...to complicated.
I would even pay someone to code those lines into an app:

First download framework-res.apk from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?aaxgspj95aqj9nf
1. open the framework.apk with 7zip
2. Navigate to res/drawable-nodpi
3. Delete the file named background_holo_dark.png. it should be the very first one
4. Now choose any image and resize it to 512x512 using a photo editing software
5. Rename the chosen picture to background_holo_dark.png
6. Place it in res/drawable-nodpi
7. Now close 7zip and place the framework.apk onto your sd card
8. Now using root explorer copy the framework.apk into system/framework. ( remeber to delete the old framework.apk from the framework folder)
9. Change its permissions to rw--r--r
10. Reboot your phone
Thank you

I am trying to change Sprint GS4 L720T 3g data indicator to a 4G data indicator, so whenever I connect to HSPA, I get the 4G icon instead of the 3G icon. I have identified the icon inside the SystemUI.apk file: it's called "stat_sys_data_connected_3g_spr.png." My idea is to change that icon with another one like "stat_sys_data_connected_4g_att.png" or "stat_sys_data_connected_4g_tmo.png".
Method 1: I used 7-zip to inter-change the name of the files within the apk and then moved back to modified file to /system/priv-app/
Method 2: I used apktool to rename the file name and the moved the re-compiled apk back to /system/priv-app/
The problem: With both method the device seems to detect the changes I made thru signature detection or some other method and the modified SystemUI.apk does'n't work.
I have even tried a de-odexed ROM and tried both previous method and the device keeps failing to recognize the apk.
Does anyone has any idea on how can I change SystemUI.apk without triggering the signature change?
PS: I was able to do this but only on a device that had a 15 digit EMEI instead of the 14 digit MEID. I cannot reproduce the problem again because I don't have any other device with a 14 digit MEID.
Can anyone at least lead me in the right direction?
Extract the pngs you want to use, rename them to the ones you want to replace, put back into apk
Profit
Or decompile/recompile properly
Or disable signature check
BTW, this isn't really relevant to the developer section
